Overview
The Team Associated AS91836 Front Shock Springs are precision-engineered suspension components designed for RC enthusiasts and competitors who demand reliable, consistent performance from their RC cars. These orange-coded front shock springs, rated at 5.10 lb/in with an L44mm specification, represent genuine Team Associated quality and are built to help you fine-tune your RC vehicle's suspension geometry for optimal handling characteristics. Whether you're running an RC10 series buggy, short course truck, or dirt oval racer, these springs deliver the predictable support needed to balance steering response and front-end grip in a variety of track conditions across the UK.
If you're serious about dialling in your RC car's suspension setup, upgrading or replacing worn shock springs is one of the most effective ways to improve performance without breaking the bank. The colour-coded orange designation makes it easy to identify this specific spring rate within the Team Associated range, whilst the genuine part number AS91836 ensures compatibility with your vehicle. These springs are ideal for racers and bashers alike who want to achieve precise turn-in characteristics, better bump absorption, and improved on-power stability during high-speed runs.
RC car suspension tuning is a fundamental skill for anyone serious about RC hobby progression, and having a selection of different spring rates in your spares kit is essential. The 5.10 lb/in rating of these front shocks makes them suitable for a wide range of driving styles and track surfaces, whether you're competing in organised RC racing events or enjoying casual weekend bashing with friends.

Buying genuine parts ensures reliable fitment and performance.
- 5.10 lb/in Spring Rate — The spring rate of 5.10 lb/in provides a specific level of stiffness that balances compliance and responsiveness, making these springs suitable for tuning turn-in response and front-end grip across various track conditions and driving techniques commonly encountered in UK RC racing.
- L44mm Length Specification — The L44M designation identifies the precise length of these shock springs, ensuring they fit correctly within your vehicle's suspension geometry and maintain the correct ride height and suspension travel characteristics essential for predictable handling.
- Orange Colour Coding — Team Associated uses a standardised colour coding system for shock springs, with orange denoting this specific 5.10 lb/in rate, making it simple to identify and swap springs when adjusting your suspension setup or replacing worn components.
- Front Shock Application — Specifically designed for front shock absorption, these springs work in conjunction with your shock bodies and dampers to control vertical chassis movement, absorb track bumps, and maintain consistent weight distribution during acceleration, braking and cornering.
- Suspension Tuning Essential — These springs are an absolute must-have spare part for anyone serious about RC car performance tuning, allowing you to adjust your vehicle's handling characteristics by swapping different spring rates to suit track conditions, weather, and driving style without purchasing an entirely new shock unit.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated AS91836 front shock springs represent the pinnacle of suspension component engineering for competitive and recreational RC vehicles. Manufactured to precise tolerances using premium materials, these springs deliver consistent spring rates throughout their operational range, ensuring predictable and repeatable handling characteristics across multiple driving sessions. The 5.10 lb/in spring rate sits in the medium range of Team Associated's suspension offerings, making it versatile enough for both on-road track racing and off-road bashing applications. The L44mm length has been specifically engineered to work with Team Associated's shock body designs, maintaining proper suspension geometry and allowing full suspension travel without binding or bottoming out. The orange colour coding is part of Team Associated's recognised international standard for shock spring identification, removing any guesswork when selecting components for your setup. These springs are compatible with a comprehensive range of Team Associated vehicles including the RC10B64D, RC10B64, RC10B64 Club Racer, RC10B6.1, RC10B6.1D, RC10T6.1, RC10SC6.1, RC10B74, RC10B6.1DL, RC10B6.2, RC10B6.2D, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, SR10, RC10B6.3, RC10B6.3D, RB10, DR10M, SR10M Dirt Oval, and RB10 Retro models. The engineering excellence of Team Associated ensures that these springs maintain their rated stiffness over thousands of compression cycles, providing reliable performance season after season when properly maintained.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a spring rate and why does it matter for my RC car? — The spring rate (measured in lb/in) indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one inch. A 5.10 lb/in spring is relatively soft, meaning it compresses more easily than stiffer springs. This makes it ideal for improving grip and bump absorption on rough tracks, whilst stiffer springs are better for high-speed stability on smooth surfaces. Understanding spring rates is fundamental to RC suspension tuning and allows you to dial in the perfect balance between grip and stability for your driving style and track conditions.
- Are these springs compatible with my RC car? — These Team Associated AS91836 springs are specifically designed for use on multiple Team Associated RC vehicle models including the RC10B6.3, RC10B6.3D, SR10, RB10, DR10M, and SR10M Dirt Oval. If you own one of these vehicles, these springs will fit directly into your existing front shock bodies. Consult your vehicle's manual or the Team Associated spring colour codes documentation to confirm compatibility if you own a different model.
- How do I know which spring rate I need? — The correct spring rate depends on your track surface, driving style, and current handling characteristics. If your RC car feels loose or tends to lean excessively in corners, you may need stiffer (higher lb/in) springs. If it feels too stiff or bouncy, softer springs may help. The 5.10 lb/in rate represented by these orange springs is a popular mid-range option suitable for most drivers and conditions. Many experienced RC racers keep multiple spring rates in their spares kit to allow quick adjustments between practice runs and races.
- Do I need to replace both front and rear springs together? — Whilst front and rear springs can have different rates, it's generally recommended to change them together to maintain balanced suspension geometry. However, many experienced racers adjust front and rear springs independently to fine-tune handling characteristics. Your RC car's manual will provide guidance on spring selection for your specific model.
- How often should I replace shock springs? — Shock springs should be inspected regularly for signs of fatigue, corrosion, or deformation. With normal use, quality springs like these from Team Associated can last for several seasons. However, springs can lose their rated stiffness over time due to repeated compression cycles, so if your car's handling feels different or you notice uneven suspension behaviour, it may be time to replace them.
- Are these suitable for beginners? — Shock springs are replacement spare parts rather than complete products, so they're best suited for users who already have an RC vehicle and understand basic suspension concepts. However, beginners who are learning about RC suspension tuning will find these springs invaluable for experimenting with different setups and understanding how suspension geometry affects handling performance.
- What is the L44M designation? — The L44M specification indicates the precise length of the spring measured in millimetres (44mm in this case). This length designation is critical because shock springs must match the design specifications of your shock body to maintain proper suspension geometry and ensure correct ride height and suspension travel limits.
