Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Team Associated vehicles are these shock pistons compatible with? — The FT 13mm Shock Pistons are designed for use with Team Associated vehicles equipped with 13mm shock platforms that accept Factory Team pistons. Compatible vehicles include the RC10B6.4, RC10B6.4D, RC10B74.2, RC10B74.2D, RC10T6.4, RC10SC6.4, RC10B7, and RC10B7D. Always verify compatibility against your vehicle manual before purchase to ensure correct fitment.
- What does the 2.0mm, 2 x 1.8 specification mean? — The 2.0mm refers to the bore diameter of the shock piston, whilst the 2 x 1.8 specification indicates the dual-hole design with two ports of 1.8mm diameter. This configuration allows for precise damping control through the shock fluid flow, enabling builders to fine-tune suspension response for different driving conditions and vehicle setups.
- When should I replace my shock pistons? — Shock pistons should be inspected regularly for wear, particularly if you notice inconsistent suspension performance or if your shocks have been in use for extended periods. Replacement becomes necessary when pistons show visible damage, wear through sealing surfaces, or if your suspension performance has degraded over time. Regular maintenance ensures optimal damping characteristics.
- Are these genuine Team Associated Factory Team parts? — Yes, these are genuine Factory Team components manufactured by Team Associated. They carry the official AS91938 model number and feature the exact 2.0mm, 2 x 1.8 specification as designed by Team Associated's Factory Team engineering division, ensuring authentic quality and performance.
- Do I need any special tools to install these shock pistons? — Installation requires basic RC tools including a shock disassembly tool or hex key set, depending on your specific shock design. You may also need shock fluid for assembly. Consult your vehicle manual for detailed installation instructions specific to your shock type.
- How do shock piston specifications affect my RC car's handling? — Shock pistons directly influence how quickly shock fluid flows through the piston, determining damping response. The 2.0mm bore and 2 x 1.8 specification of these pistons provides specific damping characteristics that affect how quickly your suspension compresses and extends. Different specifications suit different track conditions, driving styles, and vehicle setups, which is why having the correct specification is crucial for competitive RC racing.
