Overview

Keep your Team Associated RC8T3 performing at its absolute best with these genuine Associated RC8T3 Shock Shafts 33.5mm (Kit), supplied under part number AS81172. Whether you're a dedicated racer, weekend basher, or serious RC enthusiast in the UK, maintaining your suspension system is crucial for consistent performance on the track or trail. These authentic replacement shock shafts are engineered to restore your dampers to factory specifications, ensuring smooth, predictable handling and reliable suspension response when you need it most.

Suspension maintenance is one of the most important aspects of RC car ownership, yet it's often overlooked by newcomers to the hobby. Over time, shock shafts can become worn, bent, or damaged through regular use, leading to inconsistent damping, fluid leakage, and unpredictable handling characteristics. The Associated RC8T3 Shock Shafts 33.5mm kit provides everything you need to refresh your suspension system without the expense of purchasing a complete new shock assembly. By investing in genuine Associated replacement parts, you're ensuring that your RC8T3 platform maintains the precision engineering and quality standards that Team Associated is renowned for throughout the RC car UK community.

This is an essential maintenance item for anyone who owns an RC8T3 or related platform model. Whether you're preparing for competition, restoring a vehicle that's seen heavy use, or simply performing routine preventative maintenance, these shock shafts will help you achieve the consistent suspension performance that's vital for competitive racing and recreational driving alike.

Key Features

  • Genuine Associated Replacement Parts — These shock shafts are manufactured by Team Associated, the original equipment supplier, guaranteeing perfect fit and compatibility with your RC8T3 suspension system. Using genuine parts ensures you're getting the exact specifications and tolerances that your vehicle was engineered for, rather than relying on aftermarket alternatives that may introduce inconsistencies.
  • 33.5mm Length Specification — The 33.5mm dimension is the correct length for RC8T3 damper applications, ensuring proper shock travel, suspension geometry, and overall handling balance. Using the correct length is essential for maintaining your vehicle's designed suspension characteristics and preventing bottoming out or topping out issues during aggressive driving.
  • Complete Kit Format — This product is supplied as a kit containing all the shock shafts needed for a full suspension rebuild or refresh, eliminating the need to purchase individual components separately. The kit format makes it convenient for users who want to replace all worn shafts at once, ensuring uniform performance across all four corners of the vehicle.
  • Ideal for Suspension Rebuilds — These shafts are specifically intended for routine damper rebuilds and refreshing worn components, making them perfect for maintenance-minded RC enthusiasts who prefer to service their own vehicles. Regular maintenance using genuine parts extends the lifespan of your shock absorbers and maintains consistent performance throughout the season.
  • Restores Consistent Damper Action — Worn or damaged shock shafts can lead to inconsistent damping characteristics, affecting how your vehicle responds to bumps, jumps, and corners. Replacing them with fresh genuine parts restores smooth, precise damper action and helps maintain the suspension tuning your vehicle was designed for, which is especially important for competitive racing where suspension performance directly impacts lap times and overall competitiveness.
  • Compatible with RC8T3 Platform — These shafts are specifically matched to the Team Associated RC8T3 designation and will work seamlessly with your existing RC8T3 suspension components. While they may have compatibility with related RC8T3 variants (such as RC8T3.1E, RC8T3.2, RC8T3.2E and other associated models), confirmation with your specific kit manual is recommended for proper application and installation.

Technical Performance

The Associated RC8T3 Shock Shafts represent precision engineering at its finest, crafted to exacting standards that Team Associated has maintained for decades in the RC racing industry. These 33.5mm shafts are manufactured from high-quality materials selected for their durability, straightness tolerances, and resistance to bending or deformation under the extreme stresses experienced in RC suspension systems. The precise engineering of these components ensures that shock travel remains smooth and predictable, without binding, stiction, or irregular damping characteristics that can compromise vehicle handling. Whether you're running your RC8T3 on asphalt at high speeds, tackling off-road terrain with jumps and landings, or pushing the limits in competitive racing scenarios, these shock shafts are built to withstand the demands whilst maintaining the exacting tolerances that genuine Team Associated components are known for. The kit format allows for complete suspension system refresh, ensuring that all four shocks perform uniformly and that your vehicle's handling characteristics remain balanced and predictable across all driving conditions encountered by RC car UK enthusiasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these shock shafts compatible with my Team Associated RC8T3 model? — Yes, these 33.5mm shock shafts are specifically engineered for the Team Associated RC8T3 platform. However, Association with related variants such as the RC8T3.1E, RC8T3.2, and RC8T3.2E may require confirmation with your kit manual to ensure proper fit and installation. We recommend checking your specific vehicle's documentation or contacting our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop for confirmation if you have any doubts about compatibility.
  • How often should I replace my shock shafts? — The lifespan of shock shafts depends on your driving intensity, maintenance habits, and storage conditions. For competitive racers running multiple sessions weekly, replacement every few months may be necessary. Weekend bashers might find their shafts last much longer. Replace them immediately if you notice visible bending, persistent fluid leakage from shocks, or inconsistent damping behaviour. Regular inspection during routine maintenance helps you catch wear before it affects your vehicle's handling performance.
  • What tools and supplies do I need to install these shock shafts? — Installing shock shafts requires disassembling your shock absorbers, which typically involves removing the shock bodies, pistons, and internal components. You'll need shock tools appropriate for your RC8T3 (often available separately), fresh shock oil, and a clean workspace. For detailed installation instructions, refer to your kit manual which provides step-by-step guidance. If you're unfamiliar with shock service, our experienced team at RC Model Shop is happy to provide advice or recommend alternative service options.
  • Can I use these shock shafts with aftermarket shock bodies? — These genuine Associated shock shafts are designed to work with Team Associated shock bodies that use the same internal architecture as the RC8T3 specification. Some aftermarket shock bodies may have different piston diameters, internal clearances, or shaft length requirements. For best results, use genuine Associated components together, though some experienced users successfully mix components from different manufacturers. Always confirm measurements and specifications before assembly to ensure proper fit and function.
  • How do I know if my shock shafts are damaged? — Visible signs of damage include bending, scoring, rust, or pitting on the shaft surface. Performance indicators include inconsistent damping (one corner feeling softer or stiffer than others), persistent fluid leakage around the piston rod, or unusual noises during suspension compression. Even minor bends can affect damping consistency, so replacement is recommended at the first sign of shaft damage to maintain predictable vehicle handling.
  • Is suspension maintenance complicated for beginners? — Shock service is intermediate-level maintenance that requires patience, cleanliness, and attention to detail, but it's certainly achievable for motivated beginners. Having the right tools and following your manual carefully is essential. If you're new to RC car maintenance, consider having a more experienced friend help with your first rebuild, or visit our RC Model Shop showroom in Walsall where our team can provide hands-on guidance and support.
