Overview
The RC Overhaul Pipe / Manifold Spring Set (6pcs) is an essential spare part for anyone maintaining nitro-powered RC cars and trucks in the UK. Whether you're a seasoned competitor, weekend basher, or enthusiast running RC vehicles for leisure, this practical hardware set addresses one of the most common maintenance needs in the hobby: keeping exhaust connections secure and reliable. Designed specifically for maintaining pipe-to-manifold joints, this spring set offers a straightforward solution to refresh worn or missing exhaust springs that have become loose or damaged through regular use and vibration.
Exhaust connections on RC cars are subject to constant vibration and heat cycling, which can cause mounting springs to weaken, stretch, or go missing entirely. When these springs lose their tension, the manifold connection becomes loose, leading to potential air leaks, inconsistent running, and even complete exhaust failure during a race or fun session. The RC Overhaul Pipe / Manifold Spring Set provides six matching replacement springs that restore proper tension to your exhaust assembly, ensuring a secure mechanical bond between pipe and manifold. This is the kind of consumable spare that every pit box should contain—compact, affordable, and genuinely useful for keeping your RC car or truck running smoothly.
Built for routine maintenance and component replacement, part number G-RCO-RX004 represents straightforward, no-nonsense engineering. This is not a fancy upgrade or high-performance modification; it is exactly what it claims to be: a practical addition to your RC maintenance toolkit that addresses a real, everyday need in the nitro RC hobby.
Key Features
- Six matching springs in one set — This pack contains six identical replacement springs, giving you enough spares to refresh multiple exhausts or keep backups for future use, which is essential when competing or running multiple RC models.
- Designed for pipe-to-manifold connections — These springs are specifically engineered to fit and secure the joint where your exhaust pipe connects to the engine manifold, maintaining consistent clamping force under vibration.
- Restores proper tension to exhaust assemblies — Worn or stretched springs no longer hold the manifold tight; this set restores the original design tension, which helps maintain a consistent seal and reduces the chance of movement under the high vibration environment inside an RC engine bay.
- Helps reduce movement and vibration-induced failure — Keeping exhaust connections properly tensioned is critical for reliability, as loose pipes can rattle, leak, or even separate during high-powered running sessions, leading to engine damage or complete failure on the track.
- Compact and practical pit box essential — This small, lightweight pack is easy to store and carry, making it a perfect addition to any pit box, toolbox, or spares bag alongside other common RC car maintenance items.
- Compatible across a wide range of RC applications — Though designed as a universal spare, these springs work across numerous nitro RC cars, trucks, and buggies, making them a sensible investment for any nitro enthusiast running multiple models.
- Straightforward replacement hardware — No special tools or technical expertise required; simply remove your old, worn springs and install the new ones—a job that takes minutes and delivers immediate reliability gains.
Technical Performance
The RC Overhaul Pipe / Manifold Spring Set is engineered with materials and specifications designed to withstand the demanding environment of a nitro RC engine's exhaust system. Exhaust manifolds experience both high heat and constant mechanical vibration, so replacement springs must be robust enough to maintain clamping force over extended use without permanent deformation. These six springs are manufactured to consistent specifications, ensuring uniform tension across your exhaust assembly. The spring material is chosen to resist relaxation and fatigue, which is critical because a spring that loses its tension prematurely defeats the purpose of replacement. By maintaining proper tension on the manifold connection, these springs help ensure that your pipe remains sealed and secure, preventing exhaust leaks that would degrade engine performance and reliability. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK running nitro power sources, proper exhaust assembly maintenance is non-negotiable—these springs represent the kind of foundational, unglamorous maintenance that separates reliable race cars from problem-prone machines.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What are pipe and manifold springs used for on RC cars? — Pipe and manifold springs secure the exhaust pipe connection to the engine manifold on nitro RC cars and trucks. These springs maintain clamping tension on the joint, which prevents the pipe from loosening, leaking, or separating under the intense vibration that occurs during engine operation. Without proper spring tension, your exhaust will rattle, leak unburned fuel, and potentially damage your engine.
- Why would I need replacement springs? — Over time, the springs on your exhaust assembly weaken, stretch, or go missing altogether due to the constant heat cycling and vibration they endure. When springs lose their tension, the manifold connection becomes loose, leading to reliability problems and poor engine performance. This RC Overhaul six-piece spring set gives you fresh replacements to restore your exhaust assembly to like-new condition.
- How many springs does my RC car exhaust need? — Most nitro RC cars and trucks use at least one or two springs per exhaust connection, and this set of six provides plenty of spares for multiple models or repeated maintenance sessions. Having extra springs on hand is particularly useful if you run multiple RC vehicles or participate in competitive events where reliability is paramount.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Replacing exhaust springs is one of the simplest maintenance tasks in RC hobbying—no special tools or technical knowledge required. If you own a nitro-powered RC car or truck, this is exactly the kind of consumable spare a beginner should keep in their pit box, and it costs less than £4.
- Will these springs fit my specific RC model? — These springs are designed as universal replacements for pipe-to-manifold connections across a wide range of RC applications including RC cars, trucks, and buggies. However, because different models may have slightly different specifications, we recommend confirming compatibility with your specific engine or consulting the documentation for your RC vehicle. Our team at RC Model Shop are happy to advise if you are unsure.
- How often should exhaust springs be replaced? — Exhaust springs should be inspected regularly and replaced whenever they appear worn, stretched, or unable to maintain proper tension on the manifold connection. For frequent runners and competitive racers, carrying spare springs like this set is standard practice because spring failure is a common cause of unexpected breakdowns.
