Overview
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 25Wt is a professional-grade shock and differential oil specifically engineered for RC racing applications. Whether you're competing in circuit racing, off-road championships, or simply enjoying weekend bashing with your RC car UK setup, this silicone oil delivers the consistency and performance that serious RC enthusiasts demand. Fastrax has established itself as a trusted name in the RC hobby, and this 25-weight oil represents the culmination of rigorous development and real-world testing by some of Europe's leading RC drivers.
This isn't just any shock oil—it's the result of twelve months of intensive research and development, tested in every conceivable condition from the scorching heat of Spanish circuits to the unpredictable rain and cold of UK tracks. The drivers involved in the development process were unanimous in their praise, stating they had never encountered oils offering such consistency and smooth progression through the full range of viscosity options. What makes this oil stand out in the competitive world of RC racing is the engineering philosophy behind it: Fastrax understood that tuning your RC vehicle for optimal performance requires oils that respond predictably across different temperatures and driving conditions, and that's exactly what this 25Wt delivers.
The 25-weight classification makes this oil ideal for mid-range shock and differential tuning, offering drivers the perfect balance between fluid response and damping control. If you're serious about extracting maximum performance from your RC buggy, monster truck, or crawler, having the right selection of oils in your toolkit is absolutely essential. The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 25Wt is an investment in precision tuning that will help you find the competitive edge you're looking for.
Key Features
- Pure Silicone Formula — Made from high-quality pure silicone, this oil maintains exceptional consistency across the entire operating temperature range of your RC vehicle, ensuring that your shock and differential settings remain stable whether you're racing in summer heat or winter conditions typical of UK RC circuits.
- Professional-Grade Consistency — Developed and tested by Europe's leading RC drivers, this oil offers unmatched consistency throughout the viscosity range, meaning you can rely on predictable performance lap after lap, race after race, without unexpected changes in handling or damping characteristics.
- 300 cSt Kinematic Viscosity — The 25-weight rating corresponds to a precise 300 cSt viscosity measurement, providing the exact damping characteristics needed for mid-range shock and differential tuning in competitive RC racing environments.
- Comprehensive Tuning Range — Fastrax offers multiple weight options beyond the 25Wt, allowing drivers to fine-tune their vehicles for all conditions and track types, from slick tarmac to loose gravel and everything in between.
- Easy-Pour Lid Design — The thoughtfully engineered lid makes changing oil quick and mess-free, transforming what can be a tedious maintenance task into something that takes just moments, so you can spend more time driving and less time on frustrating maintenance.
- Proven Racing Heritage — This oil has been validated through extensive testing in real racing conditions across Europe, not just laboratory environments, meaning it has proven itself in actual competition where consistency and reliability truly matter.
- Excellent Thermal Stability — The pure silicone formulation resists breakdown under the extreme temperatures generated during intense RC racing, maintaining its viscosity and protecting your vehicle's suspension components for longer oil change intervals.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax Racing Pure Silicone Oil 25Wt represents a significant advancement in shock and differential oil technology for the RC racing community. At 300 cSt kinematic viscosity, this 25-weight oil sits perfectly in the mid-range of tuning options, making it ideal for drivers who need a balanced approach to suspension tuning without committing to either a lighter or heavier formula. The pure silicone construction ensures that the oil's viscosity remains stable across the temperature variations you'll encounter during a full day of RC racing—whether starting with a cold track in the morning or finishing under the heat of afternoon sun. The oil's consistency is not theoretical; it's backed by twelve months of rigorous field testing conducted by some of Europe's most demanding RC racing drivers who subject oils to extreme conditions including intense Spanish heat and variable UK weather. These professionals confirmed that the Fastrax range offers progression and consistency unlike anything they'd previously experienced, with each weight in the lineup providing predictable tuning increments. The engineering philosophy emphasises that successful RC racing requires complete confidence in your setup, and when you change shock oil, you need to know exactly how your vehicle will respond. This oil delivers that confidence. The easy-pour lid design addresses a practical concern that all serious RC racers face: changing oils should be efficient and clean, not a frustrating chore that detracts from your enjoyment of the hobby. For UK RC enthusiasts building and tuning their vehicles to competitive standards, this oil integrates seamlessly into any shock and differential maintenance routine.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What weight oil should I choose for my RC vehicle? — The 25Wt is a mid-range option suitable for general racing and bashing applications. Lighter weights (lower numbers) provide less damping and faster shock response, whilst heavier weights provide more damping and slower response. The 25Wt is ideal if you're unsure which weight to start with, as it represents a balanced middle ground. Many UK RC enthusiasts keep multiple weights in their toolkit to adapt to different track conditions and weather.
- Is this silicone oil compatible with my RC car's shocks and differentials? — Yes, this pure silicone oil is compatible with the vast majority of RC vehicles including buggies, trucks, crawlers and on-road cars. The silicone formulation is the industry standard for RC shock and differential oils. Always consult your vehicle's manual for any specific recommendations, but Fastrax oils are engineered for universal compatibility across most modern RC platforms.
- How often should I change my shock oil? — Oil change frequency depends on how heavily you use your RC vehicle. Competitive racers often change oils every few weeks or between major events, while recreational bashers might change oils every few months. The key is to monitor your oil for signs of contamination (discolouration or gritty particles), and change it if you notice performance degradation or visible debris in the shocks.
- What makes Fastrax oils different from cheaper alternatives? — Fastrax oils have been developed and tested by professional European RC racing drivers and represent a significant investment in consistency and quality. Cheaper oils may vary in viscosity between batches or break down under racing temperatures, leading to unpredictable handling. With Fastrax, you're paying for consistency, reliability, and performance validation that translates directly to better vehicle handling and more predictable tuning.
- Can I mix different weight oils? — Whilst it's technically possible to blend oils, this is not recommended as it creates an undefined viscosity that's difficult to tune around. It's better to use a single weight in your shocks and differentials, and only change weight as a deliberate tuning adjustment when you understand how each weight will affect your vehicle's behaviour.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The 25Wt is an excellent choice for beginners because it represents a sensible middle ground in the tuning range. Beginners should use a single weight whilst learning how suspension tuning works, and the 25Wt provides a neutral starting point that won't create extreme handling characteristics while you develop your tuning skills.
- What does the 300 cSt specification mean? — cSt stands for centistokes, a measurement of kinematic viscosity used internationally in the lubricants industry. 300 cSt is a specific viscosity measurement that corresponds to the 25-weight rating. This number gives racers precise technical information about the oil's damping characteristics, allowing them to make informed tuning decisions.
