Overview

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 450 CPS is an essential maintenance product for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision performance from their shock absorbers. Whether you're a seasoned RC car competitor, a weekend basher enjoying high-speed runs, or someone just discovering the world of RC hobby vehicles, having the correct shock oil viscosity is crucial for optimal suspension performance. This 150ml bottle of ultra-pure silicone shock oil represents the gold standard in suspension fluid technology, ensuring your RC model maintains consistent damping characteristics across a wide range of driving conditions and temperatures.

Shock oil is the lifeblood of any RC vehicle's suspension system, and using the correct viscosity grade is absolutely fundamental to how your car handles, corners and absorbs impacts. The 450 CPS (Centistokes) viscosity rating makes this product suitable for a variety of RC applications, from 1/10 scale buggies and touring cars to larger scale models. The ultra-pure silicone formula ensures minimal degradation over time, meaning your shock performance remains consistent whether you're running at your local RC track in the Midlands or enjoying backyard bashing sessions. For anyone serious about RC model performance, maintaining proper shock oil maintenance is just as important as regular battery care and motor servicing.

RC Model Shop stocks Corally shock oils because we understand that dedicated RC hobbyists in the UK need access to professional-grade maintenance products that deliver results. This particular formulation is engineered specifically for shock absorbers, providing the precise damping response that separates competitive setups from casual weekend runners.

Key Features

  • Ultra Pure Silicone Formula — The 100% pure silicone oil composition ensures maximum purity without contaminants or additives that could degrade suspension performance over time, making it ideal for maintaining consistent shock response across multiple race sessions or bashing days.
  • 450 CPS Viscosity Rating — This mid-range viscosity grade is carefully engineered to provide optimal damping characteristics across a broad spectrum of RC vehicle scales and driving styles, from tight technical courses to high-speed open tracks.
  • 150ml Bottle Size — The practical 150ml capacity provides sufficient shock oil for multiple fill-ups and maintenance intervals, making it an economical choice for RC enthusiasts who maintain their vehicles regularly.
  • Precise Suspension Tuning — Using the correct shock oil viscosity allows you to fine-tune your RC car's suspension characteristics, improving handling, cornering stability and overall driving experience without needing expensive suspension component replacements.
  • Professional Grade Quality — Manufactured by Team Corally, a recognised name in RC performance products, this shock oil meets the exacting standards demanded by competitive RC drivers and serious hobbyists throughout the UK and Europe.
  • Universal Compatibility — The standard 450 CPS viscosity is compatible with most modern RC shock absorber designs, making it a versatile choice whether you're running Corally vehicles or other mainstream RC brands.
  • Temperature Stable Performance — Quality silicone oil resists viscosity breakdown across temperature ranges, ensuring your suspension performs consistently whether you're driving in summer heat or cooler autumn conditions.
  • Easy Application — The bottle design facilitates precise pouring into shock bodies, with minimal waste and maximum control over the exact amount of oil you apply to each suspension unit.

Technical Performance

The Corally Shock Oil Ultra Pure Silicone 450 CPS represents engineered precision in suspension maintenance. The 450 cSt (centistoke) viscosity specification is measured at standardised conditions and defines the oil's resistance to flow — this particular grade sits in the middle of the viscosity spectrum, making it suitable for numerous RC applications including 1/10 scale touring cars, buggies, and various other vehicle types. The ultra-pure silicone formulation is free from additives and contaminants, which is critical because impurities can cause shock seals to degrade prematurely and alter damping characteristics unpredictably. The 150ml bottle provides ample volume for multiple shock refills; a typical 1/10 scale shock absorber holds approximately 3-5ml of oil, meaning this single bottle can service multiple vehicles or provide several maintenance intervals for the same vehicle. The pure silicone base ensures minimal evaporation or degradation when exposed to air between uses, and the formula resists temperature-induced viscosity changes that would otherwise compromise suspension tuning. When you're investing in precision RC performance, whether competing at your local RC track or enjoying recreational driving, using proper maintenance products like this shock oil ensures your suspension investment delivers consistent, predictable handling. The product comes with safety documentation (MSDS sheets in English and other European languages) confirming it meets relevant safety and quality standards for RC hobby use.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 450 CPS mean and how do I know if it's the right viscosity for my RC car? — CPS (centipoise) measures oil viscosity or thickness. 450 CPS is a medium viscosity suitable for most 1/10 scale RC vehicles and many larger models. Lighter oils (e.g., 250 CPS) provide softer, more responsive damping ideal for smooth tracks, whilst heavier oils (e.g., 700 CPS) offer stiffer damping for rough terrain. Consult your vehicle's manual or experiment with different viscosities to find the setting that suits your local track conditions and driving style best.
  • How often should I replace the shock oil in my RC car? — Shock oil should be inspected regularly during maintenance routines. If it appears discoloured, contains debris, or your suspension feels inconsistent, it's time for a refresh. Competitive drivers often change shock oil before important races to ensure peak performance. Casual bashers can typically go through 2-3 seasons before requiring complete oil changes, though visual inspection is always the best guide.
  • Is ultra-pure silicone oil better than standard shock oil? — Yes, significantly. Ultra-pure formulations contain minimal additives and contaminants, which means more consistent damping performance and longer shock seal lifespan. Standard shock oils may contain fillers or additives that can accumulate inside shock bodies and alter performance unpredictably over time. For serious RC enthusiasts in the UK who want reliable, tunable suspension, ultra-pure silicone is the professional choice.
  • Will this shock oil work in my non-Corally RC vehicle? — Absolutely. The 450 CPS viscosity is a universal standard used across most RC brands including Traxxas, ARRMA, Losi, and many others. Any RC vehicle using shock absorbers with standard seals can be serviced with this oil. The universal compatibility makes it an economical purchase if you own multiple RC cars from different manufacturers.
  • How should I store shock oil to maintain its quality? — Keep the bottle in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and temperature extremes. Ensure the cap is tightly sealed between uses to minimise air exposure and evaporation. Properly stored, a sealed bottle of quality silicone oil can maintain its properties for several years, making it excellent value for money.
  • What's the difference between 450 CPS and other viscosity grades available? — Lower viscosity oils like 250 CPS flow more freely, providing lighter damping and quicker shock response — ideal for high-grip surfaces and technical courses. Higher viscosity oils like 700 CPS create stiffer damping, better for rough terrain and maintaining ride height on bumpy tracks. 450 CPS sits comfortably in the middle, offering balanced performance across diverse conditions.
