Overview

The Team Associated 5/64 Thrust Balls AS6574 are genuine precision replacement parts designed specifically for differential assemblies in Team Associated RC cars. These small but critical components play an essential role in maintaining the smooth, consistent operation of your RC vehicle's differential system. Whether you are a seasoned RC enthusiast running competitive models or a hobbyist maintaining your Team Associated buggy or truck, having the correct replacement thrust balls on hand is vital to keeping your differential preload stable and your car performing at its best.

Manufactured to exacting standards by Team Associated, these 5/64 inch thrust balls are engineered to deliver the precision needed in thrust bearing stacks within RC car differentials. When your differential requires maintenance or replacement parts, using the correct size specification ensures reliable performance and extends the life of your differential assembly. These are genuine OEM parts, not aftermarket alternatives, meaning you can trust them to perform exactly as your Team Associated vehicle was designed to operate.

If you own a Team Associated RC car and your manual or kit specifies 5/64 inch thrust balls, this is the exact replacement you need. From casual weekend bashers to competitive racers across the UK, RC enthusiasts trust genuine Team Associated spares to keep their vehicles running smoothly. RC Model Shop stocks this essential spare part to help you maintain your RC car collection in peak condition.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Associated OEM Part — These are authentic factory replacement parts manufactured by Team Associated, ensuring they meet the exact specifications and quality standards your RC car requires, unlike aftermarket alternatives that may not fit or perform correctly.
  • Precision Manufactured 5/64 Inch Diameter — The thrust balls are manufactured to precise dimensional tolerances, which is critical because even minor size variations can affect differential preload, smoothness and overall vehicle handling.
  • Designed for Thrust Bearing Stacks — These balls are specifically engineered to work within differential thrust bearing stacks, where they help distribute load evenly and maintain proper preload tension during acceleration, deceleration and cornering.
  • Maintains Differential Smooth Operation — Using the correct size thrust balls ensures your differential operates smoothly and consistently, preventing binding, excessive play or premature wear on differential gears and bearings.
  • Reliable Preload Consistency — Proper thrust ball sizing directly affects differential preload, which is essential for predictable handling characteristics and preventing differential slippage during hard cornering and acceleration.
  • Essential Maintenance Spare — Whether you are performing routine differential maintenance, rebuilding after a crash or replacing worn components, these thrust balls are an essential spare to have in your RC toolkit.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated 5/64 Thrust Balls AS6574 represent precision engineering at the microscopic level. Thrust balls may seem like small components, but they play a critical role in differential assemblies found in Team Associated RC cars across multiple model lines. These balls sit within the differential's thrust bearing stack and serve as precision spacers and load-bearing elements. The 5/64 inch diameter specification is critical — using balls that are even slightly undersized or oversized can result in improper preload, which manifests as either binding (too tight) or excessive play (too loose) in the differential. This directly impacts your vehicle's handling characteristics, acceleration response and cornering performance. Team Associated manufactures these balls to exact tolerances using quality materials designed to withstand the loads experienced in modern RC car differentials. The precision manufacturing process ensures that each ball meets strict dimensional specifications, allowing them to work seamlessly within thrust bearing stacks. When combined with proper assembly technique and correct preload settings, these thrust balls deliver the smooth, consistent differential operation that Team Associated engineers designed into their RC vehicles. This is why using genuine parts matters — they are engineered to work together as a complete system. Whether you are maintaining a B-series buggy, T-series touring car, SC-series short course truck, or any other Team Associated model that calls for 5/64 inch thrust balls, you can be confident these parts will perform exactly as specified.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What RC cars use the Team Associated AS6574 5/64 thrust balls? — The AS6574 is designed for Team Associated vehicles and differential assemblies that specifically call for 5/64 inch thrust balls. These include multiple model lines such as the B4.1, B4.2, B5, B5M, B6, B6.1, B6.2, B6.3, T4, T4.1, T4.2, T5M, T6.1, T6.2, SC5M, SC10 series models and many others across Team Associated's range. Always refer to your specific kit manual or assembly instructions to confirm the exact sizing required for your model before ordering.
  • How do I know if my differential needs new thrust balls? — If your differential feels loose, makes rattling noises, has excessive play when you move the output shafts by hand, or if preload cannot be set properly despite adjusting the differential screw, you may need to replace the thrust balls. Over time, repeated use and impacts can deform or damage the balls, compromising differential function. Inspecting thrust balls during regular maintenance helps identify wear before it affects performance.
  • Are these genuine Team Associated parts? — Yes, the AS6574 is a genuine Team Associated OEM replacement part, not an aftermarket clone or substitute. Buying genuine parts ensures perfect fit, correct performance specifications and reliability. Aftermarket alternatives may vary in dimension or material quality, potentially causing differential issues.
  • What is differential preload and why does it matter? — Differential preload is the amount of tension applied to the differential assembly through the thrust balls and preload spring. Correct preload is essential for smooth operation and prevents the differential from locking up or becoming too loose. Using the correct size thrust balls is fundamental to achieving proper preload settings, which directly affects how your RC car accelerates, corners and handles overall.
  • Can I use 5/64 thrust balls in differentials that specify different sizes? — No, you must use the exact size specified by your kit manual or assembly instructions. Using the wrong size will result in incorrect preload, poor differential performance and potential damage. Always verify the exact specification before purchasing replacement parts.
