Overview

The Associated CR12 Shock Shafts (AS41021) are genuine replacement suspension components engineered for the Associated CR12 platform and compatible mini crawler models. Whether you're rebuilding your shocks after heavy use or simply performing routine maintenance on your RC car in the UK, these precision-manufactured shafts are essential spares that help keep your suspension performing at its best. If you're looking to restore your CR12's damping performance or extend the life of your oil-filled shocks, these replacement shafts offer a straightforward and cost-effective solution to maintain the smooth, consistent feel your mini crawler demands.

Built to the original Associated specification, these shock shafts are manufactured with the same quality standards as the factory components, ensuring they integrate seamlessly with your existing CR12 suspension setup. A straight, smooth shaft is fundamental to proper damping consistency and seal life in oil-filled shocks, making these parts an essential upgrade or replacement option for anyone serious about maintaining their RC car's performance. Whether you're a weekend basher or a dedicated crawler enthusiast, having quality replacement shock shafts on hand means you can quickly get back on the track without compromising on handling or durability.

For RC hobbyists across the UK, the CR12 platform represents a popular choice for mini crawler enthusiasts, and keeping your suspension in peak condition requires regular maintenance and genuine replacement parts. These shock shafts are designed to work in harmony with clean components and appropriate shock oil, as outlined in your vehicle manual, to deliver the responsive, consistent feel that makes crawling and bashing so rewarding. The AS41021 part number ensures easy identification and hassle-free ordering whenever you need replacements.

Key Features

  • Genuine Associated Components — Manufactured to the original specification and part of the official CR12 spare parts range, these shock shafts ensure complete compatibility and optimal performance with your suspension setup. Using genuine parts rather than aftermarket alternatives guarantees consistent damping performance and proper seal alignment within your shocks.
  • Precision-Engineered Straightness — Each shaft is manufactured to exacting tolerances to maintain a perfectly straight profile, which is critical for consistent damping and preventing seal wear. Even minor bends in a shock shaft can cause uneven pressure distribution and accelerate seal failure, so precision manufacturing is essential for reliable performance.
  • Oil-Filled Shock Compatibility — These shafts are specifically designed for use in oil-filled shock absorbers, where they interact directly with damping fluid and precision seals. The smooth surface finish minimises friction and drag, helping your suspension respond smoothly to terrain changes and maintain consistent damping characteristics throughout a race or bash session.
  • Ideal for Shock Rebuilds — When you rebuild your CR12 shocks with fresh oil and clean components, new shafts help restore the suspension to like-new performance. Worn or bent shafts can compromise seal integrity and damping consistency, so replacing them during rebuilds is a best practice that extends shock life and improves handling.
  • Routine Maintenance Solution — After heavy use, impacts, or extended running sessions, shock shafts can develop microscopic damage or slight bends that affect performance. These replacement shafts provide a straightforward way to refresh your suspension feel and keep your RC car handling predictably on the track or off-road.
  • Easy Parts Identification — Marked with part number AS41021, these shafts are instantly identifiable and compatible with the Associated CR12 range, making it simple to order the correct replacement parts whether you're shopping online or visiting an RC retailer in the UK.

Technical Performance

The Associated CR12 Shock Shafts represent the engineering excellence that Associated applies to its entire suspension product range. Manufactured from premium materials with precision machining, each shaft is engineered to maintain perfect straightness and a smooth surface finish that minimises friction within your shock absorbers. The critical interaction between the shaft, damping oil, and precision seals means that any deviation from specifications can result in inconsistent damping, noise, or accelerated wear. That's why these genuine shafts are so important — they're manufactured to the exact tolerances required for optimal performance in oil-filled shock systems. The smooth profile ensures clean movement through the shock cylinder, allowing damping fluid to flow uniformly and seals to maintain consistent contact pressure. For the RC enthusiast in the UK who takes their crawling or bashing seriously, maintaining your suspension with quality components like these shafts directly translates to more responsive handling, better traction control, and a more predictable driving experience. Whether you're running through rock crawls, navigating technical terrain, or simply enjoying casual weekend bashing, having fresh shock shafts installed means your suspension will respond consistently to every bump, dip, and obstacle you encounter.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will these shock shafts fit my Associated CR12? — Yes, these shafts are manufactured as genuine associated components specifically designed for the CR12 platform and are compatible with all CR12 series models. The AS41021 part number is the official replacement shaft for this range, ensuring perfect fitment and performance.
  • When should I replace my shock shafts? — You should consider replacing shock shafts if you notice inconsistent damping, excessive noise from your shocks, or if you're performing a routine suspension rebuild. After heavy use or impacts, even if the shaft appears straight to the eye, microscopic damage can compromise seal integrity and damping consistency, so replacing shafts during rebuilds is a best practice for maintaining peak performance.
  • What is the difference between genuine Associated shafts and aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine Associated shafts are manufactured to the exact specifications and tolerances required for your CR12, ensuring perfect compatibility with suspension seals and damping systems. Aftermarket shafts may vary in material quality, straightness tolerance, and surface finish, which can result in uneven damping, seal wear, or inconsistent handling. Investing in genuine parts protects your suspension investment and ensures reliable performance.
  • Do I need special tools to install these shock shafts? — Installing shock shafts requires basic tools and familiarity with shock assembly, as outlined in your Associated CR12 vehicle manual. You'll need to disassemble your shocks carefully, remove the worn shaft, clean the shock cylinder thoroughly, install the new shaft, and reassemble with fresh shock oil. If you're unfamiliar with shock work, consult your manual or contact an experienced RC technician for guidance.
  • What shock oil should I use with these shafts? — Associated recommends using shock oil appropriate to your CR12 platform and driving style, as detailed in your vehicle manual. Your local RC Model Shop team can advise on viscosity and type for your specific setup and terrain. Using quality shock oil that matches your manual's specifications ensures optimal damping performance and shock longevity.
  • Are these shafts suitable for beginner RC enthusiasts? — These are replacement parts intended for users who already own an Associated CR12 and are comfortable performing basic suspension maintenance. If you're new to shock work, these shafts are perfect for learning, but take time to study your manual and consider having an experienced RC friend help guide your first rebuild. The basics of shock maintenance are fundamental skills for any RC car owner who wants to keep their vehicle in peak condition.
