Technical Performance
The Team Associated B74 differential case is engineered as part of the comprehensive drivetrain system found in the RC10B74.1 Team Kit, one of the most advanced 1/10-scale 4WD off-road buggies available globally. The B74 platform features innovative differential technology, including the next-generation Octalock 2-Pad high-load, high-capacity centre slipper clutch with LCF pad material and keyed spur gear design with 8 locking tabs on the newer B74.1 variants. The differential system incorporates Team Associated's legacy of excellence, featuring 7075-T6 aluminium bulkheads with quick-change 0mm-3mm adjustable differential height capability, allowing racers to fine-tune ride height on high-grip carpet tracks whilst maintaining efficient driveshaft alignment. The advanced differential design allows interchangeable use of centre differential or slipper clutch configurations without requiring centre driveshaft changes, demonstrating the sophistication of the B74 architecture. The drivetrain system utilises 66mm CVA driveshafts and 16mm diameter differential outdrives with lightweight, durable design, paired with updated rear driveshaft assemblies that have been optimised for both carpet and dirt racing applications. The complete drivetrain package is supported by updated 7075-T6 aluminium arm mounts using precision inserts for fine-tuning a comprehensive range of anti-squat, kick-up, and toe adjustments, whilst the rear bulkheads feature revised geometry for improved crash durability. This differential case maintains the precise engineering standards required for the B74 platform's renowned handling characteristics and reliability in competitive off-road racing environments across the UK and internationally.
What's in the Box
- Team Associated B74 Differential Case (AS92135) — Front and rear application
What You Need to Complete
The AS92135 differential case is a spare component only. If you're rebuilding a complete differential assembly, you'll need to source the associated differential ring gear (such as the 40-tooth option, AS92140), differential gears, cross pins, bearings, shafts, and differential fluid suitable for your application. For the complete B74.1 or B74.1D buggy platform, you'll additionally need a 1:10-scale electric motor, electronic speed controller (ESC), 3.7V-7.4V LiPo or 6.0V LiFe battery pack (standard or low-profile case height), battery charger, 2-channel surface transmitter, 2-channel receiver, steering servo, 1:10-scale off-road wheels and tyres, spray paint for the polycarbonate body, and assembly tools. Helpful maintenance items include silicone shock fluid, silicone differential fluid (such as the 1,000,000 cSt option), thread-locking compound, and precision tools including hex/nut driver sets and body scissors.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this differential case compatible with all Team Associated B74 variants? — Yes, the AS92135 is designed to work with the RC10B74, RC10B74.1 (carpet racing version), and RC10B74.1D (dirt racing version), offering front and rear application compatibility across the entire B74 family of buggies.
- What is a differential case and why would I need a spare? — The differential case houses the differential gears and bearings that allow your buggy's wheels to rotate at different speeds during cornering. It's a wear item subject to impact damage during crashes and regular maintenance, making a spare essential for serious racers who need quick repairs to get back on track.
- Can I use this with a centre slipper clutch or centre differential setup? — The B74 platform's advanced design allows interchangeable use of centre differential or slipper clutch configurations without requiring changes to the centre driveshafts, so you can use this differential case in either setup by changing the internal components whilst keeping the case itself.
- Do I need to use genuine Team Associated spares? — Genuine Team Associated parts are manufactured to the precise tolerances required for the B74's renowned handling and durability. Using authentic components ensures your buggy maintains its factory specifications and racing performance characteristics that have made the B74 a competitive choice for UK racers.
- What differential fluid should I use? — Team Associated recommends silicone differential fluid; the B74.1D uses 200,000 cSt silicone fluid as standard. Thicker fluid (such as 1,000,000 cSt) can be used for adjusting differential behaviour and traction characteristics on different track surfaces.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a replacement spare component, so it's most useful for owners of an existing B74 buggy rather than beginners starting with RC for the first time. However, if you own a B74 and are learning maintenance skills, this is an excellent spare to have available.
- What is the difference between the B74.1 and B74.1D models? — The RC10B74.1 is optimised for high-grip carpet and turf track racing with next-generation Octalock 2-Pad slipper clutch technology, whilst the RC10B74.1D includes a centre differential with 200,000 cSt silicone fluid and optimised setup for dirt racing conditions. Both platforms share the same chassis configuration and parts compatibility, allowing tuning parts to be interchangeable between them.
