Overview

The Team Associated Silicone Shock Oil 10Wt (100cSt) AS5420 is a professional-grade suspension fluid designed for RC car enthusiasts who demand precision and reliability in their shock damping. Made in the USA exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., this silicone shock oil represents the gold standard for suspension tuning across the full range of Team Associated RC vehicles. Whether you're running a competitive 1/10 scale buggy, a short course truck, or any of the dozens of Team Associated models in the RC car UK market, this 10-weight formulation delivers the consistent, predictable damping characteristics that serious racers rely on.

This half-weight silicone shock fluid eliminates the frustration of mixing different viscosities to achieve your target damping rate. Available as a ready-to-use 10Wt grade, it provides the exact viscosity you need every time, making suspension setup faster and more repeatable. If you're a weekend basher or a dedicated competition racer, having the right shock oil is fundamental to getting the best handling characteristics from your RC model. The 10-weight specification sits in the perfect middle ground for most popular Team Associated platforms, offering balanced damping that works across a wide range of track conditions and driving styles.

RC enthusiasts across the UK trust this fluid because it's engineered with the same precision that goes into every Team Associated chassis. The proprietary Lucas Oil formulation ensures consistent viscosity across temperature ranges, which means your shocks perform the same whether you're running on a hot summer afternoon or during cooler spring racing sessions. This reliability is what separates quality suspension fluid from budget alternatives.

Key Features

  • Half-Weight Formula — This innovative formulation removes the need to mix different shock fluids to achieve your target viscosity, saving time during setup and ensuring you get precisely the weight you need every time without calculation errors or inconsistent mixing ratios.
  • Made in the USA — Manufactured exclusively for Team Associated by Lucas Oil Products Inc., a company with a legendary reputation for quality lubricants, guaranteeing that you're using fluid engineered to exacting standards by oil specialists rather than generic alternatives.
  • Consistent Viscosity Rating — The 10Wt (100cSt) specification delivers reliable, predictable damping performance, giving you confidence that your shock setup will remain stable across multiple sessions and varying track conditions without unexpected changes in handling characteristics.
  • Spill-Proof Design — The seal insert means spill-proof travel, so you can transport your RC car kit and shock fluid to races, clubs, and track days without worrying about leaks in your bag or vehicle, keeping everything clean and your fluid quantity consistent.
  • Twist-to-Open Cap — The user-friendly twist cap design makes it easy to access the fluid when you need it and close it securely afterwards, preventing accidental spills during transportation and storage at your RC club or home workshop.
  • 2 fl. oz. Bottle Size — Each bottle contains a practical 2 fluid ounce quantity, which is the standard service size for shock reservoir refilling and adjustment, allowing you to fine-tune your suspension without purchasing excessive quantities.
  • Trusted for Multiple Platforms — This fluid is the factory choice for over 100 different Team Associated RC models, from buggy racers to monster trucks to crawler platforms, proving its versatility and reliability across diverse RC vehicle designs.

Technical Performance

The 10Wt (100cSt) silicone shock oil from Team Associated delivers the consistent viscosity that serious RC racers depend on for predictable suspension behaviour. Silicone-based formulations offer superior temperature stability compared to petroleum-based alternatives, meaning the damping characteristics remain consistent whether you're racing during early morning cool conditions or afternoon heat. The 100 centistoke (cSt) viscosity rating at 40°C provides the perfect balance for 1/10 scale RC cars, offering sufficient resistance to prevent bottoming out on large impacts while maintaining responsive suspension movement for mid-range bumps and track surface irregularities. This weight sits between the lighter formulations used on slick track conditions and heavier oils used for bumpy or high-speed circuits, making it ideal for general-purpose racing and bashing. The Lucas Oil formulation has been engineered specifically for Team Associated shock designs, ensuring compatibility with all modern Team Associated damper units. The proprietary additives in this fluid help maintain consistent performance across extended use, preventing the viscosity breakdown that can occur with inferior shock oils. For RC enthusiasts who understand that suspension setup is critical to overall vehicle performance, this fluid represents an investment in repeatability and competitive advantage.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What weight shock oil do I need for my Team Associated RC car? — The weight you choose depends on your specific track conditions, driving style, and the particular Team Associated model you're running. Most stock setups use 10Wt as a baseline, but softer tracks or lighter cars may benefit from 7Wt, whilst bumpy tracks or heavier setups might prefer 12Wt or 15Wt. This 10Wt option is the most versatile starting point for most UK RC racers.
  • Why shouldn't I mix different viscosity shock fluids? — Mixing different weights is unreliable because achieving the exact ratio consistently is difficult, and different brands may have slightly different viscosity characteristics even at the same weight rating. Using a single, ready-mixed weight ensures repeatability, which is essential when you're trying to diagnose how setup changes affect handling rather than blaming inconsistent fluid composition.
  • Can I use this shock oil in all my Team Associated vehicles? — Yes, this 10Wt fluid is compatible with over 100 different Team Associated models, including the RC8B series, RC10B series, TC7 series, SC10 series, Reflex series, DR10, SR10, and many others. Check the manufacturer compatibility list, but this weight is the factory standard for most modern Team Associated chassis.
  • Does temperature affect shock fluid performance? — Yes, which is why silicone-based formulations like this one are superior to petroleum oils — they maintain more consistent viscosity across temperature ranges. However, if you're racing in significantly different weather conditions, you may want to slightly adjust your weight. This 10Wt fluid performs well across typical UK racing temperatures.
  • How often should I change my shock fluid? — During active racing season, most competitors change their shock oil every 5-10 hours of running or every few months, as the fluid can accumulate dust and lose effectiveness over time. If you're just bashing casually, annual changes are usually sufficient.
  • Why is Team Associated fluid better than generic alternatives? — Team Associated fluid is engineered specifically for Team Associated shock designs by Lucas Oil Products Inc., a company specialising in lubricant formulation. This means the viscosity curve, thermal stability, and additives are optimised for how Team Associated shocks actually perform, rather than being a one-size-fits-all product.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is actually an ideal choice for beginners because you don't need to worry about mixing fluids or calculating ratios — you simply buy the pre-mixed 10Wt grade and use it straight from the bottle. Beginners can focus on learning how to adjust shock ride height and spring preload rather than getting confused by fluid mixing.
