Overview
The ETRONIX 14AWG Silicone Wire in Blue is an essential electrical component for any RC enthusiast building or maintaining their models. Whether you're constructing a new RC car UK setup from scratch, upgrading the wiring in a ready to run RC vehicle, or performing routine maintenance on existing electronics, this premium silicone wire offers the reliability and flexibility that serious hobbyists demand. Available in a generous 100cm length, this multi-core cable delivers consistent performance across a wide range of RC applications, from small-scale brushless RC cars to larger project builds.
Silicone wire is the gold standard choice for RC hobby work because it combines exceptional flexibility with superior durability compared to standard PVC alternatives. The ETRONIX brand is recognised throughout the RC community for delivering quality components at competitive prices, making this blue silicone wire an excellent choice whether you're a seasoned competitor, a weekend basher, or just discovering the world of RC for the first time. The 14AWG gauge strikes the perfect balance between ease of handling and electrical capacity, making it suitable for a diverse range of wiring applications in your RC projects.
This blue-coloured wire helps you maintain neat, organised electrical installations where colour-coding matters. The vibrant blue finish makes it easy to distinguish this wire from other gauges and colours in your workshop, reducing the risk of accidental mismatches during assembly or repair. For hobbyists maintaining multiple RC vehicles, colour-coded wiring is invaluable for quick identification and troubleshooting.
Key Features
- 14AWG Multi-Core Silicone Construction — The 14-gauge wire rating provides an ideal balance of current capacity and flexibility, making it suitable for moderate-current applications across numerous RC hobby projects without excessive stiffness that would make routing difficult through tight spaces.
- 100cm Length — A full metre of wire gives you substantial length for most RC wiring tasks, whether you're running leads across the chassis of a larger model, creating custom battery connectors, or soldering multiple connections with plenty of material to work with safely.
- Superior Silicone Insulation — Unlike budget PVC alternatives, the silicone jacket provides enhanced flexibility even in cold conditions, excellent abrasion resistance, and superior heat tolerance, ensuring your wiring remains reliable during extended running sessions or in varying weather conditions.
- Vibrant Blue Colour — The bright blue finish serves practical purposes beyond aesthetics, enabling quick colour-coded identification in your RC workshop and helping prevent accidental wiring errors when working with multiple wire gauges and colours simultaneously.
- Multi-Core Design — The internal multi-core stranding ensures flexibility and reliability, preventing the brittleness associated with single-strand conductors and making the wire easier to solder and work with during assembly and repair operations.
- Trusted ETRONIX Brand — ETRONIX has established a reputation for delivering quality electrical components that meet the exacting standards of the RC hobby, providing confidence that you're purchasing a genuine, reliable product from an established manufacturer.
Technical Performance
The ETRONIX 14AWG Silicone Wire represents quality electrical engineering for RC applications. The 14-gauge specification provides an optimal current-carrying capacity suitable for most mid-range electrical configurations in RC cars, RC trucks, and other hobby models. The multi-core silicone construction ensures exceptional flexibility, a critical requirement for routing wires through tight chassis spaces and around moving components in your RC vehicle. Silicone insulation is engineered to withstand temperatures far exceeding those required for typical hobby use, providing reliability whether you're operating in summer heat or cold winter conditions. The 100cm length offers enough material for most standard RC wiring tasks—from battery connector installations to ESC lead fabrication—with sufficient excess for safe handling during soldering operations. The wire's superior abrasion resistance compared to PVC alternatives means it will maintain integrity even when routed through tight cable channels or across sharp edges common in RC chassis design. The bright blue colour coating serves both practical and aesthetic purposes: it facilitates easy identification during assembly and troubleshooting whilst also allowing you to maintain professional, colour-coded electrical installations that are easier to service and modify throughout your RC hobby.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What gauge wire do I need for my RC car UK project? — The 14AWG rating of this wire makes it suitable for moderate-current applications in most standard RC vehicles. For very high-current applications like large brushless motors or high-capacity battery systems, you may need to consider thicker 12AWG wire instead. For lower-current applications like receiver leads or sensor connections, thinner 16AWG wire may be appropriate. If you're unsure about your specific application, our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop are happy to advise.
- Why should I use silicone wire instead of standard PVC wire? — Silicone insulation offers several advantages over PVC: it remains flexible even in cold weather, provides superior heat tolerance, resists abrasion damage far better, and is simply more pleasant to work with during soldering and assembly. Once you've experienced the difference, you'll understand why serious RC hobbyists exclusively use silicone wire for their projects.
- Is 100cm enough for my RC car? — For most standard RC cars and trucks, a 100cm length provides ample material for complete wiring jobs with sufficient excess for safe handling during soldering. Larger models or complex multi-battery installations may require additional length, in which case you can order multiple spools or select the thicker 12AWG option which also comes in 100cm lengths.
- Can I solder this wire directly to connectors? — Yes, the multi-core silicone construction solders beautifully, taking solder readily and creating reliable joints. The silicone insulation has excellent heat tolerance, allowing you to solder very close to the insulation without damage. Using flux improves solder flow and connection quality significantly.
- What's the difference between 14AWG and 12AWG silicone wire? — The 12AWG wire has a thicker conductor and higher current capacity, making it better for high-power applications, but it's also stiffer and more difficult to route through tight spaces. The 14AWG offers a practical middle ground for most RC hobby applications, providing adequate current capacity with superior flexibility for complex wiring runs.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The 14AWG gauge is one of the most forgiving to work with—stiff enough to hold its shape during soldering but flexible enough to route easily. If you're new to RC and learning to solder, this wire is an excellent choice. Our team can advise on proper soldering technique if you're getting started.
- Do I need heat shrink tubing with this wire? — Heat shrink tubing isn't absolutely necessary but is highly recommended. It protects solder joints from accidental contact with other components or battery terminals, prevents moisture ingress, and creates a professional-looking installation. ETRONIX and other brands offer heat shrink tubing in matching colours for perfectly coordinated builds.
