Whether you're running an RC car UK model, a crawler, or any other hobby-grade RC vehicle equipped with JR-format connectors, this heavy-duty extension lead provides the secure, dependable link between your transmitter, receiver, and servos that serious RC modellers depend on. The twisted HD construction ensures minimal interference and maximum durability, making it an ideal choice for both weekend bashers and competitive RC racing drivers.
This extension lead is manufactured by Radient, a recognised name in quality RC accessories and spare parts. At 500mm in length, it offers the perfect balance between manoeuvrability and reach, allowing you to position your receiver or servo exactly where you need it without unnecessary cable bulk. The inclusion of a connector clip means your plugs stay securely fastened together during transport, storage, and active use—a thoughtful design detail that prevents accidental disconnections and damage to your valuable RC equipment.
If you're building a custom RC car from spares and upgrades, or simply need a reliable replacement extension lead for your existing setup, the Radient JR Twisted HD delivers professional performance at an affordable price point. With its 60-strand wire construction and heavy-duty design, this lead is built to withstand the vibrations, impacts, and daily wear that comes with serious RC hobby use in the UK.
Key Features
- 500mm Total Length — The full 500mm measurement includes both connectors, giving you a practical working length that's ideal for most RC car setups without excessive cable management hassles. This length is long enough to reach from a centrally-mounted receiver to multiple servo positions, yet compact enough to avoid clutter in your RC chassis.
- JR Male-to-Female Configuration — This lead features industry-standard JR connectors with male plug on one end and female socket on the other, allowing you to connect your receiver directly to a servo or extend an existing JR-format lead with perfect compatibility across virtually all hobby-grade RC vehicles in the market.
- Heavy-Duty 60-Strand Wire Construction — The 60-strand design provides exceptional flexibility and durability compared to solid-core alternatives, ensuring the lead won't kink, crack, or suffer internal wire breakage even after thousands of connection cycles and movement within your RC chassis.
- 22AWG Professional-Grade Gauge — The 22 American Wire Gauge specification delivers excellent current-carrying capacity whilst maintaining flexibility, making it suitable for servo control signals and moderate power applications across a wide range of RC hobby equipment.
- Twisted Cable Configuration — The innovative twisted bundle design minimises electromagnetic interference and crosstalk between signal lines, resulting in cleaner servo response and more reliable control of your RC vehicle during competitive racing or demanding off-road use.
- Brown, Red and Orange Conductors — Following the standard JR colour convention, the three conductors represent ground (brown), positive power (red), and signal (orange), ensuring proper polarity and compatibility with all JR-equipped receivers and servos in your RC collection.
- Included Connector Clip — The supplied connector clip securely holds the male and female plugs together, preventing accidental disconnection during storage, transport, or active use, and protecting the connector pins from dust and damage that could compromise your RC vehicle's reliability.
- 1.5mm Outer Diameter — The slender profile of this lead makes routing through RC chassis tight spaces and cable management channels straightforward, whilst the 2mm overall diameter with connectors ensures robust construction without excessive bulk.
Technical Performance
The Radient JR Twisted HD Extension Lead represents thoughtful engineering specifically designed for the demands of RC hobbyists across the United Kingdom. The 60-strand, 22AWG wire construction strikes an optimal balance between current capacity and flexibility—this gauge is standard for servo control applications and comfortably handles the signal integrity demands of modern digital servos whilst providing enough copper cross-section for reliable power delivery. The twisted configuration isn't merely cosmetic; this arrangement actively reduces electromagnetic interference that can cause servo jitter or erratic behaviour in sensitive RC vehicles, particularly important when running multiple servos in close proximity or operating in electrically noisy environments such as bustling RC race venues. The 1.5mm outer diameter specification ensures the lead maintains structural integrity whilst remaining flexible enough to route through the confined spaces typical in modern RC car chassis design. The JR connector standard, marked by the distinctive Brown/Red/Orange colour scheme, has been the industry workhorse for decades, ensuring your extension lead will integrate seamlessly with the vast majority of ready-to-run and custom-built RC cars, buggies, crawlers and specialty vehicles available in the UK hobby market. The inclusion of a connector clip demonstrates Radient's understanding of practical RC use—preventing the annoyance and potential damage of disconnected leads that can occur during aggressive driving sessions or when removing your vehicle from storage.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a JR extension lead used for in my RC car? — JR extension leads allow you to reposition receivers, servos, or other JR-equipped components within your RC chassis to achieve better weight distribution, improved cable management, or optimal receiver placement for signal strength. They're essential when your original servo lead is too short or positioned in an awkward location that compromises vehicle performance or assembly.
- Is the Radient JR Twisted HD Extension Lead compatible with my RC vehicle? — If your RC car, buggy, truck, or crawler uses standard JR connectors (the three-pin connector with brown, red, and orange wires), this extension lead is fully compatible. JR format is used by the vast majority of hobby-grade RC vehicles, making this a universal solution for most setups you'll encounter in the UK RC market.
- What does the connector clip do and why should I use it? — The included connector clip securely fastens the male and female plugs together when the lead isn't in use, preventing accidental disconnection, protecting connector pins from dust and oxidation, and keeping your extension lead neatly organised in your RC spares box or carrying case.
- Why is the twisted cable design better than a flat or untwisted lead? — The twisted configuration minimises electromagnetic interference and signal crosstalk between the three conductors (ground, power, and signal). This results in cleaner servo response, reduced jitter, and more predictable handling characteristics—particularly noticeable when operating multiple servos simultaneously in steering and throttle applications.
- How durable is the 60-strand construction? — The 60-strand design provides exceptional flexibility and fatigue resistance compared to solid-core alternatives. After thousands of connection and disconnection cycles, flex-testing in confined chassis spaces, and exposure to vibration during active use, a 60-strand lead will maintain its structural integrity far better than inferior alternatives, making it a worthwhile investment for serious RC enthusiasts.
- Is the 22AWG gauge sufficient for my servo applications? — Yes, 22AWG is the industry-standard gauge for JR servo control leads and provides excellent current capacity for servo control signals and moderate power delivery. It's the specification you'll find on virtually all quality RC servo extension leads across the hobby market.
- What is the significance of the 500mm length? — At 500mm (including both connectors), this lead offers the ideal working length for most RC vehicle applications—long enough to reach from a centrally-mounted receiver to multiple servo positions, yet compact enough to avoid excessive cable bulk and routing complexity within modern RC chassis designs.
- Can I use this lead with digital servos? — Absolutely. The Radient JR Twisted HD Extension Lead is fully compatible with both analogue and digital servos equipped with JR connectors. The high-quality construction actually benefits digital servo performance by minimising electromagnetic interference that can cause signal degradation.
