Overview

The Radient NiMH 4.8V 2500mAh AA SBS-Flat Rx-JR battery pack is a reliable, practical power solution for RC enthusiasts across the UK seeking dependable receiver battery performance. This 4-cell nickel-metal hydride pack delivers consistent voltage and capacity in a compact AA form factor, making it an ideal choice for RC car UK hobbyists who demand quality and longevity from their battery systems. Whether you're piloting a ready to run RC vehicle or maintaining an established collection, this Radient battery offers the stable power delivery that receivers require for reliable control signal reception and servo operation throughout your RC sessions.

Designed and engineered by Radient, a recognised manufacturer in the RC hobby space, this battery pack combines affordability with proven NiMH technology that has served RC enthusiasts for decades. The SBS-Flat configuration provides a space-efficient design that fits neatly into receiver battery compartments across numerous RC models, whilst the Rx-JR connector ensures broad compatibility with popular receiver systems used in RC off-road buggies, trucks, and on-road vehicles throughout the United Kingdom. At just 110 grams, this battery delivers respectable capacity without adding unnecessary weight to your RC platform, making it suitable for drivers aged 14 and upwards.

NiMH technology remains a trusted choice for receiver batteries because it offers robust performance characteristics, straightforward charging requirements, and excellent value for money. Unlike LiPo batteries which require specialist chargers and careful handling, NiMH packs like this Radient unit integrate seamlessly into most RC setups and can be charged using standard RC battery chargers. This makes the Radient NiMH 4.8V 2500mAh pack an excellent choice for beginners discovering the world of RC, experienced competitors maintaining backup systems, and weekend bashers who value reliability and simplicity in their RC car UK adventures.

Key Features

  • 4.8V 4-Cell Configuration — This battery delivers 4.8 volts through four series-connected cells, providing the stable voltage required for reliable receiver operation and servo control in virtually all standard RC vehicle applications across the UK.
  • 2500mAh Capacity — The 2500 milliamp-hour capacity ensures extended runtime between charges, allowing you to enjoy longer RC sessions without frequent battery changes and providing sufficient power reserve for your receiver and servos throughout the day.
  • Rx-JR Connector — The industry-standard Rx-JR connector provides broad compatibility with receiver systems fitted to RC cars, buggies, trucks and crawlers, ensuring this battery integrates seamlessly into your existing RC setup without requiring adapters or modifications.
  • SBS-Flat Pack Design — The flat configuration is specifically engineered to fit into the compact battery compartments of most receiver boxes and frame-mounted battery trays, maximising usable space in your RC vehicle without requiring external battery pods or extensions.
  • Nickel-Metal Hydride Technology — NiMH chemistry offers proven reliability, straightforward charging procedures using standard RC chargers, excellent cycle life, and exceptional value compared to alternative battery technologies, making this an economical choice for regular RC use.
  • Lightweight Construction — At just 110 grams, this battery pack adds minimal weight to your RC vehicle's overall mass, helping preserve handling characteristics and performance whilst still delivering the power and capacity your receiver system requires.
  • Black Colour Finish — The professional black finish integrates neatly with receiver boxes and vehicle battery trays, maintaining a clean aesthetic across your RC platform whilst showing no dust or dirt accumulation during typical UK outdoor RC sessions.

Technical Performance

The Radient NiMH 4.8V 2500mAh AA SBS-Flat battery represents a thoughtfully engineered receiver power solution that balances practical performance with proven reliability. Built from genuine nickel-metal hydride cells rather than lower-cost alternatives, this pack delivers consistent voltage throughout your RC session, with full charge voltage reaching approximately 6.4 to 6.6 volts as confirmed by testing. This voltage range ensures optimal performance for receiver circuits and servo motors, which are designed to operate safely and efficiently within these parameters. The 2500mAh capacity is substantial for receiver duty, meaning your servos will receive responsive, stable power for steering, throttle control, and auxiliary functions across extended RC driving sessions without voltage sag affecting control response. The AA cell format utilises proven chemistry that has been refined over decades of RC use, offering excellent cycle life and the ability to accept hundreds of full charge-discharge cycles when maintained with proper charging practices. The SBS-Flat construction packs the cells efficiently into a compact package that measures just 110 grams, reducing overall vehicle weight whilst maintaining the capacity essential for reliable receiver operation. Unlike LiPo alternatives that demand specialist chargers and careful storage protocols, this NiMH pack can be charged with virtually any standard RC battery charger rated for NiMH packs, making maintenance and operation straightforward for all skill levels. The Rx-JR connector is constructed to industry standards, ensuring secure connections that resist vibration and maintain electrical contact throughout aggressive RC car UK driving scenarios.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What voltage will this battery be when fully charged? — When fully charged, the Radient NiMH 4.8V 2500mAh AA SBS-Flat battery will measure approximately 6.4 to 6.6 volts, which is the normal fully-charged voltage for a 4-cell NiMH pack in this capacity range. This voltage is ideal for receiver and servo operation across all standard RC cars, buggies, trucks and crawlers.
  • Is this battery suitable for beginners and newcomers to RC? — Yes, absolutely. This Radient receiver battery is an excellent choice for beginners because NiMH technology requires no specialist knowledge. You simply charge it with any standard RC battery charger, insert it into your receiver box, and enjoy reliable operation. There are no complex charging protocols, balance charging requirements, or storage concerns like you would face with LiPo batteries, making this ideal for learning the fundamentals of RC car UK operation.
  • What charger do I need for this battery? — You can use any standard RC battery charger that supports NiMH packs at 4.8V nominal (4-cell). Most RC enthusiasts already own chargers compatible with NiMH batteries, and basic NiMH chargers remain very affordable. Simply select the NiMH charge mode, set the pack type to 4-cell, and follow your charger's instructions. This simplicity is one of NiMH's key advantages over modern LiPo technology.
  • How long will this battery last per charge? — Runtime depends on how much your servos draw power during operation. For typical RC car UK use with a receiver and 1-2 servos in standard vehicles, you can expect 30 minutes to several hours of continuous operation before requiring a recharge, depending on servo activity and load. The 2500mAh capacity provides generous reserve power for extended sessions.
  • Is the Rx-JR connector universally compatible? — The Rx-JR connector is one of the most widely adopted receiver battery connectors in RC hobby, used by major receiver manufacturers worldwide. However, always verify your specific receiver matches this connector type before purchasing. If your receiver uses a different connector such as Futaba, JR, or custom connectors, you may require an adapter, available separately from RC retailers.
  • How does NiMH compare to LiPo for receiver batteries? — NiMH offers several advantages for receiver duty: no special charger required, safer storage and operation, greater tolerance for overcharging, longer shelf life, and lower cost. LiPo offers higher energy density and lighter weight, but requires balance chargers and careful storage. For reliable receiver operation, NiMH remains the choice of countless UK RC enthusiasts.
