Overview

The Team Associated 13mm Front Shock Springs in yellow deliver a precisely engineered 3.8 lb/in spring rate, designed specifically for front shock applications on Team Associated RC buggies and off-road racing vehicles. These replacement shock springs are essential components for any RC car enthusiast in the UK who demands consistent handling and reliable performance on the track or off-road terrain. Whether you're competing in organised RC racing events or enjoying casual weekend bashing with your RC buggy, having the correct spring rate matched to your setup is crucial for achieving optimal suspension geometry and predictable handling characteristics.

Supplied under part number AS91943, these genuine Team Associated shock springs are manufactured to the exacting standards you'd expect from one of the most respected names in competitive RC racing. The yellow colour coding provides instant visual identification, making it easy to match pairs and ensure your front suspension is symmetrical and balanced. These springs are particularly suited for drivers who run Team Associated RC10 series vehicles, including the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B7, and RC10B7D models, ensuring perfect compatibility with your existing chassis.

For RC hobbyists in the UK seeking genuine OEM replacement parts that maintain the factory specifications of their Team Associated vehicles, these 13mm front shock springs represent the definitive choice. They offer a straightforward, reliable option when you need springs with the stated rate and specifications to keep your RC car performing at its peak.

Key Features

  • Precise 3.8 lb/in Spring Rate — The specific spring rate is critical for suspension tuning, affecting how your RC vehicle's front end responds to bumps, jumps and cornering forces, directly influencing grip, stability and handling feel during high-speed driving or racing.
  • Yellow Colour Code Identification — The bright yellow colour provides instant visual recognition, making it simple to identify the spring rate at a glance and ensuring you always install matching pairs on both sides of your front suspension for balanced setup.
  • 13mm Shock Diameter Compatibility — Engineered specifically for 13mm front shock applications, these springs fit perfectly within the shock body without interference, maintaining the original geometry and ride height of your Team Associated buggy.
  • Specifications: L44, 6.5T, 1.2D — These designations refer to the spring length, number of turns in the coil, and wire diameter respectively, providing precise technical parameters for compatibility verification and ensuring you purchase the exact springs your vehicle requires.
  • Genuine Team Associated OEM Component — As an original Team Associated part, these springs meet the manufacturer's quality standards and are designed to work perfectly with the suspension geometry of compatible RC10 series vehicles.
  • Replacement Part Option — Whether your springs have lost their tension over time, broken from impact, or you're simply looking to experiment with alternative spring rates for different track conditions, having spare genuine springs on hand is essential for any serious RC enthusiast.

Technical Performance

These Team Associated 13mm front shock springs exemplify precision engineering applied to RC suspension tuning. With a spring rate of 3.8 lb/in, these springs provide a moderate stiffness that balances compliance over rough terrain with responsiveness in cornering and during acceleration. The L44 length specification ensures proper shock compression and extension range, whilst the 6.5 turns of the coil provide consistent force distribution throughout the spring's travel. The 1.2mm wire diameter has been carefully selected to provide the correct stiffness-to-weight ratio, contributing to overall vehicle performance without adding unnecessary mass to the front end. In RC racing and off-road applications, shock spring selection is one of the most fundamental tuning variables available to drivers. The correct spring rate maintains proper ride height, prevents bottoming out during aggressive driving, and keeps the suspension compliant enough to maintain tyre contact with the track surface. These genuine Team Associated springs are manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring consistency between matched pairs and reliability through countless hours of use on various UK racing circuits and terrain types. The yellow colour coding system used by Team Associated allows drivers to quickly reference their spring rates and maintain detailed setup notes for different track conditions, a practice common among competitive RC racers throughout the United Kingdom.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What vehicles are these Team Associated shock springs compatible with? — These 13mm front shock springs are designed for use with the Team Associated RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10B7, and RC10B7D models. Always verify your specific vehicle model before purchasing to ensure compatibility.
  • What does the 3.8 lb/in spring rate mean? — The spring rate, measured in pounds per inch, indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A 3.8 lb/in rate is considered a moderately soft spring suitable for maintaining tyre contact on varied terrain whilst still providing adequate support. Lower rates are softer and better for compliance on rough ground; higher rates are stiffer for more responsive handling on smooth tracks.
  • How do I know if I need to replace my shock springs? — Springs may need replacement if your vehicle bottoms out excessively, sits lower than expected at rest, loses responsiveness over bumps, or if the springs have visible cracks or deformation. Having spare springs in your pit kit ensures you can quickly adjust your setup or replace damaged components during racing events.
  • What is the significance of the L44, 6.5T, 1.2D specifications? — These parameters specify the exact dimensions and construction of the spring: L44 refers to the spring length in millimetres, 6.5T indicates the number of turns in the coil, and 1.2D specifies the wire diameter in millimetres. These specifications ensure perfect compatibility with your shock absorber and maintain the intended suspension geometry of your RC vehicle.
  • How should I store shock springs? — Keep shock springs in a cool, dry environment away from extreme temperatures which could affect their temper and spring characteristics. Store them loose or in a spring-specific container rather than compressed for extended periods, as this helps maintain their original tension.
  • Can I mix spring rates on my vehicle? — Whilst it's technically possible to run different spring rates front and rear, or left and right, this is not recommended unless you're specifically tuning for particular track conditions. Mismatched springs will create asymmetrical handling and unpredictable behaviour. Always use matching pairs for each axle position.
