Whether you're a weekend basher pushing your RC vehicle to its limits or a competitive racer seeking reliable suspension upgrades, these 72mm shock shafts deliver the precision engineering that Traxxas is renowned for.
Built with a titanium-nitride (TiN) coating, these shock shafts combine advanced materials technology with thoughtful engineering to provide a suspension component that resists wear and maintains performance lap after lap. As a replacement or upgrade for compatible Traxxas models, these shafts come fully assembled with rod ends and hollow balls, ready to install into your RC suspension setup. For RC enthusiasts across the UK seeking to maintain or enhance their vehicles' suspension performance, these genuine Traxxas components represent the kind of quality you'd expect from an authorised retailer stocking premium RC car parts and accessories.
Key Features
- Titanium-Nitride (TiN) Coating — The TiN coating applied to these shock shafts creates a harder, more durable surface that resists scratching and abrasion far better than uncoated steel, which means your shafts will maintain their smooth finish through countless hours of use and maintain better seal life over time.
- 72mm Length — Specifically sized for GT-Maxx suspension systems, these shafts provide the exact geometry required for optimal suspension travel and performance characteristics that your vehicle was engineered to deliver.
- Pre-Assembled Design — The shafts arrive fully assembled with rod ends and hollow balls already installed, eliminating the need for additional assembly and ensuring proper fitment right out of the package.
- Steel Hollow Balls — The included steel hollow balls are integrated into the assembly, providing the connection points for suspension linkages whilst maintaining the lightweight design that helps maximise your vehicle's handling and responsiveness.
- Rod Ends Included — Complete rod ends come factory-installed, giving you everything needed for immediate installation without the need to source additional components or perform complex assembly work.
- Smoother Performance — The combination of the TiN coating and precision engineering delivers noticeably smoother operation throughout the suspension's full travel range, translating to better feedback and more predictable handling during high-speed runs.
- Extended Seal Life — The harder, smoother TiN-coated surface reduces friction and wear against the shock seals, meaning your shocks will maintain their performance and stay leak-free for considerably longer than if fitted with standard uncoated shafts.
- Sold as a Pair — You receive two complete shock shafts in every purchase, providing the front and rear pairing needed for balanced suspension setup across your RC vehicle.
Technical Performance
These Traxxas shock shafts represent the kind of precision engineering that separates quality RC components from budget alternatives. At 72mm in length, they're engineered specifically for the GT-Maxx suspension architecture, which means they deliver the exact suspension geometry and travel characteristics that your vehicle requires for optimal performance. The titanium-nitride coating process hardens the steel shaft surface, creating a material that's significantly more resistant to the scratching, scoring and wear that occurs during regular use. This harder surface translates directly into longer component life and more consistent performance—the shafts won't degrade as quickly under the repetitive stress of suspension cycling, and the smoother finish means less friction against the shock seal, which extends seal life and reduces the risk of seal degradation or leaks. The pre-assembled construction means these shafts come with the rod ends and steel hollow balls already installed in perfect alignment, eliminating the need for workshop assembly and ensuring fitment is guaranteed. For RC enthusiasts across the UK who understand that suspension reliability directly impacts overall vehicle performance and longevity, these shafts are a sensible upgrade or replacement choice that combines genuine OEM quality with materials science that really does make a measurable difference to durability.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles are these Traxxas shock shafts compatible with? — These 72mm GT-Maxx shock shafts are compatible with Traxxas Funco Motorsports Pro Scale 8S 2WD Electric Sand Car models, including the red, blue, orange and green variants. Always verify compatibility with your specific vehicle model before ordering, as shock shaft compatibility is specific to suspension design.
- What does the TiN coating actually do? — Titanium-nitride coating is a thin but extremely hard surface treatment that creates a significantly tougher material than bare steel. The TiN coating resists scratching and abrasion, maintains a smoother surface finish for reduced friction against shock seals, and ultimately extends the working life of the shafts whilst improving the longevity of your shock seals. This means better performance and longer intervals between maintenance or replacement.
- Do I need to assemble these shafts myself? — No, these shafts come completely pre-assembled with rod ends and hollow balls already installed and correctly aligned. You can install them directly into your shocks without any additional assembly work, which saves time and ensures perfect fitment.
- Will these shafts improve my RC car's handling? — By themselves, shock shafts don't dramatically change handling characteristics, but by replacing worn or damaged shafts with these quality Traxxas components, you'll restore your suspension to factory specifications. If your original shafts were damaged or scored, upgrading to these TiN-coated shafts may actually improve handling by ensuring your shocks operate more smoothly and maintain better seal integrity.
- How often should I replace shock shafts? — Shock shafts are wear items, and replacement frequency depends on usage intensity and maintenance. Regular inspection is wise—if you notice visible scoring, scratching or if your shocks are leaking, it's time to replace the shafts. The TiN coating on these shafts makes them more resistant to wear, potentially extending service intervals.
- What's the difference between standard and TiN-coated shock shafts? — TiN-coated shafts feature a significantly harder and smoother surface than standard uncoated steel. This coating reduces scratching and wear, maintains better lubrication film for reduced friction against seals, and ultimately provides longer service life and more consistent performance. The investment in TiN coating pays dividends through extended component life and improved reliability.
