Overview

The Etronix 12AWG Silicone Wire Orange (100cm) is a premium-quality electrical cable designed specifically for RC enthusiasts and hobby builders across the UK. Whether you're setting up a high-performance RC car, constructing custom wiring harnesses, or maintaining existing models, this 12 AWG gauge silicone-sheathed cable provides the reliability and performance you need. The distinctive orange jacket makes it easy to identify wiring runs in your RC projects, ensuring neat and organised electrical installations that look as professional as they perform.

If you're building or upgrading an RC model in the UK, sourcing the right components makes all the difference between a project that merely works and one that excels. This silicone wire from Etronix is specifically engineered to handle the demanding electrical requirements of RC motors and power systems. The 100cm length gives you plenty of material to work with, whether you need to create a single long run or cut the wire into multiple segments for different applications. RC enthusiasts and professional builders alike rely on quality silicone-insulated cable because it resists heat, remains flexible in cold conditions, and maintains excellent electrical conductivity under load.

Silicone insulation has become the gold standard for RC applications because it simply outperforms standard PVC alternatives. When you're pushing power through a brushless motor or connecting high-current battery systems, cheap insulation can degrade, crack, or fail entirely. Etronix's silicone construction ensures your wiring stays safe, reliable, and functional for years of RC bashings, races, and competitive driving. This is the kind of component that serious RC car UK builders specify when they're building something that needs to last.

Key Features

  • 12 AWG Gauge Wire — This wire diameter is precisely engineered to handle the power demands of RC motor circuits and battery connections without introducing excessive resistance that would waste energy or generate dangerous heat. The 12 AWG rating ensures adequate current-carrying capacity for high-performance electric drive systems commonly used in 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC vehicles.
  • Silicone Insulation — Unlike budget PVC-insulated cable, the silicone sheath provides superior heat resistance, flexibility, and durability. Silicone remains pliable even in cold conditions and resists cracking when flexed repeatedly, which is essential for wiring that gets routed through moving parts and tight spaces in RC models.
  • Orange Colour — The bright orange jacket isn't just for aesthetics; it makes your wiring instantly recognisable and easier to trace during assembly, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Colour-coding your electrical runs is a professional practice that prevents connection mistakes and saves time when diagnosing electrical issues.
  • 100cm Length — One metre of wire gives you flexibility in your RC project design. You can run a single long connection from battery to motor, create multiple shorter segments, or combine this wire with other colours to build a complete colour-coded wiring loom that matches the professionalism of factory-built RC models.
  • Multi-Core Conductor — The multi-core construction means the wire comprises multiple strands twisted together, rather than a single solid conductor. This design provides superior flexibility compared to solid-core wire, allowing easier routing through tight spaces and reducing the risk of breakage from repeated flexing during RC driving and maintenance.
  • Suitable for Motor Applications — Etronix specifically engineered this cable for motor connections, meaning it's rated for the exact voltage and current demands you'll encounter connecting RC brushless or brushed motors to your electronic speed controller and battery pack.

Technical Performance

The Etronix 12AWG Silicone Wire represents the engineering quality you'd expect from a brand trusted by RC enthusiasts throughout the UK. At 12 AWG gauge, this wire offers an ideal balance between current-carrying capacity and physical size. This gauge is particularly popular in RC applications because it can safely handle the 30-100+ amp currents produced by high-performance brushless motor systems without excessive voltage drop, yet remains manageable in terms of size and weight for installation in confined RC chassis spaces. The silicone insulation is rated for the temperature extremes your RC model will experience—from the heat generated by sustained motor operation to the cold conditions of winter driving. The multi-core strand construction provides the flexibility necessary for RC applications where wiring must be routed around motor mounts, speed controllers, and battery compartments, then potentially flexed or repositioned during maintenance and upgrades. The orange colour is both practical and visually distinct, making it the standard choice for positive power connections in professional RC installations. Whether you're building a custom motor harness, replacing damaged factory wiring, or creating redundant power runs for high-current applications, this cable delivers the reliability that separates well-built RC models from problematic ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is 12 AWG silicone wire suitable for high-performance RC motor connections? — Yes, absolutely. The 12 AWG gauge is specifically engineered for motor applications and can safely handle the 30-100+ amp currents produced by modern brushless systems used in competitive RC car UK builds. The silicone insulation resists the heat these currents generate, and the multi-core construction provides the flexibility needed for routing through RC chassis.
  • Can I use this wire for battery connections on my RC model? — Yes. This 12 AWG silicone wire is perfectly suited for battery-to-ESC connections and battery-to-motor connections. Its 100cm length gives you adequate material to work with most RC car and truck configurations, and you can trim it to your specific needs.
  • What is the metric equivalent of 12 AWG? — The approximate metric conversion is 2.64mm. If you're sourcing replacement wire or comparing this to metric-specified components, this measurement ensures compatibility with your RC project specifications.
  • Why silicone wire instead of standard PVC cable? — Silicone insulation outperforms PVC in every way that matters for RC applications. It remains flexible at low temperatures, resists heat from motor operation, tolerates repeated flexing without cracking, and lasts significantly longer than PVC even under demanding conditions. Professional RC enthusiasts and builders consistently choose silicone for reliability.
  • How do I know if this wire gauge is right for my RC setup? — If you're running a high-current brushless motor system (which is standard in modern ready-to-run RC cars and competitive builds), 12 AWG is the professional standard. It provides adequate capacity without introducing excessive resistance. For lower-power applications, you might use 14 or 16 AWG, but for general-purpose motor connections and battery runs, 12 AWG is the safe choice.
  • Is 100cm enough wire for my RC project? — One metre provides substantial length for most RC car and truck installations. You can run from battery to speed controller to motor, or create multiple segments by cutting the wire to length. If your specific layout requires longer runs, you can combine multiple lengths of this wire using solder joints or quality crimped connectors.
