Overview

Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 55Wt (725cSt) AS5431 is a premium Factory Team silicone formulation specifically engineered for high-performance RC racing and suspension tuning. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC buggy, truck or short course vehicle, or an enthusiast looking to optimise your RC car's handling characteristics, this 55-weight shock oil delivers the consistency and performance you need. Made in the USA exclusively by Lucas Oil Products Inc, this silicone shock fluid is part of Team Associated's Factory Team range, a newly developed premium line of oils that professionals and serious hobbyists trust for superior RC racing performance.

The 55WT viscosity provides a firmer damping option compared to lighter oils, making it ideal for drivers who want to tailor their suspension setup to specific track conditions, weather, and driving styles. Whether you're running your RC car in the UK or abroad, this shock oil helps you achieve more predictable, responsive handling by controlling how quickly your shocks compress and rebound. This makes it an essential tuning component for anyone serious about maximising their RC vehicle's performance on the track or trail.

As part of a wide viscosity range that now includes 45wt and 55wt options, Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 55Wt integrates seamlessly into the Factory Team ecosystem, giving you flexibility to adjust damping characteristics across your entire fleet of RC cars. The newly expanded range demonstrates Team Associated's commitment to providing racers with precisely calibrated tuning options for every suspension setup.

Key Features

  • Premium Factory Team Silicone Formulation — This shock oil is engineered from high-quality silicone compounds specifically formulated for RC racing applications, ensuring superior performance and consistency compared to generic shock fluids. The premium formulation means you get stable viscosity characteristics across temperature ranges, which translates to more predictable handling no matter the conditions.
  • 55WT Viscosity Rating (725cSt) — The 55-weight rating provides a firmer damping profile that helps control suspension movement more aggressively than lighter oils. This heavier viscosity is ideal for high-speed racing, tight track layouts, or when you need more resistance to shock compression for better stability and cornering precision.
  • Superior RC Racing Performance — Specifically developed for high-performance RC racing rather than generic applications, this shock oil delivers the consistent, responsive damping characteristics that competitive racers depend on. The carefully balanced formulation ensures your suspension responds predictably to track inputs, helping you achieve faster lap times and better vehicle control.
  • Spill-Proof Seal Insert Design — The bottle features a seal insert twist-to-open cap that prevents accidental spills during transport and storage. This practical design element ensures you can safely carry your shock oil to the track without risking spillage that could damage your RC car or your gear.
  • Convenient 2 fl. oz. Bottle Size — The 2 fluid ounce bottle provides a practical quantity for multiple shock refills and adjustments, giving you enough oil to fine-tune your suspension setup across multiple track sessions or to service all four shocks on your RC vehicle.
  • Part of an Expanded Factory Team Range — This product is available as part of a comprehensive range including newly added 45wt and 55wt shock oil options, plus Factory Team silicone differential fluids in popular viscosities for gear diff applications. This comprehensive ecosystem allows you to tune every aspect of your suspension system with premium Factory Team products.
  • Compatible with Extensive Team Associated Vehicle Range — This shock oil works with dozens of Team Associated models including the RC10 series, RC8 series, TC (touring car) range, SC10 short course trucks, the entire Apex range, Reflex buggies, and Element Enduro trail trucks, making it a universal tuning solution for most Team Associated RC vehicles.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 55Wt represents years of racing expertise distilled into a precision suspension fluid. At 725 centistokes viscosity, this oil provides measurable damping characteristics that experienced RC racers and engineers have determined delivers optimal performance across a wide range of track conditions and driving styles. The silicone base stock ensures that viscosity remains stable whether you're running at room temperature indoors or in warmer outdoor racing conditions. Unlike cheaper mineral-based shock oils that break down or change viscosity with temperature fluctuations, this premium silicone formulation maintains its characteristics, meaning your suspension tuning remains consistent throughout your racing day. The 2 fl. oz. bottle format is standard for shock oil applications in 1/10, 1/8, and 1/7 scale RC cars, and the carefully formulated chemistry has been validated across Team Associated's entire model range—from precision touring cars and buggies to high-speed short course trucks and trail-oriented vehicles. The seal insert design reflects professional-grade thinking about product integrity; your shock oil stays clean and uncontaminated during transport and storage, ensuring it delivers optimal performance when you pour it into your shocks. Made exclusively in the USA by Lucas Oil Products Inc., a company with decades of experience in high-performance automotive fluids, this product benefits from automotive-grade manufacturing standards applied to the unique demands of RC racing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does 55WT mean and how is it different from lighter shock oils? — The WT (weight) rating indicates viscosity, with higher numbers meaning thicker, more resistant oil. 55WT is a firmer damping option compared to lighter weights, meaning your shocks will resist compression more aggressively. This heavier viscosity is ideal when you need more control and stability, particularly on high-speed tracks, or when running on bumpy terrain where you want more damping resistance. Lighter oils like 45WT compress more easily, offering softer, more compliant damping for smoother, more forgiving suspension action.
  • Which Team Associated RC cars is this shock oil compatible with? — This shock oil is compatible with an extensive range of Team Associated vehicles including the RC10 series (RC10B6, RC10B7, RC10T series, RC10SC series), the RC8 series (RC8B3, RC8B4, RC8T3, RC8T4 and their electronic variants), touring cars (TC6.2, TC7, TC7.1, TC7.2), short course trucks (SC10, SC8, SC18 series), the Apex touring range, Reflex buggy series, RB10, Enduro trail trucks, Rival monster trucks, and many other models. If you're unsure whether this oil works with your specific vehicle, refer to the manufacturer's compatibility list which includes over 100 different Team Associated models.
  • Is Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 55Wt suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. While 55WT is a firmer damping option that experienced racers often prefer for performance tuning, beginners can certainly use this shock oil. Shock oil is not about complexity—it's about suspension tuning. If you're new to RC racing and your vehicle came with shock oil, you can use this 55WT as a replacement. However, if you prefer a more forgiving, softer-damping suspension feel while learning, you might consider a lighter viscosity like 45WT. Either way, both are premium products suitable for any skill level.
  • How much shock oil do I need to refill my RC car's shocks? — The amount depends on your specific RC vehicle's shock design and whether you're doing a complete refill or just topping up. The 2 fl. oz. bottle typically provides enough oil for multiple refills across all four shocks on most 1/10 scale RC cars, with some left over for future adjustments. Always refer to your vehicle's manual for exact capacity specifications, as different models have different shock volumes.
  • Can I mix different viscosities of shock oil in the same car? — Some experienced racers do this strategically, putting stiffer oil (like 55WT) in the front shocks and softer oil in the rear, or vice versa, to achieve specific handling characteristics. However, this is an advanced tuning technique. For most users, it's better to select a single viscosity that works well for your track conditions and stick with it, only changing when conditions change significantly.
  • Why is Team Associated's Factory Team silicone better than generic shock oil? — Factory Team silicone formulation is specifically engineered for RC racing performance with attention to viscosity stability across temperature ranges, purity to prevent shock seal degradation, and consistency that professional racers rely on. Generic shock oils may use different base stocks or additives that don't perform as predictably in racing conditions, potentially leading to inconsistent damping and handling that makes it harder to achieve fast lap times.
  • Is this the right viscosity for UK track conditions? — The 55WT viscosity works well for most UK track conditions, particularly for racing in normal to warm temperatures. UK indoor tracks and outdoor clay tracks during spring and summer typically work well with 55WT. If you race in particularly cold conditions or prefer a more compliant suspension feel, 45WT might be worth trying, but 55WT is the firmer, more performance-oriented choice suitable for serious racing.
