Overview

The SPM A347R 13g Sub-Micro Metal-Geared Digital Servo (Reverse) is a precision engineered servo designed for discerning RC enthusiasts looking to upgrade their small-scale models with high-quality, reliable control. This compact servo represents Spektrum's commitment to delivering professional-grade components for the RC hobby sector in the UK and beyond. Whether you're building a competitive RC racing model, restoring a vintage RC aircraft, or fine-tuning your existing setup, this servo offers the durability and performance characteristics you'd expect from an authorised Spektrum component.

Measuring just 13 grams, this sub-micro servo is engineered to fit into tight spaces where standard-sized servos simply won't work. The reverse rotation capability makes it ideal for applications requiring mirrored servo operation, eliminating the need for complex mechanical linkages or external reversing systems. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking a reliable, compact servo solution that doesn't compromise on build quality, the A347R delivers exceptional value and dependability.

Digital servo technology provides superior precision and responsiveness compared to analogue alternatives, making it particularly suited to RC models where accuracy and repeatability matter. The metal-geared construction ensures longevity under normal operating conditions, whilst the compact sub-micro form factor makes it versatile enough for everything from small-scale RC cars and trucks to lightweight RC aircraft applications.

Key Features

  • Metal Gears — The metal gear construction provides superior durability and torque handling compared to plastic gear alternatives, ensuring the servo maintains reliable performance through extended use and demanding applications without premature wear.
  • Digital Control Technology — Digital servo circuitry delivers faster response times and more precise positional control than analogue servos, which is critical for RC models where accuracy and reaction speed directly impact handling and performance.
  • Sub-Micro Form Factor — At just 13 grams, this servo is specifically designed for compact installations where space is at a premium, making it ideal for small-scale RC models, lightweight aircraft, and custom builds with tight packaging constraints.
  • Reverse Rotation Capability — The reverse rotation version allows you to mount the servo in either orientation without needing mechanical reversing mechanisms, simplifying installation on symmetrical RC models or models requiring mirrored control.
  • Complete Hardware Package — The servo arrives with all necessary mounting hardware included, eliminating the need to source additional fasteners and allowing you to get your RC model operating quickly.

Technical Performance

The A347R represents a significant step forward in servo technology for small-scale RC applications. The metal gear design is engineered to withstand the operational demands of precision RC work, providing reliable torque transmission without the performance degradation that can occur with plastic gear components over time. The digital control electronics ensure that positional commands from your RC transmitter are executed with minimal lag, which is particularly important for models where responsive handling directly affects performance and driver experience. At 13 grams, this servo achieves an exceptional power-to-weight ratio, making it suitable for weight-sensitive applications where every gram matters. The sub-micro classification means this servo is compatible with RC models designed around compact component specifications, and the reverse rotation feature eliminates installation headaches for symmetrical builds or applications requiring mirrored servo operation. Whether you're operating an RC car, RC truck, or lightweight RC aircraft, the A347R provides the digital precision and metal-gear durability that separates quality servo solutions from budget alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the SPM A347R suitable for beginners to RC hobby building? — The A347R is best suited to builders with some experience in RC model assembly, as it is a component servo rather than a complete ready-to-run system. However, experienced RC hobbyists and those building custom models will appreciate its compact size and reliable metal-geared construction. If you're new to RC and looking for a ready-to-run model, consider starting with a complete RC car or truck package before upgrading individual components.
  • What type of RC models is this servo designed for? — The sub-micro classification and 13-gram weight make this servo ideal for small-scale RC models including compact RC cars, lightweight RC trucks, RC aircraft applications, and custom builds where space and weight are critical considerations. The reverse rotation feature is particularly useful for symmetrical models or applications requiring mirrored servo control.
  • Does this servo come with mounting hardware? — Yes, the A347R includes all necessary mounting hardware: two M2x8mm self-tapping screws and one M2*4.5 machine screw, allowing you to install the servo immediately without sourcing additional fasteners.
  • What does reverse rotation mean? — The reverse rotation feature allows the servo to operate in either clockwise or counter-clockwise direction depending on your installation orientation. This eliminates the need for mechanical reversing linkages and simplifies installation on RC models with symmetrical control requirements or mirrored servo layouts.
  • What is the difference between digital and analogue servos? — Digital servos, like the A347R, use microprocessor-based control electronics to deliver faster response times, more precise positional accuracy, and smoother operation compared to analogue servos. For RC applications where precision handling matters, digital servos provide a noticeable performance advantage.
  • Why are metal gears important in a servo? — Metal gears provide superior durability and torque capacity compared to plastic alternatives, ensuring the servo maintains reliable performance through extended use and demanding applications without premature gear wear or failure.
