This precision-engineered pinion gear represents the perfect choice for those seeking to optimise their RC car's acceleration, top speed, and overall drivetrain efficiency. Whether you're a seasoned competitor running your RC buggy or monster truck at the track, or a weekend basher enjoying high-speed runs across rough terrain, this pinion gear delivers the reliability and performance that serious RC hobbyists demand.

Manufactured from premium 7075 aluminium alloy, this pinion gear combines exceptional durability with a lightweight design that doesn't compromise on strength. The 32-pitch tooth profile ensures smooth mesh with compatible spur gears, whilst the 3.2mm shaft diameter provides secure fitment in standard RC car differentials and transmission systems. As an option part from Fastrax, a recognised brand within the RC community, this pinion gear is an ideal upgrade for maintaining peak performance or replacing worn drivetrain components on your RC model.

For RC car enthusiasts in the UK seeking reliable replacement and upgrade parts, the Fastrax 32DP 15T Pinion Gear offers outstanding value and proven performance. This is the kind of precision component that separates a well-maintained RC vehicle from one that's struggling with worn drivetrain parts. If you're looking to get the most from your RC experience, investing in quality option parts like this pinion gear is a smart decision.

Key Features

  • 32 Pitch (32DP) Tooth Profile — The 32-pitch specification ensures compatibility with standard RC car spur gears and drivetrain systems commonly found across 1/10 scale vehicles, making this a versatile upgrade option for multiple RC models.
  • 15-Tooth Configuration — The 15-tooth design provides an optimal balance between acceleration and top speed, allowing you to tune your RC car's performance characteristics to suit your driving style and track conditions without compromising overall drivetrain reliability.
  • 7075 Aluminium Alloy Construction — This premium aerospace-grade aluminium alloy offers exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, meaning your drivetrain remains lightweight whilst delivering the durability needed for competitive racing and aggressive weekend bashing alike.
  • 3.2mm Shaft Diameter — The precisely machined 3.2mm shaft ensures a secure fit within standard RC car motor shafts and transmission assemblies, providing reliable power transfer and eliminating slippage during acceleration and high-load situations.
  • Precision-Engineered Tooth Profile — Each tooth is meticulously machined to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth meshing with compatible spur gears and minimising drivetrain backlash, which directly translates to improved acceleration response and handling consistency.
  • Lightweight Design — The aluminium construction keeps unsprung mass to a minimum, allowing your RC car's suspension to work more effectively and improving overall handling dynamics across varied terrain.
  • Option Part Versatility — As a standard Fastrax option part, this pinion gear is designed to work across multiple RC platforms and drivetrain configurations, making it a practical addition to your parts box for future upgrades and replacements.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax 32DP 15T Aluminium 7075 Pinion Gear represents the pinnacle of precision drivetrain engineering for serious RC enthusiasts. Manufactured from 7075-T6 aluminium alloy, this material choice is no accident — it's the same high-strength alloy used in aerospace applications, providing exceptional durability without adding unnecessary weight to your RC drivetrain. The 32-pitch tooth specification is industry-standard for 1/10 scale RC vehicles, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of RC car spur gears available in the UK market. The 15-tooth configuration offers an excellent performance baseline, delivering strong acceleration whilst maintaining respectable top-end speed; whether you're piloting an RC buggy through technical track sections or pushing a monster truck across open ground, this gear ratio provides the right balance for versatile driving.

The 3.2mm shaft diameter has been precisely engineered to fit snugly into standard RC motor shafts and transmission components, eliminating the play and slippage that can develop with inferior components. This tight tolerance ensures efficient power transfer from your brushless motor directly to the wheels, maximising acceleration response and reducing energy loss through the drivetrain. The tooth profile itself is computer-designed and CNC-machined to exact specifications, creating a perfectly smooth mesh with your spur gear and minimising the backlash that can cause sluggish handling and unpredictable behaviour on the track. For RC enthusiasts who take their performance seriously, whether running brushless or brushed motors at competitive speeds, this pinion gear delivers measurable improvements in drivetrain efficiency, handling response, and overall vehicle reliability during extended racing sessions or aggressive bashing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a pinion gear and why do I need to replace mine? — A pinion gear is a small gear that meshes directly with your RC car's larger spur gear, transferring power from the motor to the wheels. Over time, pinion gears wear down from continuous use, developing flat spots on the teeth that cause poor acceleration response, drivetrain noise, and reduced overall performance. Replacing a worn pinion gear with a new Fastrax 32DP 15T ensures smooth, responsive acceleration and protects your spur gear from further damage.
  • Is the 15-tooth pinion gear the right choice for my RC car? — The 15-tooth pinion is the standard baseline for balanced performance on most 1/10 scale RC vehicles. If you want more acceleration and easier hill climbing, consider a smaller tooth count (14T or 13T); if you want higher top-end speed on open ground, a larger tooth count (16T or 17T) would be more suitable. The 15T offers the perfect middle ground for general-purpose driving.
  • What does 32DP mean, and is it compatible with my RC car? — 32DP (32 Diametral Pitch) refers to the tooth pitch specification, which is the industry standard for most 1/10 scale RC vehicles sold in the UK. This pinion will mesh perfectly with any standard 32-pitch spur gear, making it universally compatible with buggy, truck, and truggy platforms from all the major RC manufacturers.
  • Why is 7075 aluminium better than steel? — 7075 aluminium is significantly lighter than steel whilst offering comparable strength, meaning you can improve your RC car's handling and suspension response by reducing drivetrain weight. Aluminium also dissipates heat more effectively, protecting your motor and drivetrain from thermal stress during extended driving sessions.
  • How do I know when to replace my pinion gear? — Warning signs include grinding or chattering noises during acceleration, sluggish acceleration response despite a healthy motor, or visible flat spots and wear marks on the gear teeth when you inspect it. If you notice any of these symptoms, it's time to upgrade to a fresh Fastrax 32DP pinion gear.
  • Will this pinion gear work with my brushless RC motor? — Absolutely. This pinion gear is designed to work with any motor fitted with a standard 3.2mm shaft, including brushless motors, brushed motors, and higher-KV racing motors. The precise shaft diameter and tooth profile ensure smooth, efficient power transfer across the entire performance spectrum.
  • What is the difference between 15T, 16T, and 17T pinion gears? — Each additional tooth on the pinion gear increases the overall gear ratio, providing higher top-end speed but slightly reduced acceleration. A 15T pinion provides balanced performance; a 16T offers higher speed potential; and a 17T maximises top speed for open-ground bashing. Choose based on your driving style and track conditions.
