Key Features
- 400mm Length with Connectors — The total length of 400mm (approximately 15.75 inches) including connectors provides ample reach for most servo and receiver applications without excessive excess wiring, making it ideal for both standard and compact RC installations.
- Male to Female Futaba Configuration — This extension lead features a male Futaba connector on one end and a female connector on the other, allowing you to extend existing servo leads, receiver connections and control systems with a secure, matched connection that prevents polarity errors.
- Heavy-Duty Construction — Built to withstand the vibration, heat and mechanical stress of RC driving, this extension lead uses robust materials and engineering to ensure longevity and reliability across countless hours of RC use.
- 60 Strand 22AWG Wire — The 60-strand construction with 22AWG gauge wire delivers excellent current-carrying capacity whilst maintaining flexibility, allowing the lead to bend and route through your RC chassis without kinking or developing weak points that could cause connection failures.
- Twisted Wire Construction — The twisted design of the black, white and red wires reduces electromagnetic interference and signal noise, ensuring clean, interference-free communication between your servo, receiver and control systems for responsive, accurate RC handling.
- Colour-Coded Conductors — Black, white and red colour coding matches standard Futaba connector conventions, allowing you to instantly identify positive, negative and signal lines, speeding up installation and reducing the risk of incorrect connections.
- Included Connector Clip — The supplied connector clip securely holds the extension lead in place, preventing movement and accidental disconnection during aggressive driving, jumping and impacts that are part of the RC experience.
- Compact 1.5mm Outer Diameter — The slim profile allows routing through tight spaces in your RC chassis without competing for space with suspension components, batteries or other systems, making this lead perfect for modern compact RC designs.
Technical Performance
This extension lead represents the convergence of practical RC engineering and reliable component design. The 22AWG wire gauge provides excellent conductivity whilst remaining flexible enough for routing through complex chassis layouts common in modern RC cars and trucks. The 60-strand wire construction ensures that the conductor maintains flexibility even after repeated bending and routing adjustments, eliminating the brittle cracking that occurs with cheaper, lower-strand-count alternatives. The total outer diameter of 1.5mm (listed as 2mm in shipping specs) is deliberately compact to maximise the usable interior space of your RC platform without creating bulky, difficult-to-route connections. The twisted construction of the three conductors significantly reduces electromagnetic interference that could introduce noise into signal lines, ensuring clean communication between your receiver, servos and control electronics. The heavy-duty Futaba connectors are engineered to withstand repeated connect-disconnect cycles without degradation, maintaining consistent electrical contact and preventing the loose, unreliable connections that plague lower-quality extension leads. At 0.01kg shipping weight, the negligible mass means no impact on your RC vehicle's weight distribution or performance characteristics. The 400mm total length strikes the ideal balance between providing reach for most applications whilst avoiding excessive coiled wire that could create heat buildup or interference issues. Whether you're building a high-speed RC buggy, a technical RC crawler, or a competitive RC truck platform, this extension lead provides the foundation for reliable, interference-free signal transmission that translates to responsive, predictable RC handling in all conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this extension lead suitable for RC servos and receivers? — Yes, absolutely. This extension lead is specifically designed for Futaba-style connectors used on servos, receivers and RC control systems. The male-to-female configuration allows you to extend existing leads, making it ideal for complex RC setups where standard lead lengths fall short.
- What does the connector clip do and why is it important? — The included connector clip securely fastens the extension lead to prevent accidental disconnection during RC driving. This is crucial because loose connections can cause loss of control, servo chatter, or complete system failure during operation. The clip keeps everything locked in place through jumps, impacts and vibration.
- Can I use this with any Futaba-style connector system? — Yes, this extension lead is compatible with all equipment using standard Futaba black/white/red connector configurations. This includes most servo and receiver brands that use Futaba-compatible connectors, making it a versatile component for your RC collection.
- What is the advantage of twisted wire construction? — Twisted wire significantly reduces electromagnetic interference and signal noise that can cause servo jitter, erratic control inputs, and unreliable receiver performance. This is especially important in high-RF-interference environments or when running multiple servos on the same extension harness.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. The colour-coded connectors (black, white, red) follow standard Futaba conventions, making installation straightforward even for those new to RC. The included connector clip prevents the accidental disconnections that frustrate new builders, and the heavy-duty construction means it will survive learning curves and mistakes.
- What is the 60-strand wire specification? — The 60-strand construction means the conductor is made of 60 individual copper strands twisted together. This provides superior flexibility compared to solid wire or lower-strand-count alternatives, allowing the extension lead to bend and route through your RC chassis repeatedly without developing weak points or breaks in the conductor.
- Will this extension lead work with my RC car, truck or buggy? — If your RC vehicle uses Futaba-style connectors for servos and receivers (the most common standard in RC), then yes, this extension lead will work perfectly. The 400mm length makes it suitable for most RC car scales from 1/10 buggy through to 1/8 truck applications.
