Technical Performance
The Team Associated FT Silicone Shock Fluid 37.5wt (463cSt) represents the pinnacle of suspension tuning precision for RC cars and trucks across the United Kingdom. The 463 centistoke rating (cSt) provides a precisely measured viscosity that delivers optimal damping force without excessive resistance or insufficient control. This mid-range weight is particularly valued by experienced RC enthusiasts because it offers balanced performance characteristics suitable for a wide spectrum of driving conditions—from smooth tarmac and astroturf racing surfaces to loose dirt tracks and challenging rocky terrain. The silicone-based formulation ensures that viscosity remains consistent regardless of temperature fluctuations, a critical factor for maintaining predictable suspension behaviour whether you're racing in summer heat, autumn coolness, or winter conditions. The fluid's thermal stability prevents degradation during extended use, maintaining shock damping characteristics throughout entire race meetings or long practice sessions. The purity of the Factory Team fluid ensures it flows smoothly through precision shock absorber internals without leaving residue, deposits or varnish buildup that could compromise shock performance over time. This attention to fluid quality directly translates to suspension reliability, consistent lap times, and equipment longevity. For competitive racers running ready to run RC cars or custom builds, this fluid represents the same quality standard used by professional drivers and racing teams worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity weight should I choose for my RC car suspension setup? — Shock fluid viscosity is measured in both weight (wt) and centistokes (cSt). The 37.5wt (463cSt) represents a mid-range weight that works well for balanced suspension response on most track types. Lighter weights (like 25wt or lower) provide softer damping and faster shock response, ideal for bumpy tracks or aggressive driving styles. Heavier weights (like 50wt or higher) provide stiffer damping and more controlled suspension, suited to smooth surfaces or conservative setups. Experimenting with different weights is how top racers fine-tune their vehicles, and having a quality fluid like this allows you to do exactly that.
- Is silicone shock fluid better than other types of shock oil? — Yes, silicone-based shock fluids offer several advantages over mineral oil alternatives. Silicone maintains more consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, meaning your suspension performs predictably whether racing in summer heat or winter cold. Silicone is also less likely to break down or develop residue buildup inside shock absorbers, extending the service life of your suspension components and maintaining damping performance over many racing seasons. Professional-grade silicone fluids like the Factory Team formulation are the industry standard for competitive RC racing.
- How much shock fluid do I need, and how long does a 4oz bottle last? — The amount of fluid needed depends on your shock design and how many shocks you're servicing. Typical 1/10 scale RC cars use between 1-4 shocks, and each shock typically holds between 0.5-1.5oz of fluid depending on shock size and design. A 4oz (118ml) bottle provides enough fluid to service multiple shocks or maintain several vehicles, making it economical for racers who regularly adjust and maintain their suspension. For a single vehicle, one bottle typically lasts many racing seasons unless you're constantly adjusting and draining shocks for tuning experiments.
- Will this fluid work in my Team Associated vehicle? — This FT Silicone Shock Fluid is designed and recommended for use across Team Associated's extensive range of RC vehicles including the RC10 series (RC10B6, RC10B7, RC10SC, RC10T and all variants), RC8 series (RC8B3, RC8B4, RC8T3, RC8T4 and all variants), TC6 and TC7 touring cars, SC10 short course trucks, MT12 monster trucks, RB10 buggies, DR10 drift cars, ProSC and ProRally vehicles, and many other models. Check your vehicle manual for recommended shock fluid weight, or consult the Team Associated fluid chart to confirm the correct viscosity for your specific setup.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this shock fluid is suitable for beginners through to professional racers. Beginners benefit from using quality shock fluid that provides consistent performance, helping them learn vehicle control and tuning principles with reliable equipment. The spill-proof design and sealed bottle make handling and storage simple and safe, suitable for hobby workshops and pit boxes of all experience levels.
- How do I change and refill my RC shock absorbers? — Shock servicing involves removing the shock from your vehicle, separating the shock body from the shaft, carefully draining old fluid, cleaning internal components, and refilling with fresh fluid to the correct level. Always refer to your shock manufacturer's or vehicle manual's specific instructions, as procedures vary between shock designs. Wear gloves when handling shock fluid, work over a tray to catch spills, and dispose of old fluid responsibly according to your local waste guidelines.
- Why is the seal insert important? — The spill-proof seal insert prevents accidental leakage during storage and transport, eliminating waste and keeping your pit box, workshop and vehicle clean. This design feature is particularly valuable for racers who travel to competitions or track days, ensuring your shock fluid arrives ready to use without any spillage or contamination.
- What makes Factory Team products different from standard Team Associated products? — Factory Team (FT) products represent Team Associated's premium racing line, engineered and tested for competitive racing use. These products are designed to meet the exact specifications and quality standards required by professional racing teams and serious competitors. While all Team Associated products are excellent quality, Factory Team represents the highest precision and performance standard.
