Key Features

  • High Torque Output of 20.3kg-cm — This servo delivers substantial holding power at 6.0V, providing the strength needed to control larger RC cars, aggressive steering inputs, and demanding throttle functions without slipping or losing position under load, which is critical for both casual basher and competitive driver alike.
  • Ultra-Fast 0.16 Second Transit Time — With response speed measured at 0.16 seconds per 60 degrees of rotation at 6.0V, this servo reacts instantly to your control inputs, delivering the snappy, precise steering response that makes the difference between winning and losing in competitive RC racing applications.
  • Metal Gear Train Construction — The metal gear train significantly enhances durability and longevity compared to plastic alternatives, resisting wear and stripping under sustained high-torque operation, which means your servo investment will outlast countless hours of RC driving enjoyment and remain reliable season after season.
  • Compact Standard-Size Dimensions — Measuring just 40.5 x 20.3 x 38.0mm, this servo fits the industry-standard servo mount pattern found on virtually every modern RC car, truck, buggy, and crawler, eliminating compatibility concerns and simplifying installation across your entire RC fleet.
  • Lightweight at Only 55.6 Grams — The minimal weight footprint means you're not unnecessarily loading down your RC chassis with servo mass, which preserves your model's handling characteristics, responsiveness, and overall performance profile, particularly important for precision steering applications.
  • Durable Plastic Outer Case — The reinforced plastic housing protects the servo's internal components whilst remaining lightweight, providing excellent impact resistance for the inevitable crashes and impacts that come with RC hobby driving in the UK's variable weather conditions.
  • Complete Accessory Package Included — Every servo arrives with a full selection of servo horns in various configurations, mounting rubbers for vibration isolation, and all necessary mounting hardware, meaning you won't need to source additional components before installation.
  • Digital Servo Technology — The digital servo design offers superior precision, faster response times, and better holding power compared to analogue alternatives, making this the preferred choice for serious RC enthusiasts who demand professional-grade performance from their equipment.

Technical Performance

The ETRONIX ET2049 represents sophisticated servo engineering designed to meet the exacting demands of modern RC car racing and performance driving. At its core sits a high-speed digital control circuit that processes input signals faster than conventional analogue systems, translating to sharper steering response and more accurate positioning critical during competitive RC driving. The metal gear train is the engineering highlight here—rather than using plastic gears that wear and strip under sustained load, Etronix has specified hardened metal gears throughout the drive mechanism, dramatically extending servo lifespan and ensuring consistent performance across hundreds of hours of operation. The servo's performance envelope at 6.0V nominal input voltage (typical NiMh battery configuration) delivers an impressive combination: 20.3kg-cm of continuous holding torque that resists external forces trying to move the servo arm from its commanded position, coupled with 0.16-second transit time that ensures rapid response to steering inputs and throttle commands. The compact 40.5 x 20.3 x 38.0mm footprint maintains the standard servo mounting pattern, whilst the 55.6g mass keeps your RC chassis weight distribution optimised. Whether powering the steering on a high-speed RC buggy, controlling weapon mechanisms on an RC tank, managing suspension preload adjustments on a crawler, or handling throttle actuation on a brushless RC car, this servo delivers the mechanical advantage and speed needed to perform flawlessly under genuine operating conditions. The plastic case exterior provides excellent impact protection during the inevitable collisions that characterise RC hobby use, whilst the internal metal components ensure long-term reliability. This is a servo that won't let you down during critical moments of competition or casual weekend bashing sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this servo suitable for RC car steering and throttle control applications? — Yes, absolutely. With 20.3kg-cm torque and 0.16-second response time, this servo excels at both steering and throttle duties on standard RC cars, buggies, and trucks. The metal gears ensure durability under the constant load cycling typical of throttle management, whilst the rapid transit time keeps steering responsive and precise during competitive driving.
  • What voltage should I run this servo at for optimal performance? — The specifications are rated at 6.0V nominal, which corresponds to a fully charged 5-cell NiMh battery pack. Running at 6.0V delivers the advertised 20.3kg-cm torque and 0.16-second speed. You can operate at lower voltages (such as 4.8V from 4 NiMh cells), though this will reduce both torque output and speed proportionally. Do not exceed 6.0V maximum voltage rating, as this risks damaging the servo's internal electronics.
  • How does the metal gear construction benefit me compared to a plastic gear servo? — Metal gears are significantly harder and more durable than plastic alternatives. Plastic gears gradually wear down under sustained torque loading, eventually stripping teeth and losing gripping force. Metal gears maintain their tooth profiles indefinitely under normal use, delivering consistent performance year after year. For serious RC competitors and regular bashers, metal gears mean your servo investment lasts longer and performs more reliably throughout its service life.
  • Will this servo fit my existing RC car? — Most likely yes. This servo uses the industry-standard size servo mounting pattern (40.5 x 20.3 x 38.0mm), which is fitted to the vast majority of modern RC cars, trucks, buggies, crawlers, and other RC vehicles available in the UK market. If your RC model uses standard servos, this Etronix will fit directly into the existing servo mount without modification.
  • What makes a 0.16-second transit time important for RC driving? — Transit time measures how quickly the servo responds to control input—faster is always better. A 0.16-second response means steering corrections happen almost instantaneously, giving you superior handling feedback and precision control during both casual driving and competitive racing. This becomes critical when driving at high speed or in precision manoeuvre competitions where milliseconds matter.
  • Is this a digital or analogue servo, and what's the difference? — This is a digital servo, which means the control circuitry operates at high frequency (typically 333Hz or higher) compared to analogue servos (around 50Hz). Digital servos offer faster response, higher holding torque, better centering accuracy, and superior power efficiency. For RC car applications, digital servos are the professional standard choice.
  • Can I use this servo on my brushless RC car? — Yes, this servo works with any RC vehicle powered by brushless motors, brushed motors, or nitro engines. Servo selection is independent of propulsion type—what matters is the servo's speed and torque matching your control requirements. This servo's 20.3kg-cm torque and fast 0.16-second response make it suitable for virtually any RC vehicle type.
  • What hardware is included with this servo? — Etronix includes a complete package: multiple servo horns in different arm configurations (allowing you to choose the optimal geometry for your application), mounting rubbers for vibration isolation (which reduces noise and improves servo lifespan), and all fastening hardware needed for installation. You'll have everything needed to install the servo directly onto your RC model without sourcing additional components.
