Overview

The Team Associated RC8T3 Shock Shafts 42.5mm (Kit) AS81173 are genuine OEM replacement components engineered for precision RC suspension maintenance and rebuilds. Whether you're a dedicated RC enthusiast in the UK servicing your competition-grade buggy or truggy, or a weekend basher looking to restore your RC car's damping performance, these factory-specification shock shafts are essential spare parts that ensure your suspension system operates at peak efficiency. As authentic Team Associated parts manufactured to exacting standards, these 42.5mm titanium-nitride (TiN) coated shafts deliver the reliability and durability expected from a leading RC manufacturer, making them the smart choice for anyone serious about maintaining their RC vehicle in top condition.

The 42.5mm length specification is precisely matched to select RC8 platform vehicles, making these shafts ideally suited for shock maintenance and rebuilds when your existing components show signs of wear, damage, or performance degradation. Using genuine Team Associated replacement parts ensures straightforward, reliable compatibility with your OEM hardware and guarantees smooth damper action that translates directly to consistent suspension feel and predictable handling characteristics on the track or terrain. These shafts are an absolute must-have for any RC car UK enthusiast who takes their maintenance seriously and understands the critical role suspension plays in overall vehicle performance.

Key Features

  • Titanium-Nitride (TiN) Coating — The 42.5mm shock shafts feature a premium TiN coating that dramatically improves wear resistance, reduces friction, and extends component lifespan compared to uncoated steel, ensuring your suspension performs reliably over extended use and countless competition runs or casual bashings.
  • 42.5mm Precision Length — The exact 42.5mm dimension is factory-specified for RC8B3.2 and RC8T3 platforms, guaranteeing perfect fit within your shock bodies and maintaining the precise suspension geometry that Team Associated engineers designed into these vehicles for optimal handling and performance.
  • OEM Factory Standard Manufacturing — These are genuine Team Associated components manufactured to the same exacting specifications as the original shafts that came with your vehicle, ensuring absolute compatibility with all associated shock hardware including bodies, caps, pistons, rod ends, and mounting components.
  • Comprehensive Rebuild Solution — The kit format means you receive a complete set of shafts ready for comprehensive shock maintenance, allowing you to service both front and rear dampers or maintain a complete spare shock assembly for backup during competition events.
  • Smooth Damper Action Restoration — Worn or damaged shock shafts cause damping inconsistencies and unpredictable suspension behaviour; these genuine replacements restore the smooth, controlled damper action that your RC car UK setup depends on for confident handling and stable platform dynamics.
  • Wide Platform Compatibility — These shafts are suitable for the RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8T3.2, and RC8T3.2e platforms, making them an essential spare part for anyone running any of these competitive 1/8-scale vehicles or their electric variants.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated RC8T3 Shock Shafts 42.5mm represent precision engineering at its finest, engineered for the demanding requirements of competitive 1/8-scale RC buggy and truggy racing. The 42.5mm length specification has been meticulously calculated to work in perfect harmony with Team Associated's shock body geometry, ensuring optimal suspension travel, correct damping characteristics, and precise ride height geometry across your vehicle's suspension range. The titanium-nitride coating applied to these shafts is not merely cosmetic; it represents a significant engineering advantage that reduces friction between the shaft and shock body seal, minimises wear patterns that develop over thousands of operating cycles, and maintains consistent damping performance lap after lap. The premium surface finish ensures that the shaft glides smoothly through the shock body without binding or stiction issues that plague worn or damaged shafts, translating to suspension feel that remains predictable and repeatable whether you're dialling in a brand-new setup or fine-tuning your competition vehicle. Built from hardened steel and finished to factory tolerances, these shafts work seamlessly with Team Associated's complete shock system architecture, which includes compatible pistons in multiple configurations (6x1.3, 6x1.3 tapered, and 8x1.2 tapered), precision-engineered rod ends, spring cups, and all the supporting hardware included in the full rear shock kit. For any RC enthusiast in the UK running Team Associated RC8 platforms, whether you're competing in organised club racing, practising for national championships, or enjoying recreational bashing, maintaining genuine OEM components like these shafts is the foundation of reliable, predictable vehicle performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these shock shafts compatible with my RC8 vehicle? — Yes, these 42.5mm shafts are specifically engineered for the RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8T3.2, and RC8T3.2e platforms, making them the correct OEM replacement for those vehicles. The 42.5mm length specification is factory-matched to these platforms, ensuring perfect compatibility with all associated shock hardware including bodies, pistons, rod ends, and caps.
  • What does the titanium-nitride coating do and why does it matter? — The TiN coating significantly improves wear resistance and reduces friction between the shock shaft and the shock body seal, which means the shafts maintain consistent damping performance over extended use and countless operation cycles, whereas uncoated or worn shafts develop stiction that causes unpredictable suspension behaviour and degraded handling characteristics.
  • When should I replace my shock shafts? — You should consider replacing your shock shafts when you notice signs of wear or damage such as visible scoring or pitting on the shaft surface, inconsistent damping feel between left and right sides of the vehicle, suspension that feels unpredictable or unstable, or when conducting routine maintenance and rebuilds as part of your regular servicing schedule to maintain peak performance.
  • Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Absolutely; these are authentic OEM components manufactured by Team Associated to factory specifications, not aftermarket alternatives, which means they meet the exact tolerances and material specifications that Team Associated engineers designed into your suspension system for optimal performance and reliability.
  • What's included in the kit? — This kit contains 2 × 42.5mm shock shafts with titanium-nitride coating, providing you with a complete set for servicing both dampers or maintaining a complete spare shock assembly, and they work with all the other genuine Team Associated shock components like bodies, pistons, rod ends, and caps that you may already have on hand.
  • Can I use these for both front and rear shocks? — These shafts are specified for rear shock applications on the RC8B3.2 and RC8T3 platforms; while the 42.5mm dimension may appear on other shock applications, you should verify compatibility with your specific vehicle's front shock specification before installation to ensure proper suspension geometry and performance.
  • How does a damaged shock shaft affect my RC car's handling? — Worn or damaged shock shafts cause damping inconsistencies where the shaft no longer glides smoothly through the shock body seal, resulting in unpredictable suspension behaviour, inconsistent ride heights between sides of the vehicle, poor traction during acceleration and braking, and handling that feels unstable or twitchy, all of which significantly impact your RC car's track performance and drivability.

Some highland and remote areas may carry an extra delivery charge as couriers often apply surcharges in these locations. If you live in one of these areas, feel free to contact us before ordering so we can confirm the delivery options and costs for you.
  • Most of our products include delivery in the price. If your order is under £90, a small delivery fee will apply but do not worry this will always be clearly shown at checkout before you complete your purchase.
  • Depending on what you choose at checkout, your order will usually be delivered either the next working day or within 2 working days. For next day delivery please place your order before 2:00pm. Orders are dispatched Monday to Friday only. Some items may take a little longer and if that is the case we will always show the expected delivery time on the product page.
  • If your order includes items with different dispatch times we will normally wait and send everything together once all items are in stock. If one of the items is going to take a while we will give you the choice either wait for everything to arrive or let us send the available items now and deliver the rest later. It is up to you.
  • We use trusted delivery partners to make sure your order gets to you safely and on time. We use DPD for next working day deliveries and Royal Mail for the 2 day option.
  • As soon as your order is on its way we will send you a tracking number by email. If you provide your mobile number at checkout we will also send delivery updates straight to your phone so you can keep an eye on progress.
  • If a product is marked as "Dispatched within 3 working days" delivery usually takes around 3 to 5 working days from when your order is placed.
