Overview
The Associated Silicone Diff Fluid 100,000cSt (AS5459) is a newly developed premium silicone blend specifically formulated by Associated for superior RC racing performance. As part of the Factory Team range, this high-viscosity differential fluid represents the pinnacle of precision tuning for serious RC enthusiasts across the UK and beyond. Whether you're competing at the highest levels or fine-tuning your RC car setup for optimal performance, this laboratory-tested fluid delivers the consistency and longevity that competitive RC racers demand.
This is an essential consumable for any RC car enthusiast running gear differentials, particularly those with Team Associated platforms such as the RC8 and other modern competition vehicles. The 100,000cSt viscosity is specifically engineered for gear differential applications, offering precise control over differential lock-up and handling characteristics. If you're serious about RC car racing in the UK and want to extract maximum performance from your setup, Factory Team silicone differential fluids are the professional choice.
Premium silicone differential fluids like this one enable racers to dial in their vehicles with micron-level precision. The difference between a good setup and a winning setup often comes down to small details like differential fluid viscosity, making this product an investment in competitive performance rather than a simple consumable.
Key Features
- 100,000cSt High-Viscosity Rating — This specific viscosity is engineered for gear differential applications, providing the exact fluid thickness needed to fine-tune differential lock-up and overall handling balance in competition RC cars.
- Factory Team Premium Silicone Blend — Developed directly by Associated's factory racing team, this is not a generic differential fluid but a purpose-built product tested at the highest levels of RC competition.
- Laboratory-Tested Performance — This fluid has been rigorously tested in controlled laboratory conditions to ensure consistent performance, reliability and longevity under demanding racing conditions.
- Superior Consistency — The premium silicone formulation provides more consistent differential action compared to standard fluids, giving you predictable handling characteristics lap after lap.
- Enhanced Longevity — Unlike cheaper differential fluids that break down under heat and stress, this Factory Team fluid maintains its properties over extended racing sessions and multiple events.
- Gear Differential Compatibility — Specifically formulated for gear differential applications, making it ideal for Team Associated models and other RC vehicles using traditional gear diff setups.
- Comprehensive Viscosity Range Available — Part of a broader Factory Team silicone fluid range, allowing you to select from multiple viscosities for complete differential tuning flexibility.
Technical Performance
The Associated Factory Team Silicone Differential Fluid 100,000cSt represents the intersection of advanced materials science and competitive RC racing expertise. This premium silicone blend has been engineered from the ground up to provide consistent, predictable differential action in high-performance RC cars. The 100,000cSt viscosity rating sits at the higher end of the spectrum, making it suitable for situations where you need a higher degree of differential lock-up and resistance to spinning. The laboratory testing ensures that every bottle delivers identical performance characteristics, which is critical when you're trying to achieve repeatable results across multiple heats or racing sessions. The premium silicone formulation resists thermal breakdown better than conventional oils, maintaining its viscosity even when your differentials heat up during intense racing. This stability translates to more predictable handling and better consistency in your lap times. The improved longevity of this fluid means you'll spend less time maintaining your equipment and more time racing, whilst also reducing the overall cost of differential maintenance over a season of competition.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity should I use for my RC car differential? — Differential fluid viscosity directly affects how much your differential locks up and how your vehicle handles. Higher viscosities like this 100,000cSt fluid provide more lock-up and are typically used for high-traction surfaces or when you want more predictable handling. Lower viscosities provide more slip. You should consult your vehicle's manual or your racing team to determine the optimal viscosity for your specific setup and driving conditions.
- Is this suitable for Team Associated RC8 models? — Yes, this fluid is specifically mentioned as compatible with gear differentials in Team Associated platforms such as the RC8. If you own an RC8 or similar Team Associated competition vehicle with a gear differential, this is the factory-recommended option.
- Why use Factory Team fluids instead of generic differential oils? — Factory Team fluids are developed by Associated's racing engineers using the same standards as their competition vehicles. Generic oils lack the consistency testing, thermal stability and performance characteristics that dedicated racing fluids provide. When you're competing, using the same products as the factory team gives you the confidence that your setup matches professional standards.
- How often should I change my differential fluid? — This depends on how frequently you race and the conditions you race in. Most competitive racers change differential fluid regularly, potentially multiple times during an event or season. Check your vehicle manual for specific maintenance intervals, but having multiple bottles of differential fluid on hand is a good practice for serious racers.
- What's the difference between 100,000cSt and other viscosities? — Differential fluids come in various viscosities measured in centistokes (cSt). Higher numbers (like 100,000cSt) are thicker and provide more differential lock-up, whilst lower viscosities are thinner and allow more slip. Your choice should be based on track conditions, traction level and your vehicle's setup. Factory Team offers multiple viscosities so you can fine-tune your differential to suit different racing environments.
- Is this product suitable for beginners? — Whilst beginners can certainly use this product, differential tuning is typically an intermediate to advanced skill. If you're just starting with RC cars in the UK, you may want to begin with a standard setup and learn more about how differential viscosity affects handling before investing in premium racing fluids. However, if you're serious about RC racing from the outset, using professional-grade fluids from the start is never a mistake.
