Overview

The Radient Charge Lead, XT60 to EC5 Male, 12AWG, 150mm (RDNAC010151) is an essential connector adapter for RC enthusiasts who work with multiple power systems. Whether you're operating RC cars, aircraft, boats, or other RC models across the UK, this heavy-duty charge lead provides a straightforward and reliable solution for bridging XT60 and EC5 connections in your RC power systems. This short 150mm adapter is specifically designed to keep your RC wiring neat, tidy, and organised whilst maintaining the robust construction that serious RC hobbyists demand from their equipment.

If you're building a custom RC setup or need to adapt power connections between components that use different connector types, this charge lead is an indispensable addition to your workshop. The Radient brand is renowned for quality and reliability in RC accessories, and this lead exemplifies that commitment. With its clearly marked red and black leads, you'll always know exactly which wire is which, eliminating confusion during setup and ensuring safe, efficient power delivery to your RC vehicle. RC enthusiasts across the UK—whether you're a seasoned competitor, a weekend basher, or just discovering the world of RC for the first time—will appreciate the quality construction and attention to detail this product offers.

This adapter is particularly valuable for RC car UK operators who may have purchased components from different manufacturers or are experimenting with various power configurations. The compact 150mm length ensures you won't have excessive cable cluttering your battery compartment or charge station, whilst the heavy-duty 12AWG copper wire construction guarantees reliable current flow without voltage drop or safety concerns.

Key Features

  • XT60 Female to EC5 Male Connector Configuration — This specific connector pairing allows you to adapt between two of the most popular connector types used in modern RC applications, making it an essential bridge component for multi-system RC setups and allowing seamless power transfer between different equipment brands.
  • Heavy-Duty 12AWG Copper Wire Construction — The 12AWG (American Wire Gauge) copper wire provides excellent electrical conductivity and can safely handle substantial current loads without overheating or introducing dangerous voltage losses, which is critical when powering high-performance RC vehicles with brushless motors and LiPo batteries.
  • Compact 150mm Length — At just 150mm long, this adapter keeps your RC wiring neat and organised, preventing cable clutter in tight spaces such as battery compartments, charge stations, or vehicle chassis areas, whilst still providing sufficient length for practical connections.
  • Colour-Coded Red and Black Leads — The clearly marked red positive and black negative leads eliminate any possibility of reversed polarity, which could damage your equipment or create dangerous short-circuit conditions, making safe connections quick and foolproof every time.
  • Professional-Grade Build Quality — Radient is trusted throughout the RC community for producing reliable, durable accessories, and this charge lead meets the same exacting standards, ensuring longevity even with frequent connection and disconnection cycles typical of active RC hobbyists.

Technical Performance

The Radient Charge Lead represents excellent engineering designed specifically for the demands of modern RC hobbyists. The 12AWG copper wire construction is the gold standard for charge leads and adapter cables, offering minimal resistance and maximum current-carrying capacity. This is particularly important when charging high-capacity LiPo batteries or powering high-current brushless systems commonly found in 1/8 and 1/10 scale RC cars, trucks, and buggies. The connector types—XT60 female and EC5 male—are among the most widely used in the RC industry, making this adapter exceptionally versatile across different RC vehicle types including cars, aircraft, and boats. The 150mm length has been carefully calculated to provide practical reach without introducing unnecessary cable slack that would compromise the tidiness of your RC setup. The copper wire has been selected for its superior electrical properties and durability, ensuring that this adapter will withstand years of regular use without degradation. Whether you're charging batteries at the track, adapting between different power systems at home, or building a custom RC car UK setup from components manufactured by different brands, this lead delivers the performance and reliability expected from a quality RC accessory.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is an XT60 to EC5 adapter lead and why would I need one? — RC vehicles and accessories are made by different manufacturers, many of whom use different connector types. The XT60 connector is very popular in smaller RC applications like 1/10 scale cars, whilst the EC5 connector is favoured in larger systems and higher-current applications. This adapter allows you to connect components with different connector types, giving you flexibility to mix and match equipment from various brands. It's particularly useful if you're upgrading your RC setup, trying different battery brands, or building a custom configuration.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Beginners will find this adapter extremely useful for understanding how different RC power systems connect. The colour-coded red and black leads make it impossible to make a dangerous reversed-polarity connection, and the professional construction means you can trust it to work reliably. If you're new to the RC hobby and have purchased components from different manufacturers, this lead will help you adapt them together safely and easily.
  • What current can this 12AWG lead safely handle? — The 12AWG copper wire is rated for heavy-duty use and can safely handle charge currents and discharge currents typical of LiPo batteries used in RC cars, trucks, buggies, aircraft, and boats. It's suitable for both charging and powering applications, making it one of the most versatile adapter cables you can own. The copper construction ensures minimal voltage drop even under high current draw, which is essential for maintaining battery voltage stability.
  • Is the 150mm length long enough? — The 150mm (approximately 6 inches) length has been carefully chosen as the ideal balance between practicality and compactness. It's long enough to comfortably reach from your charger to your battery or from one vehicle component to another, yet short enough to keep your wiring neat and prevent cable clutter in confined spaces. Most RC hobbyists find this length perfect for both workshop use and field operations.
  • Can I use this with any XT60 and EC5 components? — Yes, this adapter is compatible with any RC component featuring XT60 female connections on one end and EC5 male connections on the other. This includes chargers, batteries, electronic speed controllers (ESCs), power distributors, and various other RC accessories. The heavy-duty 12AWG construction makes it suitable for high-performance brushless systems as well as traditional brushed RC vehicles.
  • What makes this better than other adapter leads? — The Radient Charge Lead combines several key advantages: professional-grade 12AWG copper wire (larger gauge than many budget alternatives), colour-coded leads for safety, solid connector construction, and the trusted Radient brand reputation for quality and reliability. The compact 150mm length is also ideal for keeping RC setups organised without sacrificing practicality.
