Overview
The Spektrum 1404-3200Kv 12-Pole Brushless Outrunner Motor is a compact, high-performance brushless motor designed for small to medium-scale RC applications. Whether you're building a brushless RC car, drone, or other electric-powered model, this motor delivers reliable performance and exceptional value. With its 3200Kv rating, this brushless outrunner motor is ideal for builders seeking a lightweight, efficient power solution that won't break the bank. The 12-pole configuration provides smooth, consistent power delivery and is recognised as an excellent choice for both newcomers exploring brushless RC technology and experienced builders looking for a budget-friendly upgrade option.
As a brushless outrunner motor, this unit offers several advantages over traditional brushed alternatives. Brushless motors are known for their efficiency, longevity and lower maintenance requirements—there are no brushes to wear out, meaning your motor will last considerably longer under regular use. The outrunner design, where the bell rotates around a stationary stator, is particularly popular in RC hobbies because it provides excellent torque characteristics and works well with direct-drive or geared applications. This makes the SPM 1404-3200Kv an excellent foundation for building custom RC cars, lightweight aircraft, or other RC projects across the UK hobby market.
Spektrum, a recognised leader in RC electronics and accessories, has engineered this motor to deliver consistent performance at an affordable price point. The 1404-3200Kv motor comes complete with mounting hardware, making it easy to integrate into your RC build. Whether you're a weekend basher experimenting with brushless power for the first time or an experienced modeller looking to refresh your spare parts collection, this motor represents genuine quality and value in the competitive brushless RC motor marketplace.
Key Features
- 3200Kv Rating — The 3200Kv specification means this motor will rotate approximately 3200 revolutions per minute for every volt of battery input, making it ideal for high-speed applications and lightweight builds where rapid acceleration and top-end performance are priorities.
- 12-Pole Brushless Design — The 12-pole configuration balances efficiency and power delivery, providing smoother operation than fewer-pole motors whilst maintaining excellent responsiveness and acceleration characteristics that RC enthusiasts demand.
- Brushless Outrunner Configuration — Brushless technology eliminates carbon brush wear and extends motor life dramatically compared to brushed alternatives, whilst the outrunner design delivers superior torque and works seamlessly with both direct-drive and geared RC setups.
- Compact 1404 Size — The 1404 motor dimension classification indicates a compact footprint, making this brushless outrunner ideal for space-constrained RC builds where weight and size are critical factors in overall performance and handling.
- Included Mounting Hardware — Four M2 x 5mm mounting screws are included in the box, allowing you to integrate this motor directly into your RC project without sourcing additional fasteners, saving time and ensuring proper fitment.
- Spektrum Quality and Support — As an official Spektrum product, this motor benefits from the brand's reputation for reliability and is backed by the comprehensive support network that serious RC hobbyists in the UK have come to trust.
Technical Performance
The Spektrum 1404-3200Kv 12-Pole Brushless Outrunner Motor represents a thoughtful engineering solution for builders seeking efficient, lightweight power delivery. The brushless construction eliminates the friction and maintenance demands of traditional brushed motors, delivering cleaner power that translates directly to improved flight times or runtime in RC cars and other applications. The 12-pole design creates a sweet spot between efficiency and response time, generating smooth torque curves that respond well to throttle input whilst maintaining good power consistency across the entire RPM range. The outrunner configuration means the rotating bell carries momentum smoothly, which is particularly valuable in precision applications where vibration needs to be minimised. The 1404 size classification positions this motor as a lightweight solution suitable for small-scale RC cars, parkflyer aircraft, micro helicopters and other applications where battery life and compact dimensions matter significantly. The 3200Kv rating is high enough to deliver impressive top-end speed, particularly when paired with lower-capacity LiPo batteries commonly used in UK RC hobby builds, yet maintains adequate torque for responsive control. Build quality is consistent with Spektrum's reputation, featuring precision-wound stator coils and quality bearing surfaces that support reliable long-term operation. The motor's efficiency means less energy is wasted as heat, resulting in longer runtime and reduced thermal stress on both the motor and your battery pack—a particularly important consideration for RC aircraft and high-performance RC car applications where every second of flight or run time counts.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the Spektrum 1404-3200Kv motor suitable for? — This 12-pole brushless outrunner motor is designed for small to medium-scale RC applications including lightweight RC cars, parkflyer aircraft, micro helicopters and custom RC builds where high speed and efficiency are desired. The 3200Kv rating makes it particularly well-suited for high-speed applications where rapid acceleration is valued. The compact 1404 size means it fits naturally into space-constrained RC projects where weight saving is a priority.
- Is the 1404-3200Kv suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. Whilst brushless motors represent a step up in complexity compared to brushed motors, this Spektrum motor is an excellent educational tool for anyone wishing to explore brushless RC technology without excessive cost. The included mounting screws make installation straightforward, and the Spektrum brand carries reliable support resources. Beginners should note that a suitable brushless ESC (electronic speed controller) and LiPo battery will be required to operate this motor.
- What battery does this motor need? — The source documentation does not specify exact battery requirements, however the 3200Kv rating suggests compatibility with typical LiPo configurations used in UK RC hobby builds. We recommend consulting with our expert team at RC Model Shop to match this motor with an appropriate battery voltage and capacity based on your specific RC application, as battery selection significantly impacts performance, runtime and safety.
- What ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) will I need? — You will require a brushless ESC rated for appropriate current capacity. The exact ESC recommendation depends on your specific build, battery voltage and intended use. Our experienced team at RC Model Shop can advise on suitable ESC options to pair with this motor for your particular RC project.
- How does the 12-pole configuration benefit my RC performance? — Twelve poles create a balance between motor efficiency and response characteristics. The 12-pole design generates smoother power delivery with less vibration than lower-pole-count motors, whilst maintaining excellent throttle response. This makes it particularly valuable in precision RC applications where smooth, controllable acceleration matters.
- What makes brushless motors better than brushed alternatives? — Brushless motors eliminate carbon brush wear, requiring significantly less maintenance and delivering longer service life. They are more efficient, converting more electrical energy into mechanical motion, which translates to longer runtime and less wasted heat. Brushless motors are also quieter and generate cleaner electrical signals, making them ideal for modern RC builds.
