Overview
The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 550 CPS is an essential maintenance product for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand the best performance from their shock absorbers. Whether you're a weekend basher enjoying your RC car at the local track, a competitive racer fine-tuning suspension setups, or an experienced RC hobbyist maintaining multiple vehicles, having the right shock oil is crucial for consistent damping performance and longevity of your suspension components. This 150ml bottle of premium silicone shock oil delivers the precision and reliability that discerning RC car owners expect from Team Corally, a manufacturer recognised worldwide for high-quality RC products and accessories.
Shock oil selection is often overlooked by newer RC enthusiasts, but it represents one of the most important aspects of suspension tuning and maintenance in RC motorsport. The viscosity of your shock oil directly affects how your suspension responds to track conditions, bumps, and cornering forces. Too thin and your shocks won't provide adequate damping; too thick and your suspension becomes sluggish and unresponsive. The Corally 550 CPS formulation strikes an excellent balance for a wide range of RC vehicles and driving conditions, making it a versatile choice for the RC hobby community in the UK and beyond.
Team Corally's Ultra Pure Silicone formula represents the gold standard in shock oil manufacturing. The brand's commitment to purity means you're getting a product free from contaminants and impurities that could compromise suspension performance or clog delicate damper mechanisms. When you invest in quality shock oil from a trusted RC parts manufacturer, you're protecting your investment in expensive RC vehicles and ensuring they perform at their absolute best, whether on tarmac, carpet, or loose surfaces.
Key Features
- 100% Pure Silicone Formula — This shock oil is manufactured from 100% pure silicone, ensuring absolute consistency in viscosity and performance across all temperature ranges and driving conditions. Purity is essential because contaminated or lower-grade shock oils can leave residue inside your damper tubes, affecting seal performance and creating friction that degrades damping characteristics over time.
- 550 CST Viscosity Grade — The 550 centistokes viscosity marking represents a medium-weight shock oil suitable for general-purpose RC car suspension tuning. This viscosity is ideal for drivers who want a balanced setup that works well in various conditions without requiring frequent oil changes between different track surfaces or weather patterns.
- 150ml Bottle Size — The 150ml capacity provides enough shock oil to service multiple vehicles or perform multiple suspension adjustments and refinements on the same car. For RC car owners who regularly maintain their fleet or experiment with suspension setups, this size offers excellent value without requiring frequent reordering.
- Precise Viscosity Control — Team Corally's manufacturing process ensures that every bottle of 550 CPS oil maintains exact viscosity specifications, meaning your suspension tuning remains consistent and predictable. When you adjust shock oil viscosity as part of your RC car's setup, you need to know that the product you're using today will perform identically to the product you used six months ago.
- Professional-Grade Quality — This is the same shock oil used by competitive RC drivers and race teams who cannot tolerate any variation in suspension performance. Whether you're competing in formal RC racing events or simply want your ready to run RC car to perform like a competition vehicle, professional-grade shock oil ensures you have the best possible foundation for chassis setup.
- Versatile Application — The 550 CPS viscosity works across a wide range of RC vehicle types and scales, from small electric RC buggies to larger RC trucks and crawler vehicles. This versatility makes it an excellent addition to any RC enthusiast's workshop, providing a single shock oil option that handles most suspension tuning scenarios.
Technical Performance
The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 550 CPS represents the pinnacle of suspension fluid engineering for the RC hobby. At 550 centistokes (cSt), this medium-viscosity oil provides the ideal balance between responsive damping and controlled energy absorption for most RC driving scenarios and vehicle types commonly used in the UK RC market. The ultra-pure silicone formulation ensures that the oil maintains its viscosity characteristics consistently throughout its service life, without breaking down or degrading even under the high temperatures and pressures generated inside shock absorbers during aggressive driving. This stability is critical because any variation in oil viscosity would translate directly into suspension performance changes that would throw off your carefully tuned setup. The 150ml bottle size is housed in a standard squeeze bottle design that allows for precise dispensing when refilling shock absorbers or adjusting damper fluid levels. Team Corally's commitment to manufacturing excellence means that every batch of this shock oil undergoes rigorous quality control testing to ensure it meets the exact specifications printed on the label. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK who take their hobby seriously, this level of quality control and consistency provides the confidence that their suspension setups will perform predictably and reliably, whether testing new chassis configurations at the local track or competing in organised RC racing events. The silicone-based formula also provides superior water resistance compared to some alternative shock oil formulations, making it a smart choice for drivers who occasionally encounter wet conditions or use their RC vehicles in varied weather situations.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity shock oil should I use for my RC car? — Shock oil viscosity selection depends on your vehicle type, track surface, and driving style. The 550 CST grade is considered a medium-weight oil that works well for general-purpose RC driving across most vehicle types. Lighter oils (lower CST numbers like 350 or 400) provide faster suspension response ideal for smooth tracks, whilst heavier oils (higher CST numbers like 700 or 1000) offer more controlled damping for rough terrain and aggressive driving. The 550 CPS option is the Goldilocks choice for most RC enthusiasts who want a single shock oil that performs reasonably well across varied conditions without needing to maintain multiple bottles.
- Is 100% pure silicone shock oil better than other formulations? — Yes, 100% pure silicone shock oil offers several advantages over lower-grade alternatives. Pure silicone maintains consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, resists water contamination better than mineral oils, and leaves no residue or sludge inside your damper tubes that could affect seal performance or create internal friction. Competitive RC drivers and professional race teams almost exclusively use pure silicone shock oils because the performance consistency is essential for reliable suspension tuning at the highest levels of the sport.
- How often should I change my shock oil? — This depends on how frequently you use your RC vehicle and the conditions you drive in. For casual weekend bashers, shock oil can often last an entire season if the vehicle is well-maintained and seals remain in good condition. For competitive drivers who attend multiple races per month, changing or refreshing shock oil every 5-10 driving sessions is common practice. If you notice that your suspension response is becoming inconsistent or your dampers feel sluggish, it's usually a sign that the shock oil needs refreshing. The 150ml bottle size provides enough oil to service multiple vehicles or perform several oil changes on a single car.
- Will this shock oil work in all my RC vehicles? — The 550 CPS viscosity is a versatile middle-ground option that works well across most RC vehicle types including RC buggies, RC trucks, RC cars, and RC crawlers. However, some specific vehicle setups or extreme driving conditions may benefit from lighter or heavier viscosity oils. Check your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations and your local track's shock oil specifications if you compete in organised events. The universal 550 CPS grade makes this an excellent general-purpose shock oil for RC enthusiasts who own multiple vehicles or who want a single bottle that covers most scenarios.
- Is Corally a trusted brand for RC products? — Yes, Team Corally is a well-established manufacturer of RC vehicles and accessories recognised internationally for quality and reliability. The brand manufactures complete RC buggies, trucks, and vehicles, as well as a comprehensive range of high-quality spare parts and accessories including shock oils, bearings, suspension components, and electronics. When you purchase Corally shock oil, you're getting a product from the same company that manufactures award-winning RC vehicles, which means their shock oils meet the same exacting standards as their complete cars.
- What is the difference between 550 CST and other viscosity grades? — CST stands for centistokes and is a standard measurement of fluid viscosity used globally in the automotive and hobby industries. Lower CST numbers (like 350 or 400) indicate thinner oils that flow more easily and provide less resistance to damper shaft movement, resulting in faster suspension response but potentially less control. Higher CST numbers (like 700, 900, or 1000) indicate thicker oils that provide more resistance and damping force, making the suspension feel more controlled but potentially less responsive. The 550 CST grade sits in the middle of this spectrum, providing a balanced setup that works well for most RC drivers without extreme preferences for either super-responsive or heavily damped suspension.
