Overview

The Fastrax Tru-Start 82T Belt FAST561-2 is an essential replacement component for RC enthusiasts running nitro-powered models. This high-quality starter belt is designed to work seamlessly with Fastrax Tru-Start nitro engine starting equipment, making it an indispensable spare part for serious RC car UK operators who rely on reliable nitro power systems. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or dedicated nitro modeller, having quality replacement belts on hand ensures your starting system remains in peak condition and your RC vehicles are always ready to fire up and perform at their best.

Nitro RC cars have long been the choice of enthusiasts who appreciate the authentic engine sound, responsive performance, and traditional maintenance routines that come with fuel-powered models. The Fastrax Tru-Start system represents a trusted solution in the RC community, and this 82-tooth belt is the wear component that keeps the starter mechanism functioning reliably. Over time, belts can wear through regular use, and having genuine Fastrax replacement belts ensures you're using components engineered to work perfectly with your existing starting equipment.

RC Model Shop stocks the full range of Fastrax accessories and components, making it easy for UK-based RC enthusiasts to find exactly what they need to maintain, upgrade, and service their nitro models. This belt is perfect for those who've already invested in a Tru-Start nitro engine starter and want to keep spare parts readily available, or for those looking to replace a worn or damaged belt that's affecting their starting performance.

Key Features

  • 82-Tooth Design — The 82-tooth configuration is specifically engineered to work with the Fastrax Tru-Start starting system, providing optimal grip and power transfer when starting nitro RC engines. This tooth count ensures reliable engagement with the starter motor, translating engine-starting commands into smooth, consistent engine ignition.
  • Fastrax Quality Engineering — Fastrax is a recognised manufacturer of RC components and accessories, and this belt is manufactured to their quality standards. Using a genuine Fastrax replacement belt means you're getting a part that's been designed and tested to work perfectly with Tru-Start equipment, rather than a generic alternative that might not fit or function reliably.
  • Essential Wear Component — Belts are wear items that deteriorate with regular use. Having replacement belts in stock means you'll never be caught without a working starter system, keeping your RC nitro car operational and race-ready. Simply swapping out a worn belt takes just minutes and restores your starting system to like-new condition.
  • Cost-Effective Maintenance — Rather than replacing your entire Tru-Start starter unit, a simple belt replacement is a budget-friendly way to maintain your equipment and extend its working life. At under £8, this is an affordable way to keep your nitro RC car operational.
  • Easy Installation — The Tru-Start belt system is designed for straightforward maintenance, allowing RC modellers to replace the belt themselves without specialist tools or expertise. This makes it perfect for home workshops and field maintenance.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax Tru-Start 82T Belt is a precision-engineered rubber belt designed to transfer rotational force from the starting motor to the nitro engine's flywheel, initiating the combustion cycle that brings your RC engine to life. The 82-tooth count provides the correct gear ratio and engagement surface for the Tru-Start system, ensuring that starting torque is transmitted efficiently without slipping or skipping. Belts experience constant friction and heat during the starting process, which causes gradual wear over time—the rubber material hardens and the teeth gradually compress and fray. A worn belt loses its ability to grip effectively, resulting in slipping, incomplete starts, or failed ignition attempts. By replacing the belt as a preventative maintenance item, you maintain the reliability and responsiveness of your starting system. The belt material is specifically formulated to withstand the heat generated during engine starting, the mechanical stress of repeated engagement cycles, and the fuel vapours found in a typical nitro RC environment. Fastrax has engineered this belt to be a perfect fit within the Tru-Start system, with precise tolerances that ensure smooth operation without binding or misalignment. This belt is suitable for all nitro RC car types that use the Fastrax Tru-Start starting equipment, including off-road buggies, trucks, and on-road racing vehicles powered by nitro engines.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the Fastrax Tru-Start 82T Belt used for? — This belt is a replacement component for the Fastrax Tru-Start nitro engine starting system. It connects the starter motor to your nitro RC engine's flywheel, transferring the rotational force needed to crank the engine and initiate ignition. When your belt wears out or becomes damaged, replacing it restores your starting system to full working order.
  • How do I know when my belt needs replacing? — Signs that your Tru-Start belt needs replacement include difficulty starting your nitro engine, the starter motor spinning but the engine not cranking, visible cracks or fraying on the belt surface, or a burning smell during starting attempts. If your starts have become unreliable or intermittent, a fresh belt will often solve the problem immediately.
  • Is this suitable for all nitro RC cars? — This belt is designed specifically for use with Fastrax Tru-Start starting equipment. If your nitro RC car is set up with a Tru-Start system, this belt is the correct replacement. If you use a different brand of starter (such as those from Traxxas, Losi, or HPI), you'll need the belt designed for that specific system.
  • How often should I replace this belt? — Belt lifespan depends on how frequently you use your nitro RC car and how often you start the engine. For regular users, replacing the belt every 12-24 months of active use is a sensible maintenance schedule. If you use your RC car intensively for racing or regular bashing, you might need to replace it more frequently. It's always wise to keep a spare belt on hand so you're never stranded with a non-functioning starter system.
  • Can I fit this belt myself? — Yes, the Tru-Start system is designed for user-friendly maintenance. Replacing the belt typically involves removing a cover or access panel on your starter unit, sliding out the old belt, and sliding the new one into place. No specialist tools are required, and most modellers can complete the job in just a few minutes. Refer to your Tru-Start starter instructions for specific fitting guidance.
  • Where can I buy the Fastrax Tru-Start 82T Belt in the UK? — RC Model Shop stocks the full range of Fastrax nitro components and accessories, including this replacement belt. We offer online ordering with delivery throughout the UK, and our team can provide advice on nitro maintenance and starting systems if you need further guidance.
