Overview

The Etronix 3 Mode Servo Tester (ET0052) is an essential diagnostic tool for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision and reliability in their radio-controlled vehicles. Whether you're setting up a new RC car, buggy, truggy, or crawler, this compact servo checker simplifies the process of testing and configuring your servos and electronic speed controllers. Designed by Etronix, a recognised manufacturer of quality RC accessories, this servo tester eliminates guesswork from servo setup and provides immediate feedback on servo operation, making it invaluable for both beginners discovering RC for the first time and experienced hobbyists fine-tuning competition-grade machines.

The beauty of the Etronix 3 Mode Servo Tester lies in its simplicity combined with genuine functionality. Rather than relying on your main RC transmitter to test servos—which can introduce variables and inconsistencies—this dedicated testing device gives you complete control over servo evaluation. It's lightweight, portable, and affordable, making it a tool every RC hobbyist should keep in their workshop. From checking reaction times to resetting neutral points and assessing maximum throw, the ET0052 covers all the fundamental servo diagnostic needs. If you're building a custom RC setup, swapping servos, or troubleshooting steering or throttle issues on your RC car, this tester pays for itself many times over by saving you time and preventing installation errors.

Available now in stock at RC Model Shop, the Etronix 3 Mode Servo Tester is the perfect companion to any RC collection. At just £2.99, it represents exceptional value for money and is suitable for use with 1 to 3 servos simultaneously, or for testing your ESC (electronic speed controller). No matter what type of RC vehicle you operate—whether it's a high-speed stadium truck, a rock crawling buggy, or anything in between—having a reliable servo tester on hand is simply best practice.

Key Features

  • Three Operating Modes — The ET0052 offers three distinct operational modes, each designed for a specific diagnostic purpose, meaning you have complete flexibility in how you evaluate your servos and ESC without needing multiple tools.
  • Manual Mode with Variable Control — Manual Mode allows you to check servo reaction times by varying the dial position smoothly across the full range, helping you verify that your servo responds correctly and consistently to control inputs.
  • Neutral Mode for Setup — Neutral Mode makes it simple to reset your servo to its neutral (centre) point, which is essential when installing new servos or when recalibrating steering or throttle channels after maintenance or adjustment.
  • Automatic Mode Window Wiper Function — Automatic Mode performs a continuous 'window wiper' test that cycles your servo through its maximum throw range, allowing you to visually confirm that the servo travels smoothly and reaches its full mechanical limits without binding or hesitation.
  • Multi-Servo Capability — The tester can check 1 to 3 servos simultaneously or test your ESC, making it versatile enough to handle complex RC setups and multi-servo configurations found in crawlers and scale models.
  • Simple Dial Interface — The intuitive dial-based control system requires no programming, batteries, or complex setup—just connect your servo and start testing, making it accessible even for newcomers to RC hobby.

Technical Performance

The Etronix 3 Mode Servo Tester is engineered as a straightforward, no-frills diagnostic instrument that prioritises reliability and ease of use over unnecessary complexity. The device features a simple mechanical dial interface that allows smooth, stepless variation of control signals in Manual Mode, giving you precise feedback on servo performance. The three selectable modes are accessed without any digital menus or confusing button combinations—everything is mechanical and tactile, which means there's nothing to learn and no operational error possible. The tester's compact design makes it highly portable, so you can carry it to the track, to your local RC car club, or keep it permanently in your pit box. It is constructed to exacting standards by Etronix, a brand recognised throughout the RC community for producing durable, practical accessories. The ET0052 is compatible with standard RC servo plugs and industry-standard ESC connectors, meaning it will work with virtually any servo or speed controller in your collection, regardless of brand or age. This universal compatibility is a significant advantage, as it means your investment in this tester won't become obsolete as you upgrade or add to your RC fleet.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a servo tester and why do I need one for my RC car? — A servo tester is a standalone device that lets you diagnose servo operation independently from your main RC transmitter and receiver. This is crucial because it lets you verify that a servo is working correctly before installing it in your vehicle, troubleshoot steering or throttle problems, and set neutral points without powering up your entire RC car or buggy. If you're setting up a new RC model, swapping servos, or diagnosing control issues, a servo tester saves significant time and prevents installation mistakes.
  • How many servos can the Etronix ET0052 test at once? — The ET0052 can test 1 to 3 servos simultaneously, making it suitable for standard RC cars, buggies, and trucks with multiple steering or throttle servos. It can also test your ESC (electronic speed controller) to verify that the throttle channel is responding correctly.
  • What does the Automatic Mode do? — Automatic Mode runs a continuous 'window wiper' test that cycles your servo back and forth through its full range of motion automatically. This is incredibly useful for spotting binding, dead spots, jitter, or other performance issues that might not be immediately obvious in manual testing. It also lets you verify that your servo can reach its maximum throw limits without modification.
  • Is the Etronix 3 Mode Servo Tester suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The ET0052 is one of the most beginner-friendly servo testing tools available because it requires no setup, programming, or even a battery—it's purely mechanical. Simply connect your servo and turn the dial or select the mode. There's nothing to learn, making it ideal for anyone new to RC hobby who wants to check their servos before installation.
  • What's the difference between Manual Mode and Automatic Mode? — Manual Mode gives you full control over servo position using the dial, allowing you to test reaction time and move the servo to any specific position you want. Automatic Mode takes control away and cycles the servo continuously through its full range, which is better for spotting problems and verifying complete travel without operator intervention.
  • Can I use the Etronix tester with any brand of servo? — Yes. The ET0052 uses standard RC servo connectors, so it will work with servos from Futaba, Spektrum, Savöx, Reedy, Traxxas, and any other RC brand. This universal compatibility is one of the biggest advantages of owning a dedicated servo tester.
  • Do I need batteries or a power source to use the ET0052? — Yes, you will need to provide power to the servo tester. However, the source material does not specify the power requirements (voltage or battery type). We recommend contacting RC Model Shop directly on 01543 577278 for detailed technical specifications regarding power input.
  • What is Neutral Mode used for? — Neutral Mode automatically returns your servo to its centre (neutral) position. This is essential when installing a new servo, as you need to centre it before installation to ensure proper steering or throttle response. It's also useful if you've adjusted a servo and want to return it to centre quickly without guesswork.
