Overview

The Associated CVA Rebuild Kit AS91438 is an essential maintenance component for Team Associated RC buggy enthusiasts across the UK. This genuine OEM rebuild kit provides the core replacement parts needed to restore worn CVA (Constant Velocity Axle) components on your RC car, helping you maintain smooth driveline performance and extend the life of your machine. Whether you're a weekend basher, a competitive racer, or someone who simply wants to keep their RC buggy in peak condition, this straightforward rebuild kit from Associated is designed to help you refresh critical drivetrain components with factory-matched parts.

CVA couplers and pins are among the most frequently replaced wear items on RC buggies, especially if you regularly bash, race, or perform aggressive manoeuvres. The constant stress placed on the drive system during acceleration, cornering, and impacts means these components gradually wear down over time. By using the Associated CVA Rebuild Kit, you're choosing genuine replacement parts that have been engineered and tested by the manufacturer specifically for your buggy model, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance every time you take your RC car to the track, field, or skate park.

This is an ideal solution for routine maintenance or emergency pit repairs at the track. Rather than replacing your entire driveline, this targeted rebuild kit allows you to quickly replace only the worn CVA components, saving you money whilst keeping your RC buggy in service. It's the kind of spare part every serious Associated RC buggy owner should have in their toolbox, ready to deploy whenever needed.

Key Features

  • Genuine OEM Parts — These are authentic Team Associated replacement components engineered specifically for your buggy, ensuring perfect compatibility and reliable performance that matches the original factory specification.
  • CVA Coupler Components — The rebuild kit includes two CVA couplers, which are critical joints in your driveline that transmit power from the motor to the wheels whilst allowing for suspension movement and articulation.
  • CVA Pin Replacements — Two CVA pins are included to complete the rebuild, these pins secure the couplers in place and are essential for maintaining driveline integrity under racing and bashing conditions.
  • Quick Pit Repair Solution — Designed for fast rebuilds at the track or field, this kit allows you to replace worn CVA components without major disassembly, getting you back to racing quickly.
  • Factory-Matched Engineering — All parts are manufactured to Associated's exacting standards, ensuring they work seamlessly with your buggy's existing driveline components.
  • Routine Maintenance Essential — This is a fundamental spare part for anyone who wants to keep their Associated RC buggy performing at its best through regular preventative maintenance.
  • Cost-Effective Repair — Rather than replacing entire driveline assemblies, this targeted rebuild kit lets you replace only the worn components, reducing repair costs significantly.

Technical Performance

The CVA (Constant Velocity Axle) system is a sophisticated driveline component found on modern Team Associated RC buggies, designed to transmit power smoothly to the wheels whilst accommodating suspension movement and extreme angles. The couplers and pins included in this rebuild kit are precision-engineered from durable materials chosen to withstand the extreme stresses of competitive racing and high-impact bashing. These components experience constant rotation and angular stress, particularly during aggressive acceleration, hard cornering, and suspension articulation, which is why they gradually wear over time. By replacing them with genuine Associated parts, you're ensuring your drivetrain maintains optimal efficiency and responsiveness. The rebuild kit provides everything needed for a complete CVA refresh, allowing you to restore factory performance characteristics and eliminate any play or looseness that may have developed through wear. Quality OEM replacement parts like these are essential for maintaining the precision engineering that makes Associated buggies competitive on UK racing circuits and recreational tracks.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which Team Associated RC buggies is this CVA rebuild kit compatible with? — This rebuild kit is designed to fit multiple Team Associated buggy models including the RC10B5, RC10B5M, RC10B6, RC10B6.1, RC10B64, and RC10B74, as well as their various derivatives and updated versions. Always refer to your specific vehicle's manual and verify the part number AS91438 to confirm fitment before purchasing.
  • When should I replace my CVA couplers and pins? — CVA components should be inspected regularly during maintenance checks. Signs of wear include visible cracks or chips in the couplers, difficulty engaging drive, loose feeling in the driveline, or visible wear on the pin contact surfaces. For competitive racers and regular bashers, replacing CVA components annually as part of routine maintenance is recommended.
  • Is this a difficult repair to perform myself? — The CVA rebuild is straightforward for anyone with basic RC buggy maintenance experience. It requires removing the driveshaft assemblies and replacing the worn couplers and pins with new ones. Refer to your vehicle's manual for detailed assembly instructions and steps. If you're unsure, RC Model Shop staff can provide guidance or perform the work for you.
  • Can I mix old and new CVA components? — It's best practice to replace both couplers and pins as a complete set to ensure consistent performance. Mixing new and worn components can lead to uneven wear and potential driveline issues, so we recommend using all parts from this rebuild kit together.
  • What is the difference between CVA and standard driveshafts? — CVA (Constant Velocity Axle) systems are superior to traditional driveshaft designs because they maintain power transmission efficiency even at extreme suspension angles and during articulation. This is particularly important for off-road RC buggies that experience large suspension movements during racing and bashing.
  • How long do CVA components typically last? — Lifespan depends heavily on driving style and frequency. Casual weekend drivers might get 6-12 months of use, whilst competitive racers performing multiple runs per week may need to replace CVA components every 2-3 months. Regular inspection helps you catch wear before components fail completely.
  • Do I need any special tools to install this rebuild kit? — Standard RC buggy maintenance tools should be sufficient, including hex wrenches and screwdrivers. Your vehicle's manual will specify exactly which tools you'll need. Most RC enthusiasts in the UK will already have these in their pit kit.
