Overview
The Team Associated 13mm Front Shock Springs in orange are precision engineered replacement components designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand the best performance from their 1/10 scale RC buggies. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your setup for track conditions or a dedicated basher looking to optimise your suspension geometry, these front shock springs deliver the exact spring rate and specifications needed to transform your vehicle's handling characteristics. Team Associated is a globally recognised manufacturer of championship-winning RC cars, and these OEM shock springs are the genuine factory components that come on their most advanced buggy platforms.
Finding the right suspension setup is crucial for any RC car UK enthusiast, and shock spring selection is one of the most important tuning variables at your disposal. The orange colour designation on these springs immediately identifies their 4.3 lb/in spring rate, making it easy to keep track of your spares and understand exactly what rate is installed in your vehicle at any time. These are not generic aftermarket approximations – they are authentic Team Associated components manufactured to the exacting standards that have made the brand synonymous with RC racing excellence across Europe and beyond.
If you own a Team Associated RC10B series buggy or any of the compatible platforms listed in this product information, upgrading to genuine OEM shock springs is one of the smartest investments you can make. Whether you're dealing with worn springs from years of bashing, experimenting with different spring rates to dial in your suspension, or simply maintaining your RC car with the best available components, these 13mm front shock springs are an essential part of every serious RC enthusiast's spares collection.
Key Features
- 4.3 lb/in Spring Rate — This specific spring rate has been engineered by Team Associated to deliver the precise balance of compliance and support needed for front suspension on their competition buggies, ensuring your vehicle maintains consistent handling across various track surfaces and conditions without becoming too soft or too stiff.
- 13mm Diameter Shock Body Compatibility — These springs are manufactured to fit standard 13mm diameter shock bodies used throughout the Team Associated RC10B range, ensuring seamless installation and compatibility with your existing suspension hardware without requiring additional modifications or adapters.
- Orange Colour Designation — The distinctive orange colour is part of Team Associated's colour-coded spring system, allowing you to instantly identify the spring rate at a glance and keep your spares organised by rate, eliminating confusion during setup changes and tuning sessions.
- L44 Spring Length Specification — The L44 designation indicates the exact compressed and extended length of the spring, ensuring proper ride height and suspension geometry when installed, which is critical for maintaining the chassis angles and handling balance that your tuning setup relies upon.
- 6.0T Wire Gauge — The 6.0T wire thickness has been carefully calculated to deliver the specified spring rate whilst maintaining durability and longevity, ensuring these springs will handle thousands of kilometres of racing and recreational use without permanent deformation or failure.
- 1.2D Diameter Specification — This measurement defines the precise outer diameter of the spring coils, ensuring proper fit within your shock body and maintaining the exact spring characteristics that Team Associated engineered into your vehicle's suspension platform.
- Genuine OEM Components — These are factory Team Associated parts, not third-party reproductions or generic alternatives, meaning you're getting the exact same springs that came on new RC10B buggies and are used by factory racing teams worldwide.
- Essential Suspension Spares — Shock springs wear and lose their tension over time with constant use, making these replacement springs an essential spares item for any serious RC enthusiast who wants to maintain their vehicle's performance at peak levels.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated 13mm Front Shock Springs represent precision engineering at its finest, delivering consistent spring performance that is absolutely critical to suspension tuning. The 4.3 lb/in rate sits in the middle of the spring rate spectrum offered by Team Associated, making it suitable for general-purpose use across a variety of track conditions, from smooth carpeted indoor circuits to outdoor terrain with mixed grip levels. The L44 length specification works in conjunction with the 6.0T wire gauge and 1.2D coil diameter to deliver a spring that maintains its rate consistency throughout its range of motion, resisting the fade that can occur with lower-quality springs manufactured to less exacting tolerances. These springs have been extensively tested by Team Associated's engineering team and proven in competition environments where suspension performance directly impacts lap times and finishing positions. The orange colour identification system means you'll never accidentally mix spring rates, a critical concern when you're making precise tuning adjustments to optimise your vehicle's handling for specific conditions. Whether you're running these springs as part of a complete suspension rebuild, replacing worn components, or experimenting with spring rates to dial in your setup, genuine Team Associated springs ensure you're working with components that have been validated through thousands of hours of competitive RC racing. The engineering that goes into these seemingly simple components is remarkable – every aspect from the steel composition to the winding process to the stress relief treatment is controlled to deliver predictable, repeatable spring behaviour that lets you make confident suspension adjustments knowing exactly how your vehicle will respond.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 4.3 lb/in spring rate mean and how does it affect my RC buggy? — The 4.3 lb/in specification describes how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A lower spring rate (softer spring) provides more compliance and cushioning, whilst a higher rate (stiffer spring) delivers more support and reduced body roll. The 4.3 lb/in rate is Team Associated's mid-range specification, making it suitable for general track use and offering a good balance between comfort and control for both racing and recreational driving.
- Are these shock springs suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. If you own a Team Associated RC10B buggy and need to replace worn shock springs, these genuine OEM components are the correct choice regardless of your experience level. Shock springs are maintenance items that wear over time, and replacing them with factory originals ensures your vehicle performs as it was originally designed. Beginners benefit from using genuine OEM parts because they eliminate one variable when learning suspension tuning.
- What is the L44, 6.0T, 1.2D specification exactly? — These are Team Associated's precise measurements that define the spring's physical dimensions and characteristics. L44 indicates the spring length, 6.0T specifies the wire gauge thickness (which directly affects the spring rate), and 1.2D describes the outer diameter of the spring coils. Together, these specifications ensure that when you buy a replacement spring, you're getting the exact same component that came on your vehicle originally.
- How do I know if my shock springs need replacement? — Shock springs gradually lose their tension over time with use. Signs that replacement is needed include: the vehicle sitting lower than it should (reduced ride height), inconsistent handling or the suspension feeling mushy, or visible damage to the springs such as cracks, rust, or permanent bending. If you've been using your RC buggy regularly for several seasons, replacing the springs is simply good maintenance.
- Can I use different spring rates to tune my vehicle? — Yes, that's one of the great things about RC buggy suspension tuning. Team Associated manufactures shock springs in multiple rates, and experimenting with different rates is a legitimate tuning method used by competitive racers to optimise handling for specific track conditions. However, always use genuine Team Associated springs to ensure consistency and predictable performance.
- Will these springs fit other brands of RC buggies? — No, these springs are designed specifically for 13mm shock bodies used in Team Associated vehicles. Whilst the basic diameter is standard across many 1/10 RC buggies, the length, rate, and coil specifications are unique to Team Associated, and using mismatched components can result in poor handling or damage to your suspension.
- What is the difference between orange and other colour shock springs? — Team Associated uses colour coding to identify different spring rates. The orange colour on these springs specifically identifies the 4.3 lb/in rate. Other colours represent softer (lighter) or stiffer (heavier) rates. This colour-coding system makes it easy to visually identify your spring rate at a glance and stay organised when maintaining multiple vehicles or sets of spares.
