Overview

The Associated CR12 Shock Rod Ends (AS41022) are precision replacement components designed for RC enthusiasts maintaining their Team Associated CR12 platform. These rod ends serve as critical linkage points within your shock assembly, and having quality replacements on hand is essential for any serious RC car UK hobbyist. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or someone building their first RC car, understanding the importance of suspension maintenance will help you keep your model running smoothly for years to come.

Suspension systems are the foundation of any RC vehicle's performance, and the shock assembly is where all the magic happens. The rod ends that connect these shocks to the chassis are subject to constant stress, vibration, and impact forces during operation. Over time, these components can wear, bend, or crack, leading to poor handling characteristics, unpredictable suspension response, and ultimately compromised lap times or driving enjoyment. The Associated CR12 Shock Rod Ends AS41022 provide an authentic OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) replacement solution, ensuring your suspension linkage maintains the exact geometry and performance characteristics that Associated engineered into the CR12 platform.

For those investing in a quality ready to run RC buggy or race kit, maintaining original equipment parts like these shock rod ends is far more cost-effective than replacing entire shock assemblies or dealing with damaged chassis components down the line. RC Model Shop stocks this essential spare as part of our comprehensive range of Associated CR12 spares and upgrades, making it easy for UK-based hobbyists to source genuine parts with confidence and reliability.

Key Features

  • Genuine Associated OEM Part — These shock rod ends are manufactured by Team Associated, the original equipment maker of the CR12, ensuring perfect fitment, durability, and performance characteristics exactly as designed by the engineers who created your vehicle.
  • Precision Suspension Linkage — The rod ends are critical connection points within your shock assembly, directly affecting how your suspension responds to bumps, corners, and landing impacts; quality replacement rod ends restore this precision and maintain consistent handling.
  • Essential Maintenance Component — Regular wear and tear on suspension components is inevitable in RC racing and bashing; having replacement rod ends available means you can quickly refresh your suspension without waiting for complete shock replacements or extended downtime.
  • Compatible with CR12 Suspension Systems — Specifically designed for the Associated CR12 platform, these rod ends integrate seamlessly with all CR12 shock assemblies, maintaining the exact geometry and performance envelope of your original setup.
  • Cost-Effective Spare Parts Solution — Rather than replacing entire shock assemblies when rod ends wear out, this targeted replacement part allows you to refresh the linkage points affordably, extending the life of your complete suspension system.
  • Reliable Stock Availability — As an authorised Associated dealer, RC Model Shop maintains regular stock of this essential service item, meaning you can reorder quickly without extended waiting periods that might interrupt your racing schedule or weekend sessions.

Technical Performance

The Associated CR12 Shock Rod Ends AS41022 represent the precision engineering standard that Team Associated is recognised for throughout the RC racing world. These components are manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring that the connection points between your shock assembly and chassis maintain perfect alignment and movement characteristics. The rod ends function as pivot points within the suspension linkage, translating the vertical movement of your shocks into controlled suspension geometry changes that directly affect your vehicle's handling balance, traction, and overall performance. When these components wear or become damaged, the precision of this system degrades, leading to loose or unpredictable suspension behaviour. By replacing worn rod ends with genuine Associated components, you restore the original design specifications and ensure your suspension system functions exactly as the engineers at Team Associated intended. This attention to suspension detail is what separates competitive ready to run RC cars from inferior models, and it's why serious racers and enthusiasts in the UK choose to maintain their vehicles with genuine OEM parts rather than aftermarket alternatives. The material composition and manufacturing process used in these rod ends ensures they can withstand the constant stress cycles experienced during aggressive driving, jumps, and racing conditions without premature failure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are shock rod ends and why do I need replacements? — Shock rod ends are small but critical components that serve as connection points between your shock assembly and the chassis. They allow the shock to move freely while maintaining precise alignment. During aggressive driving, racing, and jumping, these components experience constant stress and can wear, bend, or crack over time. Replacing them maintains your suspension's performance and handling characteristics.
  • Are these compatible with my Associated CR12? — Yes, the AS41022 shock rod ends are specifically designed and manufactured by Team Associated for CR12 shock assemblies. They are genuine OEM parts that integrate seamlessly with all CR12 suspension systems without modification.
  • How often should I replace my shock rod ends? — The lifespan of shock rod ends depends on your driving style and frequency. Racers who compete regularly or aggressive bashers may need replacements every few months, whilst casual drivers might go a year or longer. Inspect your rod ends regularly for wear, damage, or loose movement, and replace them when you notice any degradation in suspension feel or handling.
  • Can I use aftermarket rod ends instead of genuine Associated parts? — Whilst aftermarket alternatives may be cheaper, genuine Associated OEM parts are engineered and tested specifically for the CR12 platform, ensuring perfect fitment and performance. Using original parts maintains your vehicle's design specifications and resale value, making them the better long-term investment for serious RC enthusiasts.
  • What tools do I need to replace my shock rod ends? — Shock rod end replacement is a relatively straightforward maintenance task that typically requires basic RC tools like hex drivers, Allen keys, and possibly a small wrench. The exact tools needed depend on how your shock assembly is configured, but most users can complete the job with standard RC car maintenance tools.
  • Is this a complete shock assembly or just replacement rod ends? — The AS41022 is a replacement rod end component only, not a complete shock assembly. It's designed to refresh the linkage points on your existing CR12 shocks without requiring you to purchase entire new shock units.
