Overview

The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 70Wt (900cSt) AS5437 is an essential maintenance fluid for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand professional-grade performance from their suspension systems. Whether you're fine-tuning a competitive race setup or maintaining your weekend basher, this premium silicone shock oil provides the consistent damping characteristics that serious RC car UK hobbyists rely on. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., this fluid represents the gold standard in shock oil performance for modern RC vehicles.

Shock oil selection is critical to RC car performance and handling. The viscosity rating directly affects how your suspension responds to bumps, corners and acceleration. This 70WT formula, measured at 900cSt (centistokes), offers the perfect balance for a wide range of Team Associated vehicles from competition buggies to trail trucks and everything in between. The extensive compatibility list spans decades of Team Associated engineering excellence, from classic models like the RC10 and SC10 through to the latest Apex and Element platforms. If you're serious about RC car maintenance and want to dial in your suspension setup with professional-grade fluid, this is the product trusted by Team Associated engineers and race teams worldwide.

Available in a convenient 2 fl. oz. bottle with practical design features including a spill-proof seal insert and a twist-to-open cap, this shock oil is engineered for ease of use without compromising on quality or performance. The seal insert means you can transport your RC car safely without worrying about leaks during travel, whilst the twist-to-open cap provides clean, controlled dispensing every time you need to refill or adjust your shock setup.

Key Features

  • 70WT (900cSt) Silicone Formula — The viscosity rating of 70WT with a kinematic viscosity of 900 centistokes provides the ideal damping characteristics for suspension tuning on modern RC cars, allowing you to achieve precise handling adjustments for both competitive racing and recreational driving.
  • Made in the USA by Lucas Oil Products Inc. — Manufactured exclusively for Team Associated by an industry-leading lubricant specialist, ensuring consistent quality, purity and performance in every bottle you purchase for your RC collection.
  • Spill-Proof Seal Insert — The integrated seal insert prevents spillage during transport and storage, protecting your vehicle, workbench and RC car bag from messy leaks, which is essential when travelling to track days or club meetings across the UK.
  • Twist-to-Open Cap — A user-friendly cap design allows for precise, controlled dispensing of the shock oil, making it easy to add exactly the right amount to your shocks without waste or mess during maintenance sessions.
  • 2 fl. oz. Bottle Size — The convenient bottle volume provides enough fluid for multiple shock refills or adjustments, offering excellent value for money whilst remaining compact enough to fit in any RC toolbox or pit bag.

Technical Performance

The 70WT viscosity specification is precisely engineered to deliver optimal performance across Team Associated's comprehensive vehicle lineup. At 900 centistokes (cSt), this silicone-based fluid provides the perfect balance between response and damping control. Silicone shock oils are preferred in modern RC racing because they maintain consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, provide excellent lubrication properties for shock components, and resist oxidation and degradation during extended use. The fluid's formulation by Lucas Oil Products Inc. ensures purity and batch consistency, meaning every bottle performs identically to the last. This consistency is crucial when making fine suspension adjustments for competitive RC buggy or truck racing, where even small variations in damping can affect lap times and handling characteristics. The 900cSt rating sits in the mid-range of shock oil viscosities, making it suitable for general-purpose tuning on both carpet and off-road RC cars. Lighter oils (like 30WT) provide faster response but less damping control, whilst heavier oils (like 150WT or 200WT) offer more damping resistance but slower shock response. The 70WT sweet spot makes this fluid ideal for most recreational and competitive setups without requiring additional oils in your maintenance kit. The spill-proof seal insert demonstrates Lucas Oil's attention to practical design, whilst the twist cap delivers professional-grade precision when dispensing the fluid into your shock absorbers.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 70WT and 900cSt rating mean for my RC car? — The WT (weight) rating indicates the viscosity or thickness of the shock oil. 70WT with 900 centistokes (cSt) is a standard midrange viscosity that provides balanced damping characteristics for suspension tuning. Thicker oils create more damping resistance and slower shock response, whilst thinner oils allow faster response with less resistance. The 70WT formula is suitable for most Team Associated RC vehicles and works well for both racing and recreational use without requiring multiple oil types.
  • Is this silicone shock oil suitable for all Team Associated RC cars? — Yes, the extensive compatibility list confirms this fluid works across generations of Team Associated vehicles, including the RC10, RC8, SC10, RC8B, RC10B, TC series, Apex models, Element Enduro platforms, Reflex series, Rival Monster Trucks, and many others spanning from older classic models to the latest releases. This makes it an ideal choice if you own multiple Associated vehicles and want a single reliable fluid for maintenance across your entire collection.
  • How often should I change or refill my shock oil? — Shock oil should be checked and refilled regularly during vehicle maintenance, typically after every 2-3 hours of running or whenever you notice reduced damping performance. Many racers check their shocks before every competition to ensure consistent performance, whilst recreational drivers typically refresh their shocks every few months depending on usage. The 2 fl. oz. bottle size provides enough fluid for multiple refills on a single vehicle or partial refills across several cars.
  • Can I use this oil if I'm new to RC cars? — Absolutely. Whilst shock oil viscosity selection is an advanced tuning aspect of RC car setup, this 70WT formula is considered a standard general-purpose shock oil that works well for most drivers and vehicles. If you're learning about RC car suspension, this is an excellent baseline fluid to start with. As you progress and understand how damping affects handling, you might explore lighter or heavier weights for specific conditions, but the 70WT will serve you well as you develop your skills.
  • What is the difference between silicone shock oil and other types? — Silicone-based shock oils, like this Team Associated product, offer several advantages over synthetic or mineral alternatives. They maintain consistent viscosity across a wider temperature range, provide superior lubrication for precision shock components, resist oxidation and degradation during extended storage and use, and deliver more predictable performance during competitive racing. Team Associated specifically formulates their shock oils in silicone because it provides the most reliable performance across their vehicle range.
  • Is the 2 fl. oz. bottle size enough for my needs? — The 2 fl. oz. (approximately 60ml) bottle is designed as a replacement fluid for periodic shock maintenance and tuning adjustments. If you're completely draining and refilling multiple shocks from empty, you may need multiple bottles depending on your vehicle type and shock size. However, for regular top-ups and suspension adjustments, which is the most common use case, a single bottle provides several refills and represents excellent value.
  • Why should I buy this specific shock oil rather than a cheaper alternative? — Team Associated shock oil is formulated and quality-controlled exclusively by Lucas Oil Products Inc. to exact specifications matching the engineering requirements of Associated vehicles. Using the manufacturer-recommended fluid ensures consistent performance, proper damping characteristics, and protection for your suspension components. Budget shock oils may vary in viscosity between bottles, contain impurities, or break down faster under racing conditions, ultimately costing more in vehicle maintenance and performance issues. Investing in genuine Team Associated shock oil is investing in reliable setup performance and vehicle longevity.
