Overview

The Team Associated Rear Shock Springs Blue 2.20 lb/in L61mm (AS91840) are precision-engineered suspension components designed for serious RC car enthusiasts and competitors who demand exact tuning control over their vehicle's handling characteristics. These professionally-developed rear shock springs are manufactured by Team Associated, one of the world's most respected names in RC racing technology, and represent the gold standard for suspension tuning across a wide range of competitive RC vehicles. Whether you're competing in UK RC championships, practising at your local track, or fine-tuning your setup for weekend racing, these springs provide the precise spring rate you need to dial in your RC car's suspension for optimal performance.

The 2.20 lb/in spring rate offers a defined and measurable response to suspension adjustments, making these springs ideal for drivers who understand how spring rates affect chassis behaviour, weight transfer, and overall grip. The colour-coded blue finish isn't just for aesthetics — it's a practical pit box identification system that helps you instantly recognise which spring rate you're working with when you have multiple spring options available. For RC enthusiasts across the UK looking to upgrade their suspension components or maintain their competition-ready vehicles, these Team Associated springs deliver the reliability and precision that serious RC car UK hobbyists expect.

These rear shock springs are specifically engineered to fit 61mm shock absorbers and are compatible with numerous Team Associated platforms, making them an essential upgrade or replacement part for your RC car suspension setup. The engineering excellence that Team Associated brings to every component ensures consistent performance and durability through countless hours of racing and bashing.

Key Features

  • Precise 2.20 lb/in Spring Rate — The specific spring rate provides a defined response to setup changes, allowing experienced RC car UK drivers to make measured adjustments to their suspension tuning and achieve predictable handling characteristics that directly translate to better lap times and improved cornering performance.
  • 61mm Length (L61mm) Design — These springs are precisely manufactured to fit 61mm shock absorber bodies, ensuring proper suspension geometry and consistent damping characteristics when paired with compatible shocks on your RC vehicle.
  • Blue Colour-Coded Identification — The bright blue finish serves as an instant visual identification system in your pit box, helping you quickly distinguish this 2.20 lb/in spring rate from other spring rates you may have available, reducing setup mistakes during practice sessions and competitions.
  • Team Associated Engineering — Manufactured by Team Associated, a brand with decades of experience in top-level RC racing, these springs deliver the quality, consistency and performance that competitive drivers depend on for reliable suspension performance.
  • Rear Position Application — Specifically designed for rear shock mounting, these springs complement front springs to create a balanced suspension setup that affects your RC car's weight distribution, traction, and overall handling balance.
  • Compatible with Multiple Platforms — These springs fit a comprehensive range of Team Associated RC vehicles including the RC10 series buggies, trucks and short course vehicles, making them a versatile upgrade for various RC car platforms across the UK RC community.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Rear Shock Springs are manufactured to exacting standards using high-quality spring steel, engineered to maintain consistent spring rate characteristics through thousands of compression and extension cycles. The 2.20 lb/in rate positions these springs in the medium-soft range for rear suspension applications, making them suitable for tracks with moderate grip levels and setups requiring balanced suspension compliance. The 61mm length ensures proper suspension architecture and geometry, maintaining correct anti-squat and weight transfer characteristics essential for predictable handling. Spring rate consistency is critical in RC racing — these Team Associated springs deliver reliable, repeatable performance that won't vary as ambient temperature changes or the suspension cycles through its full range of motion. The colour-coded identification system reflects Team Associated's attention to practical pit box organisation, ensuring drivers can quickly verify they're running the correct spring rate for their current setup. For RC car UK enthusiasts building or maintaining competition vehicles, these springs represent the engineering quality you expect from a manufacturer with Team Associated's racing heritage and technical expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which RC cars are compatible with these Team Associated rear shock springs? — These 61mm springs fit numerous Team Associated platforms including the RC10B64D, RC10B64, RC10B64 Club Racer, RC10B6.1, RC10B6.1D, RC10T6.1, RC10SC6.1, RC10B74, RC10B6.1DL, RC10B6.2, RC10B6.2D, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.3D, and RB10 including the RB10 Retro model. You should refer to your specific model's manual or setup guide to confirm that your vehicle accepts 61mm rear springs and verify that the 2.20 lb/in spring rate suits your current setup and driving conditions.
  • What does the 2.20 lb/in spring rate mean and how soft or stiff are these springs? — The 2.20 lb/in rating indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. This rate is considered medium-soft for rear shock springs, making these springs suitable for tracks with moderate grip levels. Softer springs (lower numbers) provide more suspension compliance and better traction on bumpy tracks, while stiffer springs (higher numbers) offer more support and are better for high-grip surfaces. These springs represent a balanced option that works well for general racing and tuning.
  • Why is the blue colour coding important? — The blue finish is part of Team Associated's colour-coded spring identification system, allowing you to instantly identify the 2.20 lb/in spring rate when you have multiple spring options available in your pit box. This practical feature prevents setup mistakes during practice sessions or races, where quickly verifying spring rates is essential for consistent performance and accurate setup changes.
  • How do I choose the correct spring rate for my RC car? — Spring rate selection depends on several factors including track surface grip level, your driving style, vehicle weight distribution, and current setup. Lower spring rates (softer) are better for low-grip or bumpy surfaces as they allow more suspension travel and traction, while higher spring rates (stiffer) work better on high-grip surfaces. The 2.20 lb/in rate is a popular mid-range option suitable for most general racing conditions. Consult your vehicle's setup guide for spring rate recommendations specific to your model and intended use.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners? — These springs are ideal for RC enthusiasts with intermediate to advanced experience who understand suspension tuning concepts and want to make precise adjustments to their vehicle's handling. Beginners should start with stock springs that came with their vehicle and progress to spring rate changes as they develop understanding of how suspension affects handling. Once you understand spring rate effects, these Team Associated springs are excellent for dialling in your perfect setup.
  • What is the difference between front and rear shock springs? — Front and rear springs often have different spring rates because they control different aspects of vehicle handling. Rear springs affect rear-end grip, weight transfer during acceleration, and overall rear suspension compliance. Spring rates are typically matched as a set to create balanced handling characteristics. These springs are specifically designed for rear shock applications and should not be substituted for front springs without careful consideration of your complete suspension setup.
  • How often should I replace these shock springs? — Quality springs like these Team Associated units maintain consistent spring rate characteristics through years of use. Replace springs if they become visibly damaged, bent, or if you suspect the spring rate has changed. Regular inspection during pit setup ensures your springs remain in optimal condition for reliable performance.
