Overview

The ARRMA Shock Spring Set E in 0.50N/mm (3.14lb/in) is an essential upgrade for owners of 1/16 scale GROM monster trucks who want to fine-tune their vehicle's handling characteristics quickly and easily. These high-quality shock springs from ARRMA are precision-engineered to deliver consistent performance and allow you to adapt your RC car UK setup to different terrain types, weather conditions and driving styles. Whether you're bashingon tarmac, grass or dirt, or racing competitively, having a range of spring rates at your disposal is crucial for getting the best out of your RC monster truck and maximising both speed and control.

Spring tuning is one of the most effective and cost-efficient ways to improve your ready to run RC monster truck's performance without requiring mechanical expertise or complex tools. By swapping out your suspension springs, you can instantly adjust how your vehicle sits, how it responds to bumps and jumps, and how it handles during cornering. The ARRMA Shock Spring Set E offers a specific spring rate that works perfectly with GROM models, giving you an authentic OEM-quality solution from the manufacturer who engineered your truck from the ground up.

This set includes four springs—enough to replace all four shocks on your 1/16 scale GROM, whether you're running a GORGON GROM or QUAKE GROM variant. The bright green colour makes identification easy in your spares box, and the consistent manufacturing quality means you'll get predictable, balanced handling across all four corners of your RC car. For anyone serious about getting the most from their ARRMA RC truck, having spare spring sets at different rates is a fundamental part of proper vehicle tuning and maintenance.

Key Features

  • Precise Spring Rate — At 0.50N/mm (equivalent to 3.14lb/in), these springs are specifically engineered for 1/16 scale GROM monster trucks, ensuring your suspension geometry and ride height remain perfectly calibrated for optimal handling and performance across varying terrain and track conditions.
  • Complete Set of Four Springs — This pack contains four individual shock springs, providing enough spares to fully equip all four corners of your GROM or to keep backups when you need to experiment with different spring rates for tuning purposes.
  • Easy Installation — Shock spring replacement is one of the quickest and most straightforward suspension tuning modifications you can make, taking just minutes with basic tools and requiring no specialist knowledge, making this perfect for all skill levels from beginners to experienced racers.
  • OEM Quality Manufacturing — These are genuine ARRMA parts manufactured to the same exacting standards as the components fitted to your ready to run RC monster truck, guaranteeing compatibility, durability and consistent performance.
  • Bright Green Identification — The distinctive green colour makes these springs instantly recognisable in your spares collection, allowing you to quickly identify and select the correct spring rate when tuning your vehicle between runs or races.
  • Compatible with Multiple GROM Variants — Whether you own a GORGON GROM in yellow, bronze or red, or a QUAKE GROM in purple, green or red, these springs are engineered to work perfectly with any 1/16 scale GROM 4WD brushed monster truck from ARRMA's current range.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Shock Spring Set E represents precision engineering at 1/16 scale, with each spring manufactured to deliver consistent spring force of 0.50N/mm throughout its compression and extension cycles. This specific rate has been chosen by ARRMA engineers to complement the suspension geometry, anti-roll bar setup, and overall chassis design of the GROM platform, ensuring that when installed, your truck maintains the correct ride height and responds predictably to bumps, jumps and cornering forces. The springs work in conjunction with the shock absorber dampers to control suspension movement—the spring rate determines how resistant the suspension is to compression, while the shock oil viscosity controls how quickly the suspension extends back to its natural length. A 0.50N/mm spring is considered a softer rate compared to higher-rated springs, meaning your GROM's suspension will be more compliant over rough terrain, providing better grip and comfort but potentially allowing more body roll during aggressive cornering. For those racing on bumpy outdoor tracks, this softer spring rate is ideal as it maximises ground contact and absorbs impacts effectively. The manufacturing quality ensures that all four springs in this set have identical rates and characteristics, which is essential for balanced handling—if one spring is significantly different from the others, your truck will pull to one side or feel unstable. By fitting a matched set of four springs, you eliminate variables and create a true baseline for tuning your RC car UK setup.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will these shock springs fit my ARRMA GROM RC monster truck? — Yes, these springs are designed specifically for 1/16 scale GROM models and are confirmed compatible with the GORGON GROM 4X4 RTR (available in yellow, bronze and red variants) and the QUAKE GROM 4X4 RTR (available in purple, green and red variants). Always check your specific model number matches one of the compatible part numbers listed to ensure correct fitment.
  • What does 0.50N/mm mean and how does spring rate affect my RC car's performance? — The 0.50N/mm measurement refers to the spring rate, which determines how stiff or soft the spring is. A lower number like 0.50N/mm means the spring is relatively soft and compresses easily, providing a smoother ride over bumpy terrain and better grip because the tyre stays in contact with the ground more consistently. If you find your truck is bottoming out (hitting the end of suspension travel) or feeling too bouncy, you might try a stiffer spring rate; if it feels too stiff and skips over bumps, a softer rate helps. The 0.50N/mm (3.14lb/in) rate is ideal for outdoor bashing and recreational driving.
  • How often should I replace these shock springs? — Springs don't wear out in the traditional sense, but they can lose their temper (become permanently deformed and lose their spring rate) through repeated hard impacts, corrosion from moisture, or age. For recreational bashers, springs last many seasons; for competitive racers running frequently, checking springs every few months is sensible practice. You'll notice performance degradation if a spring has weakened—the truck will sit lower or feel less responsive.
  • Do I need tools to install these shock springs? — Installation varies depending on your shock design, but generally you'll need a small tool to compress the spring enough to remove the old one and install the new one. Some shocks have a spring clip or retaining nut; others use a different mechanism. Consult your GROM manual for specific installation instructions, or watch an online tutorial for your model. The process typically takes just a few minutes per shock.
  • Can I mix different spring rates on my RC monster truck? — Technically you can, but it's not recommended for balanced handling. Mixing spring rates front-to-rear (softer front, stiffer rear, for example) is an advanced tuning technique used by racers to adjust handling bias, but mixing left-to-right will cause the truck to pull to one side. For beginners, always use matched sets of springs on each side of the truck.
  • What is the difference between ARRMA shock spring sets at different N/mm ratings? — ARRMA produces shock spring sets at various rates (typically ranging from softer springs like 0.50N/mm up to stiffer options). A lower N/mm number is softer and better for rough terrain and comfort; a higher N/mm number is stiffer and better for high-speed running or smooth tracks where you want minimal suspension movement. The 0.50N/mm is suited to general-purpose recreational use and bashing on varied terrain.
