Overview

The Associated 3x27.5 Shock Shaft V2 TiN (AS91619) is a precision replacement shock shaft designed for RC enthusiasts who demand the highest quality performance upgrades for their Associated RC cars. This screw-mounted shaft represents a significant advancement in shock assembly technology, engineered to work seamlessly with shock bodies #91577 and #91578 across a range of competitive RC vehicles. Whether you're running a B44.3, RC10B5, RC10B5M, or RC10T5M, this shaft delivers the consistent damping control that separates amateur setups from championship-winning machines. For serious RC car UK hobbyists looking to optimise their suspension performance, this is an essential upgrade that will transform how your vehicle handles on track.

The V2 designation indicates this is the latest generation of this component, incorporating years of field-tested engineering refinement from Team Associated. The shock shaft is the critical link between your piston and the shock body, directly influencing how your suspension responds to bumps, kerbs and track imperfections. A quality shaft like this AS91619 ensures precise, repeatable damping characteristics that allow you to fine-tune your vehicle's handling with confidence. This is a crucial spare part for any serious RC buggy racer in the UK who wants to maintain peak performance or rebuild a damaged shock assembly.

Available in a hard Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating specifically chosen for maximum durability and long service life, this shaft represents genuine Team Associated manufacturing quality. The TiN surface treatment provides superior wear resistance compared to standard coatings, meaning your shock assembly will maintain consistent performance through extended racing seasons. This is the kind of precision engineering detail that serious RC enthusiasts and competitors rely on to stay competitive on UK racing circuits.

Key Features

  • Titanium Nitride (TiN) Coating — The hard TiN surface treatment provides exceptional durability and wear resistance, ensuring your shock shafts maintain consistent performance through countless hours of aggressive racing and regular use without degradation.
  • Screw-Mounted Piston Design — This V2 generation uses a screw to securely fasten the piston to the shaft, delivering precise and consistent damping characteristics that allow you to dial in exact suspension tuning without movement or slippage during aggressive manoeuvres.
  • 3x27.5mm Dimensions — The specific 3x27.5 size is engineered to pair perfectly with shock bodies #91577 and #91578, ensuring flawless fitment and optimal performance without modification or modification risk.
  • Factory Team Quality — This is genuine Team Associated manufacturing, the same quality used in factory racing programmes, giving you access to competition-grade components for your own RC car UK setup.
  • Optimised for V2 Shock Bodies — Designed specifically for the latest generation #91577 and #91578 shock bodies, this shaft takes full advantage of V2 engineering improvements for superior shock response.
  • Not Compatible with E-Clip Shafts — Important to note that these screw-mounted shafts are distinct from E-clip style shafts, so ensure you have the correct shock body type before purchasing to avoid compatibility issues.
  • Choice of Coatings Available — Whilst the TiN version you're looking at provides maximum longevity for extended service life, Factory Team Chrome versions are also available separately if you prefer the smoothest possible action and lowest friction characteristics.

Technical Performance

The AS91619 shock shaft represents precision engineering at its finest, incorporating multiple performance-enhancing design elements that serious RC racers depend on. The 3x27.5mm diameter and length have been precisely calculated to deliver optimal piston stroke and damping control within shock bodies #91577 and #91578. The Titanium Nitride coating creates a hardened surface that resists wear far better than standard chrome or painted finishes, maintaining consistent shaft diameter and finish even after extensive use. This is particularly important because any degradation in shaft surface smoothness directly translates to inconsistent damping behaviour, which undermines your suspension tuning efforts. The screw-mounted piston design employed in this V2 generation locks the piston securely to the shaft, eliminating any micro-movement that could introduce unpredictable damping variations during cornering, braking or acceleration. For competitive RC buggy racing and high-performance driving on UK circuits, this level of precision control is absolutely essential. The engineering allows you to confidently adjust damping rates through piston selection and fluid viscosity, knowing that the mechanical connection between shaft and piston remains rock-solid throughout your racing session. Whether you're pushing hard on a clay track, concrete circuit, or tarmac surface, the AS91619 provides the repeatability and consistency that separates victory from disappointment in competitive RC racing environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will this shock shaft work with my Associated RC car UK setup? — This AS91619 shaft is compatible with shock bodies #91577 and #91578 specifically, which are fitted to the B44.3, RC10B5, RC10B5M and RC10T5M platforms. If your Associated car uses one of these chassis and the corresponding shock bodies, you're good to go. If you're unsure which shock bodies your car uses, measure them or consult your vehicle's manual before ordering.
  • What is the difference between TiN and Factory Team Chrome shafts? — The TiN (Titanium Nitride) version you're looking at is engineered for maximum durability and longest service life, making it ideal for regular training and heavy use. The Factory Team Chrome option provides the smoothest possible action with lowest friction characteristics, preferred by some racers for ultimate performance in competition. For most UK users, the TiN version offers better value through extended service intervals.
  • How often should I replace my shock shaft? — With proper maintenance and care, the TiN coating on this AS91619 will maintain consistent performance for extended periods. Replace the shaft if you notice pitting on the surface, scoring marks, or if damping becomes inconsistent despite adjusting piston sizes and fluid viscosity. Regular cleaning and storage in a dry environment will maximise shaft life.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Shock shafts are intermediate to advanced level maintenance items. If you're new to RC car maintenance, you may want to have an experienced RC enthusiast help you with shock assembly. However, the actual installation is straightforward once you understand your shock design. RC Model Shop staff are happy to provide guidance if you call or visit.
  • Can I use this with my E-clip equipped shocks? — No, these screw-mounted shafts are specifically incompatible with E-clip style shafts. Make certain your shock bodies are the screw-mount type #91577 or #91578 before purchasing, as using the wrong type of shaft with an incompatible shock body will result in non-functional suspension and potential damage.
  • What makes Associated shock shafts better than aftermarket alternatives? — Associated shafts are manufactured to factory racing specifications with precision tolerances that ensure perfect fitment and consistent performance. The TiN coating treatment is a professional-grade surface hardening process that provides superior durability. These are the same components used in Team Associated factory racing programmes across the world.
