It's designed with the RC hobbyist in mind, making it equally suitable for preparing battery connectors, soldering plugs, joining wire harnesses, or any other electrical assembly work you might encounter in your RC hobby pursuits.
Built by Etronix, a trusted brand in the RC and hobby electronics space, this soldering helper jig board combines practical engineering with user-friendly design. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor running competitive 1/10 scale buggies or a weekend basher enjoying casual RC car fun, having the right tools makes all the difference. This compact, bench-friendly unit won't clutter your workspace, yet it delivers professional-grade functionality that will transform the way you approach soldering and component assembly work.
Key Features
- 360-Degree Rotating Arms — The two articulated arms rotate a full 360 degrees, allowing you to position your work from virtually any angle, ensuring you can access components precisely as needed and maintain optimal sightlines whilst soldering.
- 180-Degree Vertical Movement — The arms move up and down through 180 degrees of vertical articulation, giving you complete freedom to adjust the height and orientation of your components for comfortable, ergonomic working positions.
- Secure Gripping Mechanism — The grips are engineered to hold connectors, plugs, and wire firmly in place without applying excessive pressure that could damage delicate components, and critically, they help prevent the risk of overheating sensitive electronics during soldering work.
- Ideal for Extra Hands Requirements — This tool is purpose-built for those soldering tasks where you would normally need another person to hold components steady, effectively giving you the assistance of an extra set of hands whenever you need it most.
- Compact Bench-Friendly Design — With dimensions of just 150mm x 60mm and a lightweight construction at 230g, the soldering helper jig board takes minimal space on your workbench, leaving plenty of room for your soldering iron, solder spool, and other tools.
- Perfect for Pit and Flight Bench Work — Whether you're working at an RC car pit during track days or assembling your aircraft at the flying field, this portable helper jig is the reliable companion that makes soldering and component assembly straightforward and safe.
Technical Performance
The Etronix Soldering Helper Jig Board is engineered with practical functionality at its core. The unit measures 150mm in length by 60mm in width, making it compact enough to fit comfortably on any workbench or pit table without consuming excessive space. The dual articulated arms provide exceptional flexibility, rotating through a full 360 degrees and moving vertically through 180 degrees, which means you can position components at virtually any angle required for your soldering work. The grips are designed to securely hold various component types—from battery connectors and JST plugs to wire harnesses and PCB components—without risk of slipping or causing heat damage. The robust construction ensures reliable performance across countless soldering sessions, making this a durable investment for your RC hobby toolkit. Frequently Asked Questions
- How far do the jaws open on the Etronix Soldering Helper Jig Board? — The jaws open to a standard maximum of 16mm, which accommodates most standard connectors, plugs, and wire bundles used in RC hobby work. Some users have found they can tweak the jaws to open slightly further if required for larger components, though this is not standard.
- Is the soldering helper jig suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The Etronix soldering helper jig board is particularly valuable for beginners learning soldering techniques. By securely holding components in place, it eliminates one of the most challenging aspects of soldering—managing multiple components simultaneously—allowing you to focus entirely on developing proper soldering technique and achieving clean, reliable joints.
- What types of connectors and components can it hold? — The grips are designed to securely hold RC battery connectors, JST plugs, XT60 connectors, wire harnesses, and various other electrical components commonly encountered when working with RC cars, trucks, buggies, and aircraft. The flexible gripping system adapts to different component shapes and sizes.
- Why is this better than just using helping hands or a vice? — Unlike traditional helping hands which often have rigid, non-articulated arms, the Etronix soldering helper jig offers superior positioning flexibility with its 360-degree rotation and 180-degree vertical movement. This gives you the angle freedom you need for complex soldering work. Additionally, the specially designed grips are gentler on delicate components than traditional vice clamps, reducing the risk of crushing or overheating electronics.
- Can this be used for other tasks besides soldering? — Yes, the soldering helper jig board is versatile enough for various pit and workbench tasks requiring stable component positioning. Many RC modellers use it for assembly work, gluing, painting, or any task where you need reliable hands-free component holding.
- Is this jig compatible with all soldering iron types? — The Etronix soldering helper jig board is a passive holding device and works with any soldering iron or soldering station. There are no electrical connections, so compatibility is universal—whether you use a budget soldering iron, a professional station, or a wireless soldering tool.
