Overview

The Etronix 17G 3.5kg/0.11s Micro Servo Metal Gear (ET2015) is a compact and powerful servo solution designed for precision RC applications where size and strength are equally important. Whether you're building a custom RC car UK setup, upgrading an existing model, or working on a compact RC crawler, this micro servo delivers smooth, responsive control in an incredibly lightweight package. At just 17.5 grams, this servo packs impressive performance that belies its diminutive dimensions, making it the ideal choice for scale RC vehicles, micro helicopters, and other applications where weight savings matter.

Built by Etronix, a trusted name in RC electronics and components, this micro servo has been engineered with durability and reliability at its core. The metal gear train ensures long-lasting performance even under demanding conditions, whilst the lightweight plastic case keeps the overall weight minimal without compromising structural integrity. This is a servo designed for enthusiasts who refuse to compromise—whether you're a seasoned RC competitor, a weekend basher, or someone new to the world of ready to run RC models, the ET2015 offers the performance and reliability you need to keep your projects running smoothly.

What sets this servo apart is the complete package it arrives with. Rather than buying additional components separately, Etronix includes a full selection of servo horns, rubber mounting grommets, and fixing hardware, meaning you can get your RC project set up and running quickly. This attention to detail and customer convenience is what makes the Etronix range so popular amongst RC enthusiasts across the UK.

Key Features

  • Metal Gear Train — The servo features durable metal gears that provide superior longevity and performance compared to nylon alternatives, ensuring your servo continues to operate reliably through countless hours of RC activity without wear-related performance degradation.
  • Precise 25T Spline Output — The 25-tooth spline provides a reliable, industry-standard connection point for servo horns and linkages, ensuring secure attachment and precise control transfer to your RC model's control surfaces.
  • Ultralight Weight at 17.5 Grams — At just 17.5 grams, this servo is ideal for weight-sensitive applications where every gram counts, such as micro-scale RC cars, helicopters, and other precision models where reduced weight translates directly to improved performance and battery life.
  • Fast Response Time of 0.11 Seconds — With a transit speed of just 0.11 seconds at 6.0V, this servo responds instantly to control inputs, providing the snappy, immediate feedback that competitive RC drivers and precision flyers demand from their equipment.
  • Generous 3.5kg-cm Torque Output — Despite its compact size, the ET2015 delivers 3.5 kilogram-centimetres of torque at 6.0 volts, providing plenty of power to move control surfaces decisively and maintain position under load, crucial for reliable servo performance in RC models.
  • Complete Hardware Package Included — Every servo arrives with a full selection of servo horns in various designs, rubber mounting grommets for vibration isolation, and all necessary fixing hardware, eliminating the need to purchase components separately and allowing immediate installation.
  • Compact Dimensions of 30.0 x 12.0 x 31.7mm — The incredibly compact footprint makes this servo perfect for applications where space is at a premium, such as scale cockpits, micro RC crawlers, and other confined installation areas where standard servos simply won't fit.
  • Plastic Case Construction — The lightweight plastic case balances durability with weight savings, protecting internal components whilst maintaining the servo's ultralight profile, essential for applications where every gram of weight affects performance.

Technical Performance

The Etronix ET2015 micro servo represents a triumph of compact engineering, delivering impressive specifications that belie its diminutive size. Operating at 6.0 volts, this servo achieves a response time of just 0.11 seconds per 60-degree rotation, meaning your RC model responds instantly to your control inputs with virtually no lag or delay. This fast transit time is particularly valuable in competitive RC racing environments, where split-second servo response can mean the difference between winning and second place. The servo generates 3.5 kilogram-centimetres of torque, sufficient to control most micro-scale RC applications and maintain servo position under load without stalling or slipping. The combination of metal gears and precision engineering ensures that this performance level remains consistent throughout the servo's operational life, whether you're running your RC crawler through rocky terrain, flying precision manoeuvres with your RC helicopter, or executing competitive driving lines with your RC car UK competition build. The 25-tooth spline is a standard connection point recognised across the RC industry, ensuring compatibility with the vast majority of aftermarket servo horns and linkages you might want to use. Measuring just 30.0 x 12.0 x 31.7 millimetres and weighing only 17.5 grams, this servo is engineered for applications where weight savings are critical—every gram of servo weight reduction translates to improved acceleration, handling and battery runtime in your RC model. The metal gear construction is particularly important for reliability and longevity, as metal gears resist wear far more effectively than nylon alternatives, meaning your servo will maintain consistent torque and speed output through thousands of hours of operation without the performance degradation that typically affects cheaper plastic-geared servos.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Etronix ET2015 micro servo suitable for beginners in RC? — Yes, this servo is suitable for beginners, particularly those working with micro-scale RC models or confined spaces where compact servos are necessary. The complete hardware package included means no additional purchases are required, and the straightforward installation process makes it accessible to newcomers. However, beginners should ensure they understand basic servo installation and control linkage setup before commencing work.
  • What voltage does this servo require and what batteries work with it? — The Etronix ET2015 operates at 6.0 volts nominal, which means it is compatible with standard 5-cell NiMH receiver batteries (6V nominal) or 2-cell LiPo batteries (7.4V nominal, though operation at slightly elevated voltage is typically tolerated by servos). When using LiPo batteries, ensure your radio system includes a voltage regulator to step the voltage down safely.
  • What makes the metal gear construction important compared to nylon gears? — Metal gears are substantially more durable than nylon alternatives, resisting wear and maintaining consistent torque output throughout the servo's operational life. Nylon gears in cheaper servos tend to wear and develop play (looseness) over time, leading to reduced responsiveness and eventual failure. The metal gear construction in the ET2015 ensures long-term reliability and consistent performance, making it a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about their RC hobby.
  • Can I use this servo in my ready to run RC car UK setup? — Absolutely. If your ready to run RC model has provisions for servo replacement or if you're building a custom RC setup, the ET2015's compact size and generous torque output make it suitable for steering control in small to medium-sized RC cars, crawlers and similar applications.
  • What is the 25T spline and why does it matter? — The 25-tooth spline is the industry-standard servo output connection, a mechanical interface that allows servo horns to attach securely to the servo shaft. This standardised design means you can use virtually any aftermarket 25T servo horn available, giving you tremendous flexibility in control linkage design and customisation for your specific RC application.
  • How fast is 0.11 seconds per 60 degrees in real terms? — A transit time of 0.11 seconds per 60-degree rotation is considered very fast in the servo world. This means the servo completes a full 180-degree movement in approximately 0.33 seconds, providing the snappy, immediate response that competitive RC driving demands. Slower servos (0.15-0.20 seconds) can feel sluggish and unresponsive by comparison, particularly in racing applications.
  • Is this servo waterproof or weather-resistant? — The Etronix ET2015 is a standard servo without specific waterproofing measures. Whilst the plastic case provides some protection, it is not designed for submerged operation or heavy water exposure. For waterproof applications, Etronix and other manufacturers produce specifically sealed servos with improved weather resistance.
