Overview
The Team Associated FT Silicone Shock 40wt (500cSt) 4oz/118ml bottle (AS5476) is an essential maintenance fluid for serious RC racers and enthusiasts across the UK. Whether you're running a competitive buggy, monster truck, or trail crawler, shock fluid is one of the most frequently replaced consumables in your RC car setup. This Factory Team silicone shock fluid delivers the consistent performance that Team Associated is renowned for, making it the ideal choice for those who demand reliability and precision in their RC vehicles.
What makes this product stand out is the exceptional value proposition—Team Associated have doubled the bottle size to 4oz (118ml) without doubling the price, making it an economical choice for regular maintenance and tuning. For RC enthusiasts in the UK who are constantly adjusting shock damping to dial in their vehicles for different track conditions, weather, and racing scenarios, having a larger bottle on hand eliminates frequent reordering and keeps your RC car in peak condition year-round. This is the same shock fluid trusted by Team Associated factory racers and competitors worldwide.
Shock fluid viscosity is one of the most critical tuning parameters in RC racing. The 40wt (500cSt) rating indicates a medium-weight silicone fluid that provides balanced damping characteristics suitable for a wide range of vehicles and driving conditions. Whether you're bashing on weekends or competing at track events, this shock fluid allows you to fine-tune your suspension response, control body roll, and dial in the perfect ride height for your specific RC car setup.
Key Features
- 40wt (500cSt) Viscosity Rating — The medium-weight classification provides balanced damping performance across various suspension designs and driving styles, allowing you to achieve consistent shock performance whether you're racing competitively or enjoying casual bashing sessions with your RC car.
- 4oz (118ml) Super-Sized Bottle — Team Associated have doubled the volume compared to their standard 2oz bottles, which means you get twice the fluid without paying double the price, making this an exceptionally economical choice for regular maintenance and shock tuning.
- Factory Team Silicone Formula — This is the genuine Team Associated shock fluid trusted by factory racers and competitive drivers, ensuring you're using the exact same damping fluid that goes into championship-winning vehicles.
- Easy Shock Maintenance — The convenient 4oz size means you have plenty of shock fluid on hand for regular maintenance, complete shock rebuilds, and ongoing tuning adjustments without constantly reordering from your RC hobby retailer.
- Consistent Viscosity — Silicone shock fluids provide stable viscosity characteristics across a wide temperature range, ensuring your suspension tuning remains predictable whether you're racing in summer heat or winter conditions in the UK.
- Compatible with Team Associated Vehicles — This shock fluid works with the entire Team Associated range, including the Apex2 series, RC10 models, RC8 series, Reflex buggies, monster trucks, and trail crawlers, making it the go-to fluid for any Associated vehicle owner.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT Silicone Shock 40wt (500cSt) 4oz/118ml delivers professional-grade damping fluid engineered specifically for RC suspension systems. The 500cSt (centistoke) viscosity measurement provides the perfect balance between damping authority and ease of adjustment—it's neither too thin nor too thick, making it ideal for both experienced racers fine-tuning their setups and enthusiasts looking to improve their vehicle's handling characteristics. Silicone shock fluids, as opposed to mineral oils, offer superior consistency across temperature variations, which is particularly important for UK racers who may experience significant weather changes between racing sessions. The fluid is designed to work seamlessly with standard shock absorbers found on Team Associated vehicles ranging from 1/10-scale buggies and monster trucks to specialist crawlers and drift cars. The engineering behind this shock fluid ensures smooth, predictable damping response that translates directly to improved handling, reduced body roll, and more controlled suspension geometry during acceleration, braking, and cornering. Whether you're running a CR12 drift car, a DR10 buggy, an MT12 monster truck, or an Enduro trail crawler, this 40wt silicone fluid provides the consistent performance that serious racers depend on for competitive advantages on the track or trail.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity shock fluid should I use for my Team Associated RC car? — The choice of shock fluid viscosity depends on your vehicle type, suspension design, and driving conditions. The 40wt (500cSt) rating is a medium-weight option that works well for most Team Associated vehicles and provides a good starting point for both beginners and experienced racers. Many racers stock multiple viscosity options (typically 30wt, 40wt, and 50wt) to fine-tune their suspension for different track conditions or weather. If you're unsure which viscosity is right for your specific vehicle, consult your Team Associated manual or contact an experienced RC hobby shop in the UK for recommendations based on your local conditions.
- How often should I change my RC shock fluid? — Shock fluid should be changed whenever you perform a complete shock rebuild or service, which many competitive racers do regularly during the racing season. Some racers refresh their fluid every few months depending on how frequently they use their vehicle. If you notice your shocks feeling less responsive or performing inconsistently, it's often time for fresh shock fluid. The 4oz size of this bottle means you'll have enough fluid for multiple shock rebuilds without running out.
- Can I use this shock fluid in any Team Associated vehicle? — This shock fluid is compatible with the entire Team Associated range, including current and classic models such as the Apex2 series, RC10 variants (RC10B6, RC10B7, RC10T, RC10SC6.4, etc.), RC8 models, Reflex buggies, monster trucks like the MT12, trail crawlers including the Enduro series, drift cars like the DC10, and competition vehicles like the Pro2 and Pro4 models. Always check your specific vehicle's manual for any particular shock fluid recommendations.
- Is 40wt shock fluid suitable for racing? — Yes, 40wt (500cSt) silicone shock fluid is commonly used by competitive racers and is suitable for serious racing applications. The medium viscosity provides a good balance between damping force and ease of fine-tuning, making it popular with Team Associated factory racers. Many competitors keep multiple viscosity options on hand to adapt to different track conditions, weather, and specific setup requirements for their vehicles.
- Why is silicone shock fluid better than mineral oil? — Silicone shock fluids offer several advantages over mineral oils, primarily superior stability across temperature ranges. This consistency means your suspension tuning remains predictable whether you're racing in warm summer conditions or cooler UK winter weather. Silicone fluids also resist oxidation better and maintain their damping characteristics more reliably over extended use, which is why professional racers and Team Associated factory teams rely on silicone formulations.
- What's the difference between 30wt, 40wt, and 50wt shock fluid? — The numbers indicate viscosity ratings—lower numbers (30wt) are thinner and provide less damping resistance, making them suitable for very soft setups or high-grip tracks. Medium viscosity (40wt) like this product offers balanced damping for general-purpose racing and bashing. Higher viscosity (50wt) is thicker and provides more damping force, suitable for very loose track conditions or if you want firmer suspension response. Most serious racers keep multiple viscosity options available for tuning flexibility.
