Overview
The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 20Wt (200cSt) AS5421 is a premium suspension fluid designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand precision tuning and consistent performance from their shock absorbers. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., this 20-weight silicone shock oil represents the gold standard in suspension care for competitive and recreational RC car UK builds. Whether you're running an RC buggy, truggy, or off-road truck, this fluid plays a crucial role in delivering the precise damping characteristics your vehicle needs to excel on track or trail.
This silicone shock fluid is engineered specifically for RC shock absorbers where consistent, repeatable handling is absolutely essential. The 20WT viscosity provides a half-weight step that allows you to fine-tune pack and rebound characteristics without the tedious process of mixing different fluids together. Simply select the exact weight you need, and you'll get predictable, repeatable results every single time you take your RC car out to the track. For competitive racers and serious hobbyists running Team Associated vehicles—from the RC10 classics to the latest Apex2, Enduro, and Reflex models—this is the suspension fluid you need in your pit box.
What sets the Team Associated Pro Silicone Shock Oil apart is its versatility and precision. Rather than being forced to mix 15WT and 25WT fluids to achieve a 20WT setting, you can now purchase the exact weight you need and maintain consistency across multiple vehicles or multiple shock adjustments. This eliminates waste, saves money, and most importantly, removes variables that could affect your vehicle's handling characteristics. The included seal insert means spill-proof travel, and the convenient twist-open cap makes refilling your shocks quick and mess-free in the workshop or at the track.
Key Features
- Half-Weight Viscosity Step — This 20WT fluid provides the precise intermediate viscosity that eliminates the need to mix 15WT and 25WT fluids together, giving you exact, repeatable damping characteristics without blending oils and risking inconsistent results.
- 200cSt Specification — The 200 centistoke rating provides the technical precision needed for serious tuning, ensuring that your suspension adjustments translate directly into predictable handling changes on track.
- Made in the USA by Lucas Oil — Manufactured exclusively for Team Associated by industry-leading Lucas Oil Products Inc., ensuring premium quality, consistency, and reliability across every bottle.
- Spill-Proof Seal Insert — The integrated seal insert design prevents accidental spills during transport to the track or while storing your shock oil collection, keeping your workshop or RC kit bag clean and organised.
- Easy Twist-Open Cap — The convenient twist-cap design allows quick and easy access when refilling your shocks, saving valuable time during pit adjustments and tuning sessions.
- 2 fl. oz. Bottle — The generous 2 fluid ounce capacity provides enough shock oil for multiple fills or complete shock servicing across several vehicles in your RC car collection.
- Compatible with Extensive Team Associated Range — This fluid works with virtually every modern Team Associated RC vehicle, from competition buggies and truggies to trail trucks and stadium racing platforms, making it an essential part of any Associated owner's maintenance kit.
- No More Fluid Mixing — Eliminate the guesswork and potential for error by selecting the exact weight you need from Team Associated's comprehensive half-weight range, ensuring your suspension performs identically from one session to the next.
Technical Performance
The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 20Wt represents the convergence of precision engineering and practical usability. At 200 centistokes, this fluid sits at the exact midpoint between lighter 15WT and heavier 25WT options, providing the technical foundation for sophisticated suspension tuning. Silicone-based formulations like this are specifically chosen for RC shock applications because they maintain consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, ensuring that your suspension adjustments remain stable whether you're racing in cool morning conditions or battling hot midday heat. The fluid's molecular structure resists breakdown under the rapid compression and extension cycles that occur during aggressive RC driving, meaning your shocks will perform predictably lap after lap, session after session. The manufacturing partnership between Team Associated and Lucas Oil—an organisation with decades of motorsport and automotive fluid expertise—ensures that every batch meets strict quality controls. The seal insert technology prevents the common problem of fluid leakage during transport or storage, whilst the twist-open cap design minimises air exposure, helping preserve the fluid's properties over time. For serious RC enthusiasts in the UK and beyond who understand that suspension tuning is the foundation of vehicle performance, this fluid represents an investment in consistency, reliability, and lap-time improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity weight should I use in my RC car shocks? — The correct viscosity depends on your track surface, driving style, and vehicle setup. Lighter fluids (15WT and below) provide softer damping and faster response, suited to smooth tracks and aggressive driving. Heavier fluids (25WT and above) provide firmer damping, better for bumpy tracks or high-speed stability. The 20WT sits perfectly in the middle, making it an excellent starting point for most applications. Many racers use 20WT as their baseline and adjust up or down depending on track conditions.
- Why would I buy half-weight fluids instead of mixing my own? — Mixing fluids introduces several problems: inconsistency between batches, difficulty achieving exact ratios, waste, and time consumption. By purchasing pre-mixed half-weight fluids like this 20WT option, you eliminate all these variables. You know exactly what you're getting every time, your results are repeatable, and you can make changes with confidence that you're only changing the one variable you intended to adjust.
- Is this suitable for all Team Associated vehicles? — This 20WT fluid is compatible with a vast range of Team Associated models, including the RC10 series, RC8 series, SC10 short course trucks, RC12R racing buggies, TC7 touring cars, and the entire modern Apex2, Enduro, Reflex, and Rival ranges. If you own any contemporary Team Associated vehicle with shock absorbers, this fluid will work in your setup.
- How often should I change my shock oil? — For competitive racers running weekly, change shock oil every 2-3 months or 30-40 hours of running time. For recreational bashers and weekend track visitors, annual changes or seasonal refreshes are typically sufficient. If you notice your shocks becoming less responsive or if the fluid appears discoloured, it's time for a change. Always use fresh fluid when switching to a new track or major tuning session to ensure consistency.
- Can I mix different weights of Team Associated shock oil together? — Technically you can, but it defeats the purpose of having pre-mixed half-weight options available. If you need a different viscosity, it's better to drain the old fluid completely and refill with the new weight you've selected, ensuring full consistency and predictable performance.
- What is the difference between silicone and other shock oil types? — Silicone fluids are the standard for RC shock absorbers because they maintain consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, resist oxidation and breakdown, and provide superior damping stability compared to mineral oils. They're specifically formulated for the high-frequency compression cycles that shocks experience during RC driving, making them essential for precise tuning and reliable performance.
