Overview
The Corally Ball Bearing ABEC 3 5x11x4 (2 pcs) is an essential replacement component for RC enthusiasts maintaining and upgrading their radio control models. Whether you're a seasoned RC car UK competitor or a weekend basher keeping your brushless RC buggy in peak condition, quality bearings are fundamental to performance and longevity. These precision-engineered ball bearings from Corally represent the perfect balance of affordability and reliability, making them an ideal choice for both budget-conscious hobbyists and those seeking dependable spare parts for their RC vehicles.
Bearings are the beating heart of any RC car, truck, or crawler. They support rotating shafts, reduce friction, and enable smooth power transfer from motor to wheels. When bearings wear out or develop play, your RC model's performance deteriorates noticeably—acceleration becomes sluggish, turning feels imprecise, and top speed drops. The Corally ABEC 3 bearing specification ensures that you're replacing worn components with parts that meet international precision standards, restoring your ready to run RC setup to its original performance envelope. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking quality spares at competitive prices, these bearings deliver genuine value.
Available in a pack of 2 pieces, this bearing size (5x11x4mm) is commonly found in multiple locations across various RC car platforms, making it a versatile addition to any RC spares box. Having spare bearings on hand means you can quickly service your models between races or casual driving sessions, minimising downtime and maximising enjoyment of your hobby.
Key Features
- ABEC 3 Precision Grade — The ABEC 3 rating indicates these bearings are manufactured to internationally recognised standards for roundness, tolerances, and surface finish, ensuring consistent performance and compatibility with your existing RC components. This precision grade is the industry standard for hobby-grade RC applications, offering excellent value without the premium cost of higher grades.
- Chrome Steel Construction — The bearing rings and balls are manufactured from chrome steel, a material specifically selected for its durability, corrosion resistance, and ability to withstand the stresses common in RC racing and bashing scenarios. Chrome steel maintains its hardness under load and resists wear, extending bearing lifespan significantly compared to lower-quality alternatives.
- Rubber Sealed Design — Each bearing incorporates rubber seals on both sides, protecting the internal ball races from dust, dirt, mud, and water ingress during outdoor driving sessions. This sealing is particularly valuable for UK RC enthusiasts who regularly drive in damp conditions, as it prevents contamination that would otherwise cause premature wear and performance loss.
- 5x11x4mm Size Specification — The precise 5mm inner diameter, 11mm outer diameter, and 4mm width dimensions make these bearings compatible with numerous Corally models and many other RC platforms using this standard bearing pocket size. Before purchase, verify that your specific RC model uses this bearing size by consulting your manual or parts diagrams.
- Pair Pack Format — Supplied as a pair (2 pieces), these bearings are convenient for typical replacement scenarios where a single bearing might fail, allowing you to replace both sides of a shaft simultaneously for balanced performance, or stock spares for future maintenance cycles.
- Quick Replacement Solution — Having quality replacement bearings on hand eliminates downtime waiting for parts to arrive, allowing you to continue enjoying your RC hobby without interruption. For serious RC car UK enthusiasts who race or bash regularly, spare bearings are essential consumables that belong in every pit box.
Technical Performance
The engineering behind quality RC bearings often goes unappreciated until comparison reveals the difference. The Corally ABEC 3 bearing specification indicates that these components have been manufactured to strict tolerances for inner ring runout, outer ring runout, and radial internal clearance—all factors that directly influence how smoothly your RC model's shafts rotate and how efficiently power transfers from motor to drivetrain. Chrome steel construction provides the hardness necessary to resist the repeated impacts and high rotational speeds characteristic of RC driving, whether you're running a fast brushless RC stadium truck on a track or navigating rough terrain in an off-road crawler. The rubber seals protect against the ingress of contamination that would otherwise cause the steel balls to skid against the races rather than rolling smoothly, a condition known as false brinelling that accelerates wear and generates heat. In practical terms, well-maintained bearings with fresh seals will roll with noticeably less friction and play, translating directly to better acceleration response, more consistent cornering, and improved top speed. For RC enthusiasts in the UK investing time and money in their models, bearing maintenance represents one of the highest-return maintenance tasks available, with noticeable performance improvements at minimal cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What RC models use the 5x11x4mm bearing size? — This bearing size is found on various Corally models and many other RC platforms. Common applications include main shaft bearings, outdrives, and other rotating components. Always consult your specific RC model's manual or parts diagrams to verify bearing sizes before ordering, as using incorrect bearing dimensions can cause poor fit and performance issues.
- What is ABEC 3 and why does it matter for my RC car? — ABEC (Annular Bearing Engineers' Committee) ratings specify manufacturing tolerances and precision levels. ABEC 3 is the standard for hobby-grade RC applications, balancing precision with affordability. ABEC 5 and ABEC 7 offer tighter tolerances for racing, but ABEC 3 provides excellent performance for most RC car UK drivers. For casual bashing and weekend driving, ABEC 3 is perfectly adequate and more cost-effective than premium grades.
- How often should I replace my RC bearings? — Bearing lifespan depends heavily on driving conditions, maintenance frequency, and application intensity. Frequent off-road or bashing use in wet conditions may require bearing service or replacement every 5-10 hours of driving time. Track racing might extend this to 15-20 hours. Regular maintenance—cleaning, rinsing with fresh water after wet driving, and regreasing—significantly extends bearing life. When you notice increased resistance, grinding sounds, or visible play in shafts, it's time to service or replace bearings.
- Can I use these bearings as a direct replacement in my RC model? — Yes, provided your model uses 5x11x4mm bearings. The Corally ABEC 3 specification is a standard size found across many manufacturers' RC vehicles. However, always verify the correct bearing size for your specific model before purchase. Installing incorrect bearing sizes can result in poor shaft support, misalignment of drivetrain components, and reduced performance or damage.
- Do these bearings require greasing or are they pre-lubricated? — Quality ball bearings typically come pre-lubricated with bearing grease suitable for general RC use. The rubber seals help retain this lubrication. Over time, bearing grease can dry out, especially with heavy use or exposure to heat. You can extend bearing life by occasionally adding small amounts of fresh bearing grease designed for RC applications. Never use thick automotive grease, which will slow bearings and generate excess heat.
- What makes chrome steel better than stainless steel for RC bearings? — Chrome steel offers superior hardness and rolling fatigue resistance compared to stainless steel, making it the industry standard for bearing races and balls in RC applications. The tradeoff is that chrome steel requires the rubber seals to prevent corrosion in wet conditions. For RC use, chrome steel with rubber seals is the optimal choice, combining durability with protection.
- Are these suitable for sealed or unsealed RC models? — These bearings feature rubber seals, making them suitable for both sealed and unsealed RC models. If your model typically runs sealed bearings, these will provide the same protection. If you're upgrading from unsealed to sealed bearings, verify that your model's bearing pockets have sufficient depth to accommodate the sealed design without binding.
