Overview

The Corally 64 DP Pinion Short Hardened Steel 26 Teeth Shaft Dia. 3.17mm (C-71326) is a precision-engineered motor pinion gear designed for high-performance RC cars and vehicles requiring reliable, durable drivetrain components. Whether you're building a competitive RC racing setup, upgrading an existing RC car UK system, or maintaining your brushless RC vehicle, this hardened steel pinion delivers the durability and precision fit that serious RC enthusiasts demand. The 26-tooth configuration offers an excellent balance of acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for a wide range of RC applications from track racing to general bashing.

This pinion gear is manufactured to exacting standards by Team Corally, a recognised leader in RC component engineering. The hardened steel construction ensures longevity under demanding driving conditions, resisting wear and deformation even during extended use or competitive racing sessions. With its short design and precise 3.17mm shaft diameter, this pinion integrates seamlessly with compatible motor shafts and drivetrain systems, providing smooth power delivery and consistent performance lap after lap.

RC enthusiasts across the UK rely on Corally pinion gears for their exceptional quality and reliability. Whether you're racing on asphalt, dirt, or mixed terrain, or simply enjoying weekend bashing with your ready to run RC vehicle, having the right pinion gear is essential for optimal performance and longevity of your equipment. This 26-tooth pinion is part of Corally's extensive 64DP range, allowing you to fine-tune your vehicle's gearing to match your specific driving style and track conditions.

Key Features

  • 64DP Specification — The 64 diametral pitch (64DP) rating means this pinion is designed to work with 64DP spur gears and drivetrain components, ensuring precise meshing and smooth power transmission across your RC car's drive system. This standard specification makes it compatible with a wide range of popular RC vehicles and upgrades.
  • 26-Tooth Count — The 26-tooth configuration strikes an ideal balance between acceleration and top speed, making it versatile enough for competitive racing, recreational driving, and general RC car use. This tooth count is popular among RC racers seeking responsive handling with adequate top-end performance.
  • Hardened Steel Construction — Unlike softer materials, the hardened steel used in this pinion resists wear, deformation, and tooth stripping under load, extending the life of your gear and reducing maintenance frequency. This durability is especially important during competitive racing or aggressive driving sessions.
  • Short Design — The short pinion design minimises lateral loading on the motor shaft and bearing system, reducing stress on drivetrain components and promoting longer overall component life. The compact form factor also helps optimise vehicle weight distribution and handling characteristics.
  • Precise 3.17mm Shaft Diameter — The exact 3.17mm bore ensures a secure, wobble-free fit on compatible motor shafts, eliminating play in the drivetrain and maintaining precise power delivery. This tight tolerance is critical for reliable performance and consistent lap times in competitive RC racing.
  • Premium Team Corally Manufacture — Every pinion is manufactured by Team Corally using quality control standards recognised throughout the RC hobby, guaranteeing consistent performance and reliability across all units.

Technical Performance

This Corally 64 DP pinion gear represents the pinnacle of precision RC drivetrain engineering. The hardened steel construction undergoes specialised heat treatment to achieve optimal hardness and durability, resisting the constant stresses of gear meshing, acceleration, and braking cycles that occur during typical RC vehicle operation. The 26-tooth count is precisely calculated to deliver the right balance of motor responsiveness and top-speed capability—sufficient torque for quick acceleration and responsive handling, whilst maintaining adequate top-end performance for high-speed sections of track or terrain. The 3.17mm shaft diameter is engineered to exacting tolerances, ensuring a press-fit assembly with compatible Corally motors and drivetrain systems. When properly installed on a compatible motor shaft, this pinion delivers smooth, efficient power transmission with minimal backlash or noise. The short design minimises the lever arm affecting the motor bearing, reducing mechanical stress and promoting long service life even under the extreme demands of competitive RC racing. Whether you're upgrading a brushless RC vehicle or maintaining an existing setup, this pinion gear is the dependable choice for UK RC enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on drivetrain quality and performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What vehicles is the Corally 64 DP 26-tooth pinion compatible with? — This pinion is designed for any RC vehicle using a 64DP drivetrain system with a 3.17mm motor shaft. Corally vehicles are primary applications, but the 64DP specification means compatibility extends to many other RC car brands and custom builds using 64DP spur gears. Always verify your vehicle's specifications before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
  • Why choose 26 teeth over other tooth counts in the Corally 64DP range? — The 26-tooth pinion offers a well-balanced gear ratio suitable for general RC driving, racing, and bashing. Lower tooth counts (such as 17-20 teeth) provide maximum acceleration and top speed but reduce low-end torque, whilst higher tooth counts (30+ teeth) increase low-end power but limit maximum speed. The 26-tooth option is ideal if you want versatility across different driving styles and track conditions without constant gear changes.
  • How does the hardened steel construction benefit my RC car's performance? — Hardened steel resists wear, deformation, and tooth stripping far more effectively than standard or softer materials. This durability means your pinion maintains precise tooth geometry longer, ensuring consistent mesh with your spur gear, smooth power delivery, and reduced drivetrain noise. In competitive RC racing UK environments, this reliability translates to fewer mechanical failures and more consistent lap times throughout a season.
  • What is the difference between short and long pinion designs? — Short pinions, like this Corally model, minimise the distance between the motor bearing and the gear mesh point, reducing lateral forces and stress on the motor shaft and bearings. This design promotes longevity and precise alignment. Long pinions extend further from the motor body and may offer slightly different mesh characteristics but are typically reserved for specific vehicle designs or custom tuning applications.
  • Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent replacement or upgrade pinion for RC enthusiasts of any experience level. Beginners will benefit from Corally's reputation for quality and reliability, whilst experienced racers appreciate the precision engineering and durability. If you're new to RC car UK hobbies and unsure whether this pinion is compatible with your vehicle, our team at RC Model Shop is happy to help you identify the right components.
  • How often do I need to replace my RC pinion gear? — Pinion gear lifespan depends on driving intensity, maintenance, and the condition of your spur gear and motor bearings. The hardened steel construction of this Corally pinion extends service life significantly. Inspect your pinion regularly for tooth wear or damage, and replace it if you notice chipped teeth, excessive wear, or increased drivetrain noise. Proper maintenance of your entire drivetrain system helps maximise pinion longevity.
