Key Features

  • Special Hardened Steel Construction — Manufactured from high-grade hardened steel that provides exceptional resistance to wear, breakage and deformation during intense racing or bashing sessions, ensuring your pinion gear maintains its performance over countless hours of use.
  • CNC Cut Teeth for Perfect Geometry — Each tooth is precision-cut on computer-controlled machinery to deliver perfect tooth shape and concentricity, eliminating meshing issues, reducing noise and ensuring smooth, consistent power transfer from motor to drivetrain without vibration or binding.
  • 64DP Module Rating — The 64 Diametral Pitch specification means this pinion is compatible with all standard 64DP gear systems used in modern RC cars, making it a universal upgrade option for vehicles using this drivetrain standard.
  • 36 Tooth Configuration — The 36-tooth count provides an excellent balance between acceleration and top speed, making this a versatile choice for various track types and driving conditions without requiring extreme motor speeds.
  • 3.17mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — Designed to fit precisely onto standard 3.17mm diameter motor shafts, this pinion gear works seamlessly with the vast majority of brushless and brushed RC car motors available on the UK market.
  • Individual Tooth Identification Marking — Each pinion is clearly marked with its tooth number, enabling quick and accurate identification when managing multiple gears for different setups, and simplifying the process of finding the correct ratio during maintenance and configuration changes.
  • Ultra-True Running for Vibration-Free Operation — The combination of special manufacturing processes and precision tolerances ensures the gear runs with exceptional runout accuracy, delivering smooth acceleration, consistent mesh with spur gears, and reduced drivetrain stress.
  • Made in Europe — Manufactured to exacting European engineering standards, this pinion represents the quality and reliability you expect from a premium RC component supplier serving the competitive RC car UK community.
  • 4mm Teeth Width — The generous teeth width provides robust contact surface with the spur gear, distributing loads evenly across the tooth profile and reducing the risk of tooth stripping or damage during aggressive acceleration or challenging driving conditions.
  • 9mm Gear Length — The optimised gear length ensures proper mesh with standard RC car spur gears whilst maintaining compact sizing for applications where space is at a premium.
  • 1.5mm Hex Key Mounting — Uses a standard 1.5mm hex key for secure fastening to your motor shaft, making installation and removal straightforward without requiring specialised tools.

Technical Performance

The Corally 64 DP Pinion represents the pinnacle of RC gear engineering, combining advanced materials science with precision manufacturing techniques to deliver uncompromising performance. At the heart of this pinion's excellence is its special hardened steel composition, which provides superior resistance to the extreme stresses encountered in competitive RC racing environments. The 36-tooth configuration delivers an optimal performance envelope for most RC car applications, providing a balanced relationship between acceleration response and top-speed capability without pushing motor speeds into the danger zone where efficiency drops and component lifespan diminishes. The 64DP module specification aligns this gear with modern RC car standards, ensuring compatibility with contemporary brushless and brushed motor systems rated for 3.17mm shafts. The manufacturing process utilises CNC precision cutting to achieve tooth geometries that eliminate micro-vibrations, meshing noise and power loss inherent in lower-quality gear components. With a teeth width of 4mm and overall length of 9mm, the gear offers substantial load-bearing capacity whilst maintaining compact proportions essential for space-constrained RC car chassis designs. The ultra-true running characteristics, achieved through precision tolerances on both the gear bore and tooth profile, ensure that vibration remains virtually undetectable even at maximum throttle, translating directly to improved handling precision, reduced component wear, and extended drivetrain lifespan. For RC enthusiasts seeking replacement gears or exploring different gearing ratios to optimise their setup, this pinion delivers the engineering quality and performance reliability expected from a manufacturer serving competitive RC car UK racing series.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a 64DP pinion gear and why would I need one for my RC car? — A 64DP pinion gear is the small gear on your RC car's motor that meshes with a larger spur gear to transfer power to the drivetrain. The 64DP specification refers to the Diametral Pitch, which determines the gear's size and tooth spacing. You would need a pinion gear like this one if you're replacing a worn component, upgrading to higher-quality gears for improved performance, or adjusting your gear ratio to optimise your RC car's speed and acceleration characteristics for different track conditions.
  • How does a 36-tooth pinion compare to other tooth counts? — The 36-tooth configuration represents a middle-ground approach to gear ratios. Lower tooth counts (such as 33T or 34T) create higher gear ratios that favour top speed but require more acceleration distance, whilst higher tooth counts (such as 37T or 39T) create lower gear ratios that favour acceleration and torque but reduce maximum speed. The 36T pinion is an excellent all-rounder suitable for most track types without requiring motor modifications, and is one of the most popular tooth counts for competitive RC racing in the UK.
  • What is the difference between hardened steel and standard steel pinion gears? — Hardened steel pinion gears undergo a heat treatment process that significantly increases their hardness and resistance to wear, deformation and breakage compared to standard steel gears. This means hardened steel gears maintain their tooth profile longer, resist stripping under aggressive acceleration, and generally deliver superior longevity and consistent performance throughout their service life, making them ideal for competitive racing and intensive use.
  • Will this pinion gear fit my RC car? — This pinion gear will fit any RC car equipped with 64DP drivetrain components and a motor with a 3.17mm diameter shaft. Most modern brushless and brushed RC car motors use 3.17mm shafts, and 64DP is the standard module for contemporary RC vehicles in the UK. However, you should verify that your vehicle uses 64DP gears (not 48DP, 32DP or other specifications) before purchasing. If you're unsure, the knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop can help identify the correct specifications for your specific vehicle.
  • How do I install this pinion gear on my motor? — Installation is straightforward: use a 1.5mm hex key to secure the pinion gear onto your 3.17mm motor shaft. Ensure the gear is positioned correctly to achieve proper mesh with your spur gear (there should be a slight amount of lateral play). Secure it firmly but avoid over-tightening, which could damage the motor shaft. Always check mesh depth before running your RC car to prevent gear damage or binding.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst this pinion gear is a quality component suitable for any skill level, replacing gears typically appeals more to intermediate and advanced RC enthusiasts who actively maintain and tune their vehicles. Beginners are more likely to purchase complete ready-to-run RC cars that include gears as part of the assembly. However, if you're learning to maintain your RC car and understand drivetrain mechanics, this premium Corally component is an excellent choice for your first gear upgrade.
  • What makes Corally pinion gears different from cheaper alternatives? — Corally gears are manufactured to exacting European standards using precision CNC machinery and premium hardened steel materials. The difference lies in the tooth geometry accuracy, material consistency, and concentricity tolerances—cheaper gears often exhibit run-out that causes vibration, noise and uneven mesh characteristics. Corally gears deliver measurably smoother operation, longer lifespan, better acceleration response and improved overall RC car performance, justifying the investment for serious enthusiasts.
