Key Features

  • 4.0mm Primary Connection — The 4.0mm connector serves as the main input point, providing a robust and reliable connection standard that's widely used across RC batteries and chargers, ensuring compatibility with most modern RC power systems.
  • Multiple Connector Terminations — With six different connector options (Deans, Futaba, JST, Tamiya, EC3, and TRX) plus a DIY extra wire, this single lead handles virtually every connector type you're likely to encounter in your RC hobby, eliminating the need for multiple separate adapters cluttering your workshop.
  • Deans Connector Option — The Deans connector termination provides a secure, low-resistance connection favoured by many RC enthusiasts for its reliability and widespread adoption across quality RC equipment and batteries.
  • Futaba Connector Compatibility — Support for Futaba-style connectors makes this lead invaluable if you use Futaba chargers or equipment, ensuring seamless integration with Futaba RC systems and accessories.
  • JST Connector Support — The JST connector option caters to many modern RC batteries and electronic components, providing compatibility with newer RC equipment that uses JST-style connectors as standard.
  • Tamiya Connector Termination — Tamiya connectors remain popular across many budget-friendly and entry-level RC vehicles, and this adapter includes full support for classic and contemporary Tamiya-equipped RC cars and trucks.
  • EC3 Connector Compatibility — The EC3 connector option ensures compatibility with many quality RC batteries and power systems that use this popular connector standard, giving you flexibility across different RC manufacturers.
  • TRX Connector Support — Support for TRX-style connectors (used by Traxxas models) makes this lead essential if you run Traxxas RC vehicles, which are extremely popular in the UK RC community.
  • DIY Extra Wire — The inclusion of a DIY extra wire gives you the flexibility to create custom connections or extend functionality for specialised RC applications, offering maximum versatility for experienced RC builders and modifiers.
  • Versatile RC Application Use — This lead is suitable for linking chargers, batteries, and electronics in virtually any RC setup, making it useful for RC car enthusiasts, RC truck drivers, RC buggy racers, and RC crawler pilots across all scales and disciplines.

Technical Performance

The Etronix ET0280 represents a pragmatic engineering solution to one of the most common frustrations in the RC hobby: connector incompatibility. Built with quality materials and careful attention to electrical safety, this adapter lead features a 4.0mm gold-plated or high-quality connector at the main input, ensuring minimal voltage drop and reliable power transfer for everything from small electric RC cars to larger RC trucks and buggies. The multiple connector terminations are individually engineered to match industry-standard specifications, meaning whether you're connecting a LiPo battery with a Deans connector to an RC charger with a Futaba port, or bridging equipment with JST and Tamiya connections, you'll get a secure, reliable fit every time. The DIY extra wire component provides additional flexibility for builders and technicians who need to customise their RC setups. Whether you're running brushless or brushed RC motors, using 2S, 3S, 4S, or higher-cell LiPo batteries, or managing multiple RC vehicles from different manufacturers, this lead handles the job without introducing resistance or unreliability into your power chain. The robust construction means this adapter will withstand the rigours of regular RC use, from casual backyard bashing to competitive racing at UK RC clubs and events.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What connectors does the Etronix ET0280 support? — The Etronix ET0280 provides terminations for six popular connector types: Deans, Futaba, JST, Tamiya, EC3, and TRX styles. It also includes a DIY extra wire for custom applications. This comprehensive range covers the vast majority of RC equipment available, from entry-level starter sets to high-end competitive RC cars and trucks.
  • Is this adapter suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The ET0280 is ideal for beginners because it eliminates one of the most common frustrations newcomers face: incompatible connectors between batteries and chargers. If you're just getting into RC and have equipment from different manufacturers, this single lead provides a simple solution without requiring soldering skills or advanced knowledge.
  • What is the 4.0mm connection? — The 4.0mm connector is the primary input point on this adapter lead. It's a widely-used standard in RC applications, commonly found on quality RC batteries, chargers, and power distribution systems. The 4.0mm specification refers to the diameter of the connector pins, providing reliable electrical contact for power transfer.
  • Can I use this with any RC vehicle? — The Etronix ET0280 is compatible with any RC application that uses one of its supported connector types: Deans, Futaba, JST, Tamiya, EC3, or TRX. This covers RC cars, RC trucks, RC buggies, RC crawlers, and virtually any other RC vehicle type. Compatibility depends on what connectors your specific battery, charger, and RC electronics use rather than the vehicle type itself.
  • What batteries can I use this adapter with? — The ET0280 is a passive adapter lead that works with any battery type that has one of its supported connector types (Deans, Futaba, JST, Tamiya, EC3, or TRX). This includes LiPo batteries (from 2S to 6S and beyond), NiMH batteries, and other RC power systems. Simply match the connector on your battery to one of the available terminations on this lead.
  • Is the DIY extra wire meant for soldering? — The DIY extra wire component provides flexibility for custom applications. Experienced RC builders and technicians can use this wire to create bespoke connections or extend the functionality of the lead for specialised RC setups. If you're not experienced with electrical connections, we recommend consulting with experienced RC enthusiasts at RC clubs or forums before attempting custom modifications.
  • How does this compare to having multiple separate adapters? — Rather than purchasing individual adapters for each connector type (Deans-to-Futaba, Tamiya-to-JST, etc.), the ET0280 consolidates all these options into one handy lead. This saves money, reduces clutter in your RC workshop, and ensures you always have the right adapter on hand without having to hunt through a pile of connectors.
  • Will this work with my Traxxas RC vehicle? — Yes, if your Traxxas vehicle uses TRX-style connectors (which many Traxxas models do), the ET0280 includes TRX termination for full compatibility. This makes it particularly useful for UK RC enthusiasts who run Traxxas equipment alongside vehicles from other manufacturers.
