Overview
The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 25Wt (275cSt) AS5428 is a precision-engineered damping fluid designed for RC enthusiasts who demand consistent, repeatable performance from their shock absorbers. Whether you're racing a competitive RC buggy, driving an RC short course truck, or enjoying weekend bashings with your RC car UK setup, this silicone shock oil delivers the tuning accuracy you need without the frustration of mixing multiple fluid weights. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., this 2 fl. oz. bottle represents the gold standard in aftermarket shock fluid for discerning RC drivers who understand that suspension tuning is the foundation of winning performance.
The 25Wt viscosity formulation provides a crucial middle ground in your shock tuning arsenal. Rather than forcing you to blend different weights together — a time-consuming process that introduces inconsistency and makes it difficult to replicate setups — the 25Wt offers a half-weight option that sits perfectly between 20Wt and 30Wt ratings. This means you can climb your viscosity ladder in precise, repeatable steps, making your setup changes quick, consistent, and scientifically traceable. For serious RC competitors and dedicated enthusiasts across the UK, this is the difference between guesswork and genuine engineering precision.
Compatible with an extensive range of Team Associated vehicles — from the legendary RC10 series through the modern Apex2 platform, Element Enduro trail trucks, Reflex buggies, and everything in between — this shock oil is the trusted choice of Team Associated factory racers and weekend warriors alike. The convenient 2 fl. oz. bottle features a practical twist-to-open cap with a seal insert that means spill-proof travel, so you can carry your shock oils to the track without worry.
Key Features
- 25Wt Viscosity (275cSt) — This specific weight provides optimal damping characteristics for a wide range of driving conditions and chassis setups, offering the precision tuning point that many RC drivers need to dial in their suspension perfectly. The 275cSt measurement ensures consistent performance across temperature variations and extended driving sessions.
- Half-Weight Formulation — By providing a 25Wt option between standard 20Wt and 30Wt weights, you eliminate the need to manually blend oils together, saving time and ensuring absolute consistency in your suspension setup every single time you visit the track or bashyard.
- Lucas Oil Products Manufacture — This shock fluid is produced exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., a globally recognised manufacturer of premium lubricants and hydraulic fluids, guaranteeing quality control and performance reliability that aftermarket competitors simply cannot match.
- Made in the USA — Manufactured to exacting American standards, this silicone shock oil benefits from decades of Lucas Oil's expertise in precision fluid engineering, ensuring that every drop meets Team Associated's demanding specifications.
- Spill-Proof Twist Cap with Seal Insert — The thoughtfully designed bottle features a twist-to-open cap combined with a secure seal insert, meaning you can safely transport your shock oils in your RC kit bag or pit box without fear of spillage or contamination.
- 2 fl. oz. Bottle Size — The 2 fluid ounce capacity provides ample fluid for multiple shock rebuilds and adjustments, making this a practical, economical choice for regular RC maintenance and tuning work.
- Broad Vehicle Compatibility — Compatible with an enormous range of Team Associated vehicles spanning multiple generations and classes, from touring cars and buggies to short course trucks, monster trucks, and specialist platforms like drift cars and rock crawlers.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 25Wt achieves its reputation for reliability through premium silicone formulation that provides stable damping performance across the full spectrum of driving conditions encountered by RC enthusiasts in the UK and worldwide. The 275cSt viscosity rating represents the precise thickness of the fluid, measured under standardised conditions, ensuring that whether you're running your RC buggy in warm summer conditions or cool autumn temperatures, the damping characteristics remain consistent and predictable. Silicone-based fluids offer superior performance stability compared to standard mineral oils, maintaining their viscosity properties over extended use and multiple thermal cycles — critical for competitive drivers who need to trust their suspension tuning lap after lap, race after race. The fluid works in conjunction with shock pistons and springs to absorb energy from bumps, jumps, and track imperfections, converting that energy into smooth, controlled suspension movement that keeps your RC car planted, responsive, and fast. The exclusive Lucas Oil formulation ensures that the fluid resists breakdown under the extreme pressures generated by high-speed driving, heavy landings, and aggressive track conditions, meaning your suspension will maintain its tuning characteristics throughout a full day of racing or bashing without degradation in performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity shock oil do I need for my Team Associated RC car? — The correct viscosity depends on your specific model, driving style, and track conditions. Team Associated provides detailed fluid charts (available from the manufacturer) that specify which weights work best for each vehicle platform. The 25Wt option is a popular middle-ground choice that many drivers use as their baseline, with heavier weights (30Wt, 35Wt) for smoother, more controlled handling and lighter weights (20Wt) for more responsive, sharper suspension feedback.
- Do I need to mix different shock oils together? — Not with the Team Associated half-weight options. By offering precise weights like 25Wt, you can adjust your suspension tuning without spending time blending oils, which is both inconvenient and inconsistent. Simply select the weight your setup calls for and use it straight from the bottle, ensuring every rebuild produces identical results.
- Will this shock oil work in all Team Associated vehicles? — This fluid is compatible with an extensive range of Team Associated models, including RC10, RC8, SC10, RC12R, TC7, B4, B5, B6, B7, T4, T5, T6, SC chassis, Apex, Apex2, Reflex, Rival, Element Enduro, and many more. Check the manufacturer's compatibility list or the detailed fluid chart to confirm your specific model, though if you own a modern Team Associated vehicle, this oil will almost certainly fit your requirements.
- What is 275cSt and why does it matter? — cSt stands for centistokes, a scientific measurement of fluid viscosity (thickness). The 275cSt measurement for 25Wt oil tells you precisely how the fluid will flow and dampen at standardised test temperatures, ensuring consistency between batches and allowing engineers to predict exactly how your suspension will behave, making it possible to compare results across different tuning sessions.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst experienced racers may want to experiment with multiple viscosity weights, beginners benefit enormously from this shock oil because it eliminates the complexity of mixing fluids. Simply use the weight specified in your vehicle's manual or the manufacturer's fluid chart, and you can be confident that your suspension tuning is correct and consistent.
- Can I use this in nitro RC cars or only electric? — This silicone shock oil is designed for use in shock absorbers across all types of Team Associated vehicles, whether they are powered by brushless electric motors, brushed electric motors, or nitro engines. The damping fluid itself is independent of the power source — it works purely on hydraulic principles.
- How long does a 2 fl. oz. bottle last? — One bottle typically provides fluid for multiple shock rebuilds, usually sufficient for 2-4 complete rebuild cycles depending on how much spillage occurs during maintenance. Most serious RC competitors keep multiple bottles on hand to ensure they never run short at an important race meeting.
- What makes Lucas Oil shock fluid better than generic alternatives? — Lucas Oil manufactures this fluid exclusively for Team Associated to precise specifications developed through decades of racing experience. The formulation is optimised for silicone-based performance, thermal stability, and consistency, meaning you get reliable damping that doesn't break down under the extreme conditions of competitive racing or intense bashing.
