Overview

The ETRONIX 9G 2.5kg/0.10s Micro Digital Servo Metal Gear (ET2008) is a compact, high-performance micro servo designed for RC enthusiasts who demand precision and reliability in a lightweight package. Whether you're building a competitive RC car in the UK, setting up a bespoke RC model, or fine-tuning an existing build, this servo delivers the speed and torque needed for responsive control. With metal gears engineered for durability and a rapid 0.10-second response time at 6.0V, the ET2008 is ideal for applications where space and weight are critical but performance cannot be compromised.

This Etronix servo combines robust metal gearing with rapid response characteristics, making it a popular choice among RC hobbyists and professionals alike. At just 9.9 grams and measuring only 23.2 x 12.0 x 25.5mm, it fits seamlessly into tight spaces on micro and mini RC builds. Whether you're upgrading steering servos on a ready-to-run RC car, installing it in a scale crawler, or using it for aerosurface control on an RC plane or quadcopter, the ET2008 provides the reliability and performance you need without adding unnecessary weight or bulk to your model.

RC Model Shop stocks the ETRONIX 9G servo as part of our comprehensive range of quality RC components and upgrades. This servo is backed by Etronix's reputation for engineering excellence and is supplied with everything you need to get started, including servo horns, mounting rubbers and hardware—no need to purchase additional accessories separately.

Key Features

  • Metal Gears for Superior Durability — Unlike plastic-geared servos, the metal gear construction resists wear, stripping and damage under repeated stress, ensuring your servo maintains its performance over thousands of cycles and extended use in competitive or demanding RC applications across the UK.
  • Extreme Speed: 0.10 Seconds per 60° — Operating at an exceptionally fast 0.10-second response time at 6.0V, this micro servo delivers lightning-quick steering and control inputs, giving you the responsiveness needed for precision manoeuvres and competitive racing where every millisecond matters.
  • Adequate Torque: 2.5kg-cm at 6.0V — The servo produces 2.5kg-cm of torque, providing sufficient holding power for steering control, throttle management, and trim adjustments on small to medium-sized RC models without requiring oversized servo specifications.
  • Ultra-Lightweight Design: 9.9 Grams — Weighing less than 10 grams, this servo is ideal for weight-sensitive applications where every gram counts—from micro RC cars and off-road buggies to scale crawlers and aerosurface controls on RC aircraft, the ET2008 minimises weight penalty whilst maintaining performance.
  • Compact Physical Dimensions — Measuring just 23.2 x 12.0 x 25.5mm, the ET2008 is engineered to fit into tight spaces on modern RC models, allowing you to install premium servo performance without extensive modification or sacrifice of chassis design.
  • Plastic Housing for Optimal Weight Distribution — The plastic case keeps overall servo mass to a minimum whilst protecting internal components, making it an excellent choice for weight-conscious builders and racers constructing competitive ready-to-run RC machines.
  • Complete Installation Kit Included — Each servo arrives with a full selection of servo horns, mounting rubbers and fastening hardware, eliminating the need to source additional accessories and allowing immediate installation into your RC model.
  • Digital Servo Technology — The digital servo circuit provides enhanced precision, faster response times and better control linearity compared to conventional analogue servos, offering superior performance in demanding RC racing and competitive applications.

Technical Performance

The ETRONIX ET2008 is engineered for applications where compact size must not compromise on responsiveness and strength. Featuring metal gears throughout the servo mechanism, this micro servo resists the wear and tooth stripping that can affect plastic-geared alternatives, particularly in racing and high-intensity RC applications. The digital servo electronics process control signals 5 times faster than analogue servos, translating to superior steering linearity and more precise throttle response on your RC car, crawler, or scale model. Operating at a standard 6.0V input voltage (commonly provided by a 5-cell NiMH battery or single 2S LiPo pack), the servo delivers 0.10 seconds per 60° of rotation—exceptional speed for a micro servo of this class. The torque rating of 2.5kg-cm provides adequate holding power for steering control on small to medium RC models, though users should verify compatibility with their specific application's control load requirements. The servo's compact dimensions (23.2 x 12.0 x 25.5mm) and ultra-lightweight construction (9.9g) make it ideal for weight-sensitive builds where servo mass directly impacts overall vehicle performance, acceleration response, and handling characteristics. The combination of metal gears, plastic case, digital control circuitry and tight engineering tolerances makes the ET2008 a reliable choice for UK RC enthusiasts building everything from competitive off-road buggies to scale crawler models.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does the ETRONIX ET2008 micro servo plug directly into any RC receiver? — Yes, the ET2008 features a standard servo connector that plugs directly into any compatible RC receiver socket. The servo will operate with any receiver that supports standard servo control signals, including those in ready-to-run RC cars, crawlers, aircraft and other models. Simply plug the servo lead into an available receiver channel and calibrate the servo travel and centre point as needed through your radio transmitter.
  • What battery voltage does this servo require? — The ETRONIX ET2008 operates at 6.0V nominal voltage. This is typically provided by a 5-cell NiMH battery pack (which outputs approximately 6.0V) or a single 2S LiPo battery pack (which outputs 7.4V nominal, though the servo will operate safely at this higher voltage with slightly improved speed and torque). Always verify your RC receiver's power supply and voltage regulation to ensure the servo receives appropriate voltage.
  • Are the gears in the ET2008 actually metal? — Yes, confirmed. The specifications state metal gears throughout, which provide superior durability compared to plastic-geared servos. Metal gears resist tooth stripping and wear under sustained load, making the ET2008 more reliable for competitive racing, high-intensity bashing and demanding applications where servo longevity is critical.
  • What makes this servo suitable for competitive RC racing? — The ET2008 combines three performance-critical features for racing applications: exceptional speed (0.10 seconds per 60°), metal gear durability for repeated hard use, and digital servo electronics that provide faster response and better control linearity than analogue alternatives. The ultra-lightweight design (9.9g) also minimises weight penalty on competition builds. These characteristics make it an excellent choice for steering control on 1/10 and smaller RC cars and off-road buggies competing across the UK.
  • Is the ETRONIX ET2008 suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst the ET2008 is a high-performance servo, it is also straightforward to install and operate. The servo simply plugs into your receiver's servo port, and the included mounting hardware allows easy installation into virtually any RC model. Beginners should note that the servo's rapid response requires proper radio trim and servo travel adjustment for optimal control—your transmitter manual will guide you through this basic calibration process.
  • How does this servo compare to larger or heavier alternatives? — The ET2008 prioritises weight and size efficiency, making it ideal for micro and mini RC models where bulk and mass directly impact performance. Larger servos offer greater torque capacity but weigh significantly more and consume more physical space. For steering and trim functions on small RC cars and crawlers, the ET2008 provides excellent performance with minimal weight penalty, though applications requiring very high torque may benefit from larger servo specifications.
  • Can this servo be used in waterproof or sealed RC models? — The ET2008 features a standard plastic housing with conventional servo connector. Whilst the housing provides basic protection against dust, it is not rated as fully waterproof. For use in waterproof RC models or applications involving water immersion, you should house the servo in an additional protective enclosure or consider a purpose-designed waterproof servo alternative.
