Overview
The Associated HD TiN Ballstuds 8mm (AS91752) are genuine Team Associated hardware components designed for RC enthusiasts who demand quality and reliability in their RC car builds. Whether you're maintaining your existing RC model or refreshing worn linkage points, these ballstuds represent the factory-correct solution from one of the most trusted names in RC racing. Team Associated has been manufacturing precision RC components for decades, and these ballstuds embody that engineering excellence and attention to detail that serious RC car UK hobbyists have come to expect.
These 8mm ballstuds are essential components in any RC car's suspension and steering systems, serving as critical connection points where suspension arms, tie rods, and linkages articulate. The HD and TiN designations indicate high-durability construction with titanium nitride coating, which provides superior wear resistance and longevity compared to standard ballstuds. This coating not only extends the life of the component but also reduces friction, resulting in smoother steering response and more consistent suspension geometry during high-performance driving. For RC enthusiasts building or maintaining competition-grade vehicles, track-day bashers, or anyone who wants to ensure their RC model performs at its absolute best, these ballstuds are an investment in reliability and performance.
Compatibility is broad across the Team Associated range, with these ballstuds suitable for numerous models including the B6, B6D, B6.1, B6.1D, B6.1DL, B6.2, B6.2D, B6.3, B6.4, B6.4D, B6.7, B6.7D, B74, B74.1, B74.2, B74.2D, T6.1, T6.2, T6.4, RC10SC6.1, RC10SC6.2, SC6.4, RC10DR, RC10 4WD, SC10SW, DR10, DR10M, RB10, RB10 Retro, SR10, Reflex 14B, Pro2 LT10SW, and Pro2 DK10SW Dakar models. Whether you're running a 2WD buggy, 4WD touring car, or short course truck, having genuine factory parts on hand ensures you're always ready for the next race or session.
Key Features
- HD and TiN Designation — The HD (High-Durability) and TiN (Titanium Nitride) coating provides exceptional wear resistance and longevity, ensuring these ballstuds maintain their shape and fit even under the extreme stresses of competitive RC racing or aggressive bashing, which means fewer replacements and better value over time.
- Genuine Team Associated Component — As official Team Associated parts, these ballstuds are manufactured to the exact specifications used in factory-built RC cars and racing machines, guaranteeing perfect fit and function within your model.
- 8mm Ballstud Specification — The 8mm size is a standard ballstud diameter used across numerous RC car linkage systems, making these a versatile spares option for maintaining or upgrading your RC collection.
- Factory-Correct Solution — Maintain your RC model to factory specifications by replacing worn or damaged ballstuds with the exact same components used during original manufacturing, ensuring your vehicle's handling characteristics remain true to design.
- Wide Model Compatibility — Compatible with an extensive range of Team Associated RC cars including touring cars, buggies, short course trucks, and off-road racing machines, making these a smart addition to any Associated owner's spares box.
- Crucial Linkage Component — Ballstuds are the connection points for steering and suspension linkages where articulation occurs, making them vital to your RC car's steering response, suspension compliance, and overall handling performance.
Technical Performance
The Associated HD TiN Ballstuds 8mm represent precision engineering in miniature form. Ballstuds are fundamental to RC car suspension and steering geometry, serving as the articulation points where suspension arms connect to chassis mounts and steering components connect to servo linkages. The titanium nitride coating applied to these components is significantly harder than uncoated steel, reducing friction between the ballstud and the socket it occupies. This friction reduction translates to smoother steering inputs, more responsive handling, and less binding during suspension articulation. The 8mm diameter specification ensures compatibility with the factory-designed sockets and mounting points on your Team Associated RC model, maintaining proper tolerances and fit. When ballstuds become worn through regular use, they develop play in their sockets, which compromises steering precision and can create unpredictable handling characteristics. By replacing worn ballstuds with genuine factory components, you restore your RC car's suspension geometry to factory specifications, ensuring consistent performance whether you're competing at club level or pushing hard on the local track. These components are particularly important for serious RC car UK racers who demand precision and repeatability in their machines, as suspension geometry is critical to lap-time consistency and race results.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What are ballstuds and why do I need them for my RC car? — Ballstuds are spherical fasteners that serve as articulation points in your RC car's suspension and steering systems. They connect suspension arms, tie rods, and linkages to the chassis and servo, allowing these components to move freely while maintaining a fixed connection point. Over time, ballstuds wear and develop play in their sockets, which causes loose handling and reduces steering precision. Replacing worn ballstuds with new ones maintains your RC car's performance and geometry.
- How often should I replace my ballstuds? — The replacement interval depends on how frequently and intensively you use your RC car. Regular track racers might replace ballstuds every few months, whilst casual bashers may only need replacements once or twice per year. You'll know it's time to replace them when you notice play in your steering linkages or when your RC car's handling feels vague or unresponsive. Checking ballstuds during routine maintenance is good practice.
- Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, the Associated HD TiN Ballstuds 8mm (AS91752) are official Team Associated components manufactured to factory specifications. They carry the full Team Associated part number and barcode, ensuring authenticity and perfect compatibility with your Associated RC model.
- What does the TiN coating do? — TiN stands for Titanium Nitride, a hard ceramic coating applied to the ballstud surface. This coating is significantly harder than bare steel, reducing friction and wear when the ballstud articulates in its socket. The result is smoother steering response, longer component lifespan, and more consistent handling characteristics. This is why TiN-coated ballstuds are preferred for competition use and high-performance applications.
- Will these ballstuds fit my Associated RC car? — The 8mm ballstud size is standard across numerous Team Associated models, including B6, B6.1, B6.2, B6.3, B6.4, B6.7, B74, B74.1, B74.2, T6.1, T6.2, T6.4, and the RC10 series among many others. However, we always recommend checking your specific model's manual or parts list to confirm that 8mm ballstuds are the correct specification for your vehicle before ordering.
- Can I use these ballstuds on other RC car brands? — Whilst these are specifically manufactured for Team Associated vehicles, if another RC car brand uses standard 8mm ballstuds, they may be compatible. However, we recommend only using ballstuds specified for your particular RC car model to ensure proper fit and function. Check your vehicle's manual for the correct ballstud specification.
- What is the difference between HD TiN ballstuds and standard ballstuds? — The HD (High-Durability) designation indicates reinforced construction, whilst the TiN coating provides a harder, more wear-resistant surface compared to uncoated ballstuds. This combination delivers superior longevity, reduced friction, smoother articulation, and better overall performance, making them the ideal choice for competitive racing or intensive use.
- Are these suitable for beginners? — Yes, if you own a Team Associated RC car and need to maintain it, these ballstuds are perfect for spares. However, replacement requires basic RC maintenance skills such as removing linkages and installing new ballstuds. If you're not comfortable with this, our team at RC Model Shop would be happy to help or perform the installation for you.
