  • 10 S-Bus and 9 PWM Channels — The R9DS provides exceptional channel flexibility with 10 channels available via S-Bus protocol and 9 channels via traditional PWM output. This dual-output capability means the receiver can work with both legacy PWM servos and modern S-Bus compatible equipment, making it a future-proof choice that adapts to your current build and any upgrades you might make in the future.
  • RL-Advanced Radio Protocol — RadioLink's proprietary RL-Advanced protocol delivers precise, lag-free control with excellent range and interference rejection in the 2.4GHz frequency band. This advanced digital protocol ensures your RC model responds instantly to your transmitter inputs, whether you're performing competitive manoeuvres or casual weekend bashing.
  • Integrated Telemetry Sensor — Built-in telemetry monitoring tracks signal strength and battery voltage in real-time, providing essential feedback about your system's health during operation. This feature helps prevent loss of signal incidents and allows you to manage battery levels effectively, extending the lifespan of your LiPo batteries and improving overall safety.
  • Expandable Telemetry System — Beyond the basic integrated telemetry, the R9DS supports external telemetry modules including the PRM-01 and PRM-02, allowing you to monitor additional parameters and gain deeper insight into your RC model's performance.
  • Ultra-Compact Design — Weighing just 11 grams and measuring only 43mm in length and 24mm in width, the R9DS is one of the smallest receivers available, making it ideal for weight-sensitive applications like RC aircraft, drones and lightweight RC cars where every gram counts.
  • Wide Operating Voltage Range — The receiver operates reliably across 4.8 to 10 volts, meaning it can work with single-cell LiPo batteries through to multi-cell packs, giving you tremendous flexibility in powering your RC model and adapting to different battery configurations.
  • High-Resolution Control — With precision rated at 4096 levels and resolution of just 0.25 microseconds per section, the R9DS delivers smooth, responsive servo and motor control. This level of precision is essential for high-performance RC racing, acrobatic flying and any application demanding fine control authority.
  • Low Power Consumption — Operating at just 38-45mA at 5 volts, the receiver is exceptionally efficient, drawing minimal current from your battery pack and leaving more power available for your motors, servos and other equipment.
  • RadioLink Transmitter Compatibility — The R9DS is fully compatible with RadioLink's AT9, AT9S and AT10 transmitters, which are recognised as reliable, feature-packed radio systems trusted by RC enthusiasts throughout the UK and beyond.

Technical Performance

The R9DS receiver represents modern radio control engineering with its focus on precision, efficiency and adaptability. The dual S-Bus and PWM output architecture means this single receiver can serve multiple generations of RC equipment, from traditional PWM-only servos to the latest S-Bus capable flight controllers and ESCs. The 4096-level precision with 0.25 microsecond resolution creates exceptionally smooth control response, which is particularly important when operating high-speed RC cars, performing aerial acrobatics with RC aircraft, or executing precise manoeuvres in competitive racing environments. The working voltage range of 4.8 to 10 volts is practical and flexible, accommodating everything from single-cell LiPo setups through to multi-cell battery configurations, whilst the minimal current draw of 38-45mA at 5 volts ensures the receiver contributes minimally to overall battery consumption. The integrated telemetry capability means you're never flying or driving blind—real-time signal strength and voltage monitoring provides the feedback needed to optimise range and prevent battery over-discharge. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking a reliable, compact receiver that bridges traditional and modern RC technology, the R9DS delivers the engineering quality expected from RadioLink.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the RadioLink R9DS receiver suitable for beginners in RC hobbies? — Whilst the R9DS is technically sound and reliable, it's primarily designed as a receiver component rather than a complete radio system. Beginners will need to already own a compatible RadioLink transmitter (AT9, AT9S or AT10) and understand how to integrate the receiver into their RC model. If you're new to RC and don't yet have a transmitter, you may want to consider a complete Ready to Run RC car or aircraft package first, then graduate to component-based builds with receivers like the R9DS.
  • What battery voltage does the R9DS receiver need? — The R9DS operates reliably across 4.8 to 10 volts, making it compatible with a wide range of battery configurations. This includes single-cell LiPo batteries (nominally 3.7V but providing 4.2V when fully charged), right through to multi-cell packs. The receiver will work with standard 5V receiver packs, 2S LiPo batteries (7.4V nominal, 8.4V when fully charged) and higher voltage configurations, providing tremendous flexibility when designing your RC model's power system.
  • Can I use the R9DS with different transmitters or is it locked to RadioLink? — The R9DS is designed to work specifically with RadioLink transmitters using the RL-Advanced protocol. It is not compatible with transmitters from other manufacturers such as Futaba, Spektrum or Sanwa. You'll need a compatible RadioLink transmitter—specifically the AT9, AT9S or AT10 models—to operate this receiver.
  • What's the difference between the PWM and S-Bus outputs on the R9DS? — The R9DS provides two different output options: 9 channels of traditional PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and 10 channels via S-Bus protocol. PWM is the older standard used by conventional RC servos and some ESCs, requiring a separate signal wire for each channel. S-Bus is a modern digital protocol that sends all channel information down a single wire, reducing wiring complexity and enabling communication with modern flight controllers and ESCs. Having both options on one receiver means you can mix old and new equipment seamlessly, or upgrade your setup gradually without having to replace your receiver.
  • What does the integrated telemetry on the R9DS actually monitor? — The built-in telemetry sensor provides real-time feedback on signal strength (RSSI) and battery voltage. Signal strength monitoring helps you understand your radio link quality and avoid flying or driving beyond your effective range, whilst voltage monitoring allows you to track your battery capacity and avoid over-discharging your LiPo batteries, which extends their lifespan and maintains safe operation. For more detailed telemetry information, the receiver supports external telemetry modules PRM-01 and PRM-02.
  • How small is the R9DS receiver and will it fit my RC model? — At just 11 grams, 43mm long and 24mm wide, the R9DS is exceptionally compact. It's specifically designed for applications where size and weight matter, such as lightweight RC aircraft, drones, and scale RC cars. The small footprint makes it ideal for fitting into tight fuselages, chassis cavities and limited spaces where traditional larger receivers simply won't fit.
  • What's the range of the R9DS receiver? — Whilst specific maximum range isn't detailed in the technical specifications, the receiver uses RadioLink's RL-Advanced 2.4GHz protocol, which is recognised for excellent range and interference rejection in the crowded 2.4GHz band. Actual range will depend on your transmitter model (AT9, AT9S or AT10) and environmental conditions, but 2.4GHz digital systems typically offer reliable control at distances of hundreds of metres. The integrated signal strength telemetry allows you to monitor your link quality in real-time.
