Overview

The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 22.5Wt (238Cst) AS5424 is a precision damping fluid engineered for serious RC enthusiasts who demand consistent, reliable suspension performance. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products, this high-quality silicone shock oil represents the gold standard in RC suspension tuning. Whether you're running a competitive RC buggy, truck, or touring car from the Team Associated range, this half-weight grade shock oil gives you the granular control needed to dial in your suspension perfectly without the hassle of mixing different fluids together.

If you're serious about RC racing in the UK or simply want to fine-tune your Team Associated RC car for optimal track performance, this silicone shock fluid is an essential consumable that every RC enthusiast should keep in their pit box. The precision 22.5WT rating (238 centistokes) sits perfectly between common weight grades, allowing you to achieve the exact suspension response characteristics your setup needs. No more compromising with standard weights or wasting time blending oils—just open the bottle, fill your shocks, and enjoy improved handling characteristics that directly translate to better lap times and more enjoyable driving experiences.

This product is part of Team Associated's comprehensive half-weight shock oil range, specifically designed to provide racers with increased tuning flexibility. Whether you're competing in national championships, club races, or simply bashing at weekends, having access to half-weight grades means you can make precise adjustments to rebound and compression behaviour without major suspension modifications. It's this attention to detail that separates serious competitors from casual enthusiasts, and Team Associated's shock oil range exemplifies this philosophy perfectly.

Key Features

  • USA Manufacturing with Lucas Oil Excellence — This shock oil is manufactured in the United States exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products, one of the world's most respected names in lubricant technology. This partnership ensures you're getting a product engineered to the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  • Half-Weight Grade for Precision Tuning — The 22.5WT rating sits between standard weights, giving you finer tuning increments without the need to mix shock fluids together. This means you can achieve the exact viscosity your suspension needs for perfect handling in any track condition.
  • 238 Centistokes Viscosity Rating — The precise 238cSt rating provides consistent damping characteristics across a wide range of temperatures, ensuring your shocks perform reliably whether you're racing in winter conditions or summer heat across the UK.
  • Spill-Proof Seal Insert Design — The integrated seal insert prevents accidental spillage during transport and storage, protecting your RC car setup and keeping your pit area clean. This thoughtful design element shows Team Associated's understanding of real-world racing requirements.
  • Twist-to-Open Cap System — The convenient twist-open cap design makes refilling your shock absorbers quick and straightforward, allowing you to spend more time racing and less time fiddling with bottles and caps at the track.
  • 2 Fluid Ounces Capacity — The 2 fl. oz. bottle provides enough shock fluid for multiple refills, making it economical and convenient to keep as a backup in your pit kit.
  • Comprehensive Compatibility Range — This shock oil is compatible with an enormous range of Team Associated RC vehicles, from classic models like the RC10 through to modern championship-winning designs including the RC10B7, RC8B4, and entire Reflex range, plus specialist platforms like drift cars, rock crawlers, and monster trucks.

Technical Performance

The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 22.5Wt delivers exceptional damping performance through its carefully formulated silicone base fluid. At 238 centistokes, this viscosity rating provides the perfect balance between responsiveness and stability for RC applications. Silicone oils offer superior temperature stability compared to petroleum-based alternatives, meaning your suspension characteristics remain consistent whether you're racing in cold January conditions or hot summer months in the UK. The oil's molecular structure ensures consistent flow through the shock absorber's internal passages, providing smooth, predictable damping action that translates directly into improved vehicle control and handling predictability. This is why professional RC racers and Team Associated factory drivers choose precision shock oils—the suspension system is only as good as the fluid inside it. The 238cSt rating has been specifically engineered to work with Team Associated's shock designs, providing the ideal balance between compression and rebound damping. When combined with proper shock spring selection and setup adjustments, this fluid enables drivers to extract maximum performance from their vehicles across diverse racing conditions, from tight technical track layouts to faster flowing circuits. The American manufacturing ensures strict quality control throughout production, with each batch meeting Team Associated's exacting specifications for consistency and performance reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What makes half-weight shock oils better than standard weights for RC tuning? — Half-weight oils like this 22.5WT provide finer tuning increments between full weights, allowing drivers to dial in suspension characteristics more precisely. Rather than jumping between 20WT and 25WT, you can use 22.5WT to hit the exact sweet spot your setup needs. This is particularly valuable when chasing lap-time improvements in competitive RC racing, where small adjustments often yield measurable differences in track performance.
  • Do I need to mix shock oils, or can I use this 22.5WT directly from the bottle? — One of the primary benefits of this product is that it comes pre-formulated to exactly 238 centistokes viscosity, eliminating the need for mixing. Simply open the bottle and fill your shocks—no calculation, no measuring, no risk of getting the ratio wrong. This saves time, reduces waste, and guarantees consistent viscosity every single time.
  • Is this suitable for beginners and casual RC enthusiasts? — Yes, absolutely. While half-weight oils are particularly valuable for competitive racers fine-tuning their setups, any RC enthusiast with a Team Associated vehicle can benefit from using quality shock fluid. Even casual bashers will notice improved suspension responsiveness and more predictable handling with premium silicone shock oil compared to cheaper alternatives.
  • What is the difference between 22.5WT and other common weight grades? — Weight ratings indicate viscosity—how thick the fluid is. Higher numbers mean thicker, more damping. Thicker oils slow down suspension movement, providing more stability but potentially less responsiveness. The 22.5WT sits perfectly between 20WT and 25WT, allowing you to choose exactly the damping level your specific setup and driving style requires without compromises.
  • How long does a 2 fl. oz. bottle last? — This depends on how frequently you refill your shocks and the number of shocks you're servicing. Most RC cars require approximately 15-20 ml per shock, so a 2 fl. oz. (approximately 59 ml) bottle typically provides 2-3 complete refills for a standard four-shock setup. Keep multiple bottles on hand for track days and intensive testing sessions.
  • Is silicone shock oil better than petroleum-based alternatives? — Silicone oils like this Team Associated product offer superior temperature stability and consistency, meaning your damping characteristics remain reliable across varying weather conditions. Silicone also provides better protection for internal shock seals and is less prone to breaking down under the thermal stress of racing. Professional racers universally prefer silicone-based shock fluids for these reasons.
  • Will this work in my vintage Team Associated RC10? — Yes, this fluid is compatible with classic Team Associated models including the iconic RC10, making it perfect for collectors and enthusiasts who maintain vintage equipment alongside modern cars. Silicone shock oil actually extends the service life of older shock components by providing superior lubrication and protection.
