Overview
Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 37.5Wt (463Cst) is a precision damping fluid engineered for RC car suspension tuning. Whether you're setting up a competition-grade RC buggy, stadium truck, or short course truck for the track, this half-weight silicone shock oil gives you the flexibility to dial in your suspension response without the hassle of mixing fluids. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products, this professional-grade shock fluid is trusted by RC enthusiasts across the UK and recognised globally for its consistency and reliability.
If you're serious about RC car performance, you'll understand that suspension tuning is crucial to competitive racing. Standard shock oils often come in heavier weights, limiting your tuning options. This 37.5Wt formulation bridges the gap between common viscosity grades, allowing you to achieve precise damping characteristics that match your track conditions, driving style and vehicle setup. Whether you're running an RC10, TC7, RC8, APEX, or any of the many Team Associated models, having access to half-weight oils expands your tuning range dramatically and helps you extract maximum performance from your RC car UK setup.
The seal insert cap means this silicone shock fluid is completely spill-proof during transport and storage, so you can take it to track days without worrying about leaks in your pit bag. For RC hobbyists and competitive racers alike, Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 37.5Wt represents an investment in suspension consistency and performance optimisation.
Key Features
- Half-Weight Viscosity Grade (37.5Wt / 463cSt) — This intermediate weight sits between standard shock oil grades, giving you expanded tuning options that allow you to fine-tune your suspension response without having to mix fluids together, which saves time and ensures consistency every time you refill your shocks.
- Made in USA by Lucas Oil Products — Manufactured exclusively for Team Associated using premium formulations, this shock oil delivers the consistency and performance that professional RC racers and serious hobbyists demand from their suspension fluid.
- No More Mixing Required — Instead of blending different weights to achieve the exact viscosity you need, these pre-formulated half-weight oils give you the right weight every time, eliminating mixing errors and ensuring repeatable handling characteristics between races.
- Spill-Proof Seal Insert Cap — The twist-to-open cap features a seal insert design that prevents leakage during transport, protecting your pit bag, RC car and tools from accidental spills whilst moving between tracks or storage.
- 2 Fluid Ounce Bottle — Each bottle contains 2 fl. oz. of shock fluid, providing enough product for multiple shock refills depending on your RC car model and shock capacity, with a larger 4 oz. version also available if you need additional supply.
- Consistent Viscosity Performance — The 463cSt rating ensures reliable damping characteristics across a wide range of track temperatures and surface conditions, helping your RC car maintain predictable handling whether racing on clay, asphalt or dirt surfaces.
- Compatible with 100+ Team Associated Models — This silicone shock oil is specified for use across the entire Team Associated range, including RC10, RC8, TC series, SC series, APEX models, Reflex, Enduro, Rival and many more current and classic vehicles.
Technical Performance
The 37.5Wt (463cSt) viscosity rating represents a carefully formulated silicone oil designed to provide smooth, consistent damping in RC vehicle shock absorbers. Viscosity, measured in centistokes (cSt), determines how the fluid flows through the shock piston, directly affecting how quickly the suspension compresses and rebounds. At 463cSt, this oil offers a moderate viscosity that balances responsiveness with stability — lighter oils provide faster shock response but less control, whilst heavier oils offer more control but can feel sluggish. The half-weight formulation is particularly valuable because it allows you to achieve fine-tuned suspension characteristics without resorting to mixing two different weights, which introduces inconsistency. The Lucas Oil manufacturing pedigree ensures molecular stability across temperature variations, so your suspension performs consistently whether you're racing during a cold UK winter morning or a warm summer day. The silicone base provides superior oxidation resistance compared to mineral oils, meaning your shock fluid maintains its performance characteristics longer and doesn't degrade as quickly when exposed to air. This extended fluid life reduces maintenance costs and ensures that your shocks perform predictably throughout an entire racing season. The seal insert cap design minimises oxidation by preventing unnecessary air exposure when the bottle is stored, further extending shelf life and maintaining fluid quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 37.5Wt and 463cSt mean? — The 37.5Wt (weight) and 463cSt (centistokes) are two different measurements of viscosity. Centistokes is the technical measurement used in laboratories, whilst weight is the common notation used by RC racers and hobbyists. Both numbers describe the same thing: how thick the oil is and how fast it flows through your shock absorber. A 37.5Wt oil is considered a half-weight, sitting between standard weights and giving you more tuning flexibility.
- Why should I use half-weight shock oils? — Half-weight oils expand your suspension tuning range significantly. Instead of jumping from one full weight to the next (which might make a big difference to handling), half-weights let you make smaller, more precise adjustments to damping. This is especially valuable if you're fine-tuning for specific track conditions or trying to dial in the perfect setup between two standard weights.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this shock oil is suitable for anyone with RC cars, from casual hobbyists to serious competitors. Beginners should start with the shock oil weight recommended in their vehicle's manual, and these half-weight options provide an easy way to experiment with different damping characteristics as you develop your tuning skills.
- What Team Associated models is this compatible with? — This silicone shock oil is compatible with over 100 Team Associated RC vehicles across their entire range, including RC10 models (RC10T, RC10B, RC10F, RC10SC), RC8 models (RC8T, RC8B), TC series (TC6, TC7), SC series (SC10), APEX models, Reflex buggies and trucks, Enduro trail trucks, Rival monster trucks, and many specialist models. Check the compatibility list in the product documentation for your specific vehicle.
- How much shock oil does each bottle contain? — Each bottle contains 2 fluid ounces (approximately 59 millilitres) of shock fluid. This amount is sufficient for refilling your vehicle's shocks multiple times depending on your shock capacity. If you use shocks regularly or run multiple vehicles, Team Associated also offers a 4 oz. version for increased supply.
- Can I mix this oil with other weights to fine-tune? — Whilst it's technically possible to mix shock oils of different weights, the whole point of offering half-weight oils like this 37.5Wt is to eliminate the need for mixing. Using pre-formulated oils ensures consistency and accuracy in your tuning. If you need a different weight, it's better to use another pre-formulated weight rather than mixing.
- How do I use the spill-proof cap? — The cap features a twist-to-open design with a seal insert that prevents leakage. Simply twist counterclockwise to open when filling your shocks, then twist clockwise to seal. The seal insert means you can safely transport the bottle in your pit bag without risk of spills.
- Where should I store this shock oil? — Store the sealed bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The seal insert cap helps prevent oxidation and maintains fluid quality during storage. Properly stored, shock oils remain usable for extended periods, though it's always best to use fresh fluid for critical races.
